Please Help Me Secure Stable Housing

<div>My name is Mike Boyd, and I’m a professional musician, a publicist at Thrill Jockey Records in Chicago, and a former student/mentee of <strong>Kurt Stein</strong>. As a longtime friend of the man, myth, and legend that is <strong>Kurt Andrew Stein</strong>, I'm taking it upon myself to kick off a GoFundMe to help him get back on his feet after a litany of troubles. These complications include a terrifying car accident that has left him without a vehicle or a home, which has left him in both physical and financial turmoil. Throughout these adversities he is continuing to look for work, care for his beloved dogs and has been left alone to deal with a cascade of problems no one person should bear on their own.

<div><strong>THE STORY</strong>

<div>After barely pulling through the insane difficulties of a self-employed musician and educator navigating Covid lockdowns and complications, Kurt was ready for his next chapter. He wanted to try something new. He needed a change and a chance to heal, and grow, on all levels. He saved, scrapped, and scrounged to get an RV, Jeep, mobile studio, and equipment in order to travel cross-country with his dogs. With dreams of interviewing people he knows around the country from all walks of life for a series/podcast/channel, playing gigs, lecturing, and expanding his scope in his lifelong journey as an educator, artist, entrepreneur, philosopher, and modern day renaissance man, Kurt set forth on his new adventure.

<div>Then, disaster struck. As Kurt was about to officially embark on his journey, after over two years of planning, a friend hundreds of miles away called for his help. Like he always does, Kurt took this dilemma as an opportunity to test-run his new mobile setup. Along the way, his RV and Jeep flipped in an accident that totaled both vehicles, injuring his fearsome and lovable dog duo <strong>Buddha</strong> and <strong>Beaker</strong>, as well as exacerbating Kurt's previously existing issues like a returning pinched nerve in his back that makes it difficult to walk. From the due car payments, to the lost prep costs/gear, the loss of work/opportunities, and the vehicles' insurance not totally covering costs that have left him in the lurch, Kurt has subsequently incurred some very serious debts. Kurt has no family, significant other, or safety net to turn to for help. Our man is stressed to the maximum. Our friend deserves better, much better.

<div>In addition to the accident, Kurt's family has been struggling with their own serious medical problems and financial struggles. He is worried about them and desperately wants to help them in whatever way he possibly can. With his debts, lack of transportation, and beloved pets, it has been impossible for Kurt to stabilize financially, or even find affordable housing. With two (beautiful and well-behaved) pitties he rescued during lockdown, and a 30 year old snake, most renting associations won't take him. This is not even including the up-front costs of renting or home ownership (which he was denied during Covid). His plan was to attempt to at least semi-relocate, or travel for a while anyway.

<div>Currently, Kurt is living out of his music studio with no shower or access to drinkable water, and eating out of a dorm fridge. THIS IS NOT SUSTAINABLE. He's receiving weekly water deliveries from close friends, and taking the chance to wash and workout at the gym when he has the energy to bike across town. The margins are razor thin, the situation he faces is obviously overwhelming, and Kurt has nothing left to give. The man of steel and zeal we know and love with seemingly endless energy and passion to guide or assist others any way he can, and who always pulls himself up stoically and heroically in the face of adversity, is in dire straits and completely burned out trying to deal with the fallout of the events of the past few years.

<div><strong>THE GOAL</strong>
</div>
<div>Ultimately, Kurt needs help getting back on his feet so he is able to even consider his next steps. He is living the very definition of burnout. Despite all the adversity, Kurt has kept his head up, remained vigilant, and passionate about the zillion things we know he's enthusiastic about. To be clear, we've set the monetary goal on the extreme <em>LOW END</em>, and it just gets him some short term footing. At every turn, there's more that can be done. In the short term, financial support is the #1 thing he needs urgently and immediately from all of us around the world that know and love him. Without question, Kurt Stein is an asset and inspiration to everyone who crosses his path.

<div>With all the stress and pressure of his hardships Kurt has not had the mental, emotional, or physical capacity to focus on the passions that drive him and have helped his community of friends and students grow over his past 2 decades of teaching. Kurt has unsurprisingly ambitious goals for his future as an educator, scholar, guru, and artist. Where most folks search for something to focus on in life, Kurt can’t help but chase his calling and life’s work. It’s all he knows. He is one of the hardest workers anyone knows, and loves to help others succeed, face their fears, and chase their dreams. In the solitudes of lockdowns, and even now, Kurt has been delving deeper into the worlds of the science of sound, philosophy, audiology, neurodivergence, and beyond.

<div>Kurt is open to all types of remote work from here, there, and anywhere, or relocation for a suitable job or opportunity for his vast skill set. If given a little time, support, and understanding, he has some exciting and innovative plans to create a very unique podcast, music education platform, and creative consultative. Kurt has been actively working on laying the groundwork for these projects throughout the last few years, until the freak accident derailed all of his plans and emptied his funds to launch his new direction.

<div>Meet my friend <strong>Zoi Koukaki,</strong> who I've had the pleasure of knowing for 3 years. Zoi and I were on the opening team of Nordstrom NYC. Zoi speaks multiple languages and is a lifelong learner; always eager to better herself. Zoi consistently turns up for her friends—now it's time to support her in return.

<div>Zoi moved to America from Greece 3.5 years ago and purchased a home in 3 years - persevering through the pandemic and budgeting wisely.

<div>Two months after purchasing and moving into her new home, she was diagnosed with triple-positive, grade 3, invasive ductal carcinoma; a <em>very</em> aggressive form of breast cancer. Zoi continues to work full-time during her chemo treatments and is the sole earner for her medical bills. Next month, Zoi will go through surgery and will be unable to work. She will face a significant loss of wages - with mounting medical bills and mortgage payments still due.

Olson Family Adoption

<div>On June 18th, my apartment was in a devastating fire that changed my life forever and the way I look at it. If I would have slept 15 more minutes, the smoke would have gotten me, and I would not be here. I am lucky to be alive, but my situation keeps getting worse. I still have no access to the apartment since the city shut down the building, so I have no way to retrieve my belongings or see what is left. According to the city, we have no idea when we will get that access. I am starting a new life with a fresh perspective. A few friends have asked me to do a GoFund me to help. <div>Milo rescue story began 11/2021 when he was brought to Blue Pearl Hospital by original owners due to being lethargic. Upon further diagnostics it was determined he had a foreign body. After a successful surgery a q tip and piece of denim were removed. We found the perfect forever home for him and very shortly after adoption he became sick again. We feared another foreign body obstruction but that was ruled out. He is not doing well and is back at AMC .

<p>We are returning to <strong>Rosebud Reservation</strong> in South Dakota to open our 3rd eye clinic for Native Americans. SATELLITE ART CLUB

Our dear friend Ruben was savagely attacked and assaulted last weekend near his home in Harlem, and he needs our help. It is truly abhorrent and heartbreaking to have heard this news, and I hope that we can help him during a time of great need and during a time in which hate crimes are rampant. <br /><br />Ruben was hospitalized immediately, and his eternally strong spirit and work ethic wouldn't let him stay there for very long. During the attack, he was severely injured- mainly to his upper body, head, face, lost a tooth, and as a 9/11 survivor, I know that PTSD and anxiety will creep back in for him. Ruben has helped so many, I know we can band together to help him get through this horrific time. He also lost his camera during this savage assault, and for a self employed artist, this is the ultimate nightmare.   <br /><br />Though he checked himself out of the hospital, it was a little too soon out of concern for his career and an upcoming show that he had to check on his prints for.  He is going to require some ongoing medicine and support to get back on his feet. We are also coordinating a print donation to sell on his behalf. This is an urgent matter as Ruben is still recovering at home far too prematurely having left the hospital. Darden III, known as "Rico" by his family, lived a beautiful life that unfortunately was cut short.  He was the son of David (Jr.) of NC and the late Radha of Trinidad and Tobago.  David was a passionate soul that lived fully and was loved by many.<br /><br />David Darden received a full academic scholarship to Morehouse College in 1999.  After taking two years off to care for his mother, in 2006 he finished with a degree in Business Finance.  Before graduating David accepted an offer from Morgan Stanley, NY where he worked as a Real Estate Investment Analyst until December of 2007.<br /><br />After the death of his mother in November of 2007, David's life was compiled with trial and tragedy.  Through every circumstance he found the strength to stand in the face of opposition.  Even in the worst situations, he found means to mentor and teach troubled young men. He used love and humility as tools for empowerment. On the afternoon of February 9th, 2018, David lost his life at the hands of a Georgia State Patrol Officer.<br /><br />We believe his loving and gracious spirit is worthy of celebration.  While his time on earth may not have met our expectations, David's life and legacy will continue to live on through every soul his infectious smile touched.  He loved deeply and was loved. David F. Darden III will be forever missed.<br /><br />The friends and family would like to celebrate David's wonderful life and are asking for donations to help in the transportation and memorial service being scheduled in North Carolina on Saturday, February 17th, 2018.

After two surgeries and eleven days in the ICU, he is out of danger, but the battle continues.   He will require several more surgeries and much rehabilitation.  <br /><br />As everyone knows, Alan has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for individuals, causes and organizations in Atlanta.   As Alan lay unconscience, his family and I wondered if Alan would be embarassed to accept financial help to offset these costs.   Alan's response was "with what I've been through, nothing is embarassing."   So, on Alan's behalf, Lou, Terri, Traci, Robin, Morgan, Cindy, Nina and I humbly ask for any contribution you might find yourself able to make.     All funds will be applied to medical expenses.   <br /><br />Alan and I, and our families are eternally grateful for your support.

<p>The youth group from <strong>Our Saviour New York (OSNY)</strong> is headed to the 2016 LCMS <a href="http://www.lcmsgathering.com" target="_blank">National Youth Gathering</a>  in New Orleans, Louisiana!<br /><br />It's going to be a life-changing week of worship, learning, serving, and fun with 25,000 other young people from around the country.<br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/10067813_1458590785.6673_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br />But students of <a href="http://oursaviournewyork.com" target="_blank">OSNY</a> need your help to make it happen.
