What they care about

Transforming the lives of pets and people—building community, saving lives, and finding forever homes.

***Oh my gosh we met our goal so we've paused donations! Thanks so much! We are so excited for Mud Pie! *** Mud Pie is a sweet 3‑month‑old shelter kitten who needs a little extra help to live a comfortable, healthy life. He was born with eyelid agenesis in his right eye, a congenital condition where part of the eyelid never fully forms. Without a proper eyelid to protect the eye, nearby hairs and skin can rub directly on the cornea, causing constant irritation, pain, and even long-term damage. To keep him comfortable and protect his vision, Mud Pie will undergo cryotherapy— a procedure that freezes and removes the abnormal hair follicles causing the irritation. This specialized treatment costs about $800. He will also need to have his other eye removed. Altogether, his total medical care is estimated to be around $1,000. Any contribution, big or small, will help give Mud Pie the healthy, happy life he deserves. Thank you for supporting this tiny fighter on his journey to healing.
Sponsor a Heartworm Treatment – Save a Life! Heartworm treatment is a costly but critical part of saving the lives of shelter dogs. By sponsoring a heartworm-positive dog for just $250, you’ll cover the full cost of diagnostics and treatment—giving that dog a second chance at a healthy, happy life. Your sponsorship directly offsets the medical costs incurred by the shelter, freeing up vital resources for other animals in need. Whether you’re an adopter or a compassionate member of the community, your medical donation helps us go further, save more lives, and ensure no dog is left behind due to a treatable condition. In North Carolina and other areas, it’s common for dogs to have heartworms (they are transmitted by mosquito bites). Heartworm disease may cause severe lung disease, heart failure, or other organ damage - resulting in the loss of a beloved pet. With your support, we can continue to improve our treatment protocol and help more dogs with this disease - resulting in healthier, adoptable dogs! OCAS is grateful for lifesaving donations that sustain critical medical care for shelter pets. Sponsor hope. Sponsor healing. Sponsor a heartworm treatment today.
