Brianny Is Only Three Semesters Away From Becoming a Marine Biologist I never imagined that I would have to sit in front of a computer and write something like this. As a mother, you always want to be able to solve everything for your children. You want to tell them, “Don’t worry. I’ll take care of it.” But today, I have to admit with humility that I cannot do this alone. My daughter Brianny is studying Marine Biology. This has never been just a nice dream for her. It has been a journey filled with hard work, sacrifice, long hours of studying, and determination. Brianny works while attending school because she understands that reaching her goal requires more than simply wishing for it. She is currently in Honduras participating in a field experience connected to her Marine Biology studies. She has been far away from home and her family, traveling by boat, waking up very early, and sometimes entering the water as early as 5:00 in the morning to complete her responsibilities. During this experience, she has been able to observe and learn directly about marine ecosystems, biodiversity, and coastal communities. She has participated in activities in the water, snorkeled in areas such as Lion’s Head, and visited a Garifuna community to learn more about its connection to nature and the surrounding environment. This has not been a vacation. She has faced exhaustion, long days, difficult conditions, and even health complications caused by severe mosquito bites. There were moments when she felt physically drained, but she recovered, got back up, returned to the water, and continued doing the work she went there to accomplish. That showed me once again how deeply she loves this field. Brianny is not dreaming from the comfort of home. She is doing the work. She is away from her family, learning in the field, facing challenges, adjusting to unfamiliar conditions, and preparing herself to become the professional she has worked so hard to be. And now, after coming so far, the funds she depended on to continue her education have run out. Brianny has only three semesters left before completing her degree. Each semester costs approximately $5,000, so our goal is to raise $15,000 to help her finish her education. As her mother, it breaks my heart to think that she may have to stop now. Not because she lacks ability. Not because she has not worked hard enough. Not because she gave up. But simply because we do not have enough money to cover what remains. I have seen everything it has taken for her to get this far. I have seen the late nights, the exhaustion, the responsibilities, and the moments when she had to keep going even when the road became difficult. That is why I refuse to stand by and watch a lack of financial resources stop her when she is so close to reaching her goal. We are not asking for help to begin a dream that may or may not continue. We are asking for help for a young woman who has already completed most of the journey. Brianny is working. Brianny is studying. Brianny is doing her part. Now it is my turn, as her mother, to knock on doors for her. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will bring her closer to completing her final three semesters. The funds will be used toward her educational expenses so she can continue her studies without being forced to walk away from the career she has worked so hard to pursue. For someone, it may be $5, $10, or $20. But when many people come together, a small contribution can become the opportunity she needs to cross the finish line. And should you be unable to donate at this time, sharing this campaign would also mean so much to us. It may reach a family member, a friend, a teacher, a church, or someone who believes in supporting the education of a hardworking young woman. It is never easy for a mother to say, “I need help.” But for my daughter, I am willing to do it. Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Please help us ensure that a lack of financial resources is not the reason she has to walk away from her dream, when she is only three semesters away from achieving it.
