<div>Luca was born in the afternoon on Friday, December 6. He was immediately taken to the NICU because he couldn’t pump his little heart on his own and he presented with potential signs of brain injury during labor. Doctors in Maine immediately intervened and he was placed on life support and put into a medically induced coma as they began a 72 hour cooling procedure called therapeutic hypothermia. After close monitoring of his heart, he was transferred to Boston’s Children’s Hospital via Life Flight so that we could receive critical care and life saving treatment.

<div>Lauren and Jesse have been back and forth between South Portland and Boston so they can be close to little Luca while trying to maintain some normalcy for Margo. It has been a scary time and they are taking it day by day. What we know now is that doctors are working hard to figure out what’s going on and keep teeny Luca’s heart working, and that several days in, he’s making positive progress.

<div>We don’t know how long Luca will be in the NICU or what is next. What I do know is that as Lauren, Jesse, and Margo’s community, I am grateful that we have the chance to show up for them as they have shown up for all of us. ♥️

Yuliya is truly one-of-a kind; she’s one of the most caring humans any of us have ever had the good fortune of meeting. With the kindest spirit, true thoughtfulness, a dark-ass sense of humor, and a contagious laugh, Yuliya shines, and we're all better for knowing her. Two years ago, she began a battle with breast cancer and she came out the other side with a grace and laugh that we've all admired. She would definitely argue that she was not graceful or joyful. But that's Yuli. With rounds and rounds of treatment, frustrations and complications, she fought. She was exasperated, but she fought. And then, she was in remission. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/36469114_1548281876523120_r.jpeg" alt="36469114_1548281876523120_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /> And while it hasn't been easy for Yuliya since - the fear of relapse and endless doctor's appointments to remind her what she lived through - Yuliya grabbed her life by the horns. She seized the damn day. And we've celebrated alongside her. Or, we tried to. She still was late to her surprise 30th birthday and ended up surprising all of us when she showed up. Sadly, it is with absolute bravery that on Friday the 25th, Yuliya will begin treatment for cancer once again. Because of a variety of factors that further complicate her diagnosis, she will be going through rigorous clinical trials and we want to support her however we can. We may not be oncologists, but we sure can rally. Funds raised are for Yuli's discretion - medical expenses, the incidentals that come with treatment (specific diets, etc.) and anything she needs to make this challenge a bit more comfortable. David is an awesome member of the GoFundMe family and a member of the entrusted Justice League of GFM. You all know that David is one of the nicest people around. Well, this past week, his apartment was broken into and some valuable items stolen.  They took his TV, camera lenses, among other valuable stuff. I know that lenses are super expensive - and, most importantly, creatively valuable. He mentioned that he might need to break his lease, which in itself is costly. We set the goal at $3,000, but I am thinking that the total cost may be much more than that. We'll increase the goal if we reach it.  Let's unite together and help make David's life a little easier!

Here's the sad news: My sister ultimately lost her home after becoming disabled. Originally she did everything right. She went to college, got a great job, and started building the house of her childhood dreams- a log cabin. But tragedy intervened and my sister became paralyzed after a surgery gone wrong. Even after becoming disabled 14 years ago, she did everything possible to make her house payments. However, she really struggled for the last six years and repeatedly asked the bank to modify her loan but the bank, being what banks are these days, refused. Though recently she'd been in and out of foreclosure fighting to save her home it slowly and surely slipped from her grasp. Here's the good news: I've managed to get a loan to buy it back! Here's where YOU come in: Though I've negotiated a great price with the buzzards, I mean the bank, and can get the loan, I don't have money for the down payment and closing costs. Soooo, I'm asking you fine people to help me help my twin sister get back in the home she loved and literally hand-built. Friends, I hope this message finds you well… I am reaching out because, as many of you may already know, I am planning our 5th Annual 24 Hours of Golf Fundraiser this upcoming May 21st/22nd at Locust Valley Golf Course in Attleboro. I will start playing golf on Saturday, May 21st at noon and will continue to play for 24 straight hours in an effort to raise as much money as possible for junior golf in our area. The Ultimate Golf Marathon! Over the past four years we have raised over $50,000 to help fund free golf, lessons, tournaments, equipment, memberships etc. So essentially any child from the surrounding area can pick up the game of golf at no cost to their family regardless of their financial background. As many of you know the game of golf holds a special place in my heart and has had a tremendous impact on my life. I come from a family where my parents were divorced at a young age and golf (like many sports can) provided me an outlet to stay out of trouble and learn a game that I could enjoy for the rest of my life while learning some of life’s most important lessons! I even met my beautiful wife Kellie at Highland Country Club in Attleboro so to say I owe the game more than it owes me is an understatement…. We've been fortunate to have Super Bowl Champion Devin McCourty from the New England Patriots along with several of his teammates (Kyle Arrington, Duron Harmon, Brandon Jones) at Locust Valley when we completed the 24 hours of golf to participate in putting, chipping, long drive contests while also throwing a few footballs around with anybody that decided to stop by. Devin is looking forward to being part of our charitable efforts again this year and will be at event with some other Super Bowl Champion Special Guests. To my friends and fellow classmates of NVRHS Demarest. I just got off the phone with Vicki Elliott's son Chris. I cannot believe the luck that has befallen our classmate and friend. This is truly a case of "if not for bad luck, there would be NO luck". You know she had the car accident, the knee surgery, her mom passed, her brother was in a coma for 10 weeks, and her husband passed. What you don't know is that in February of this year, her home flooded with almost 3 feet of water. A "natural disaster" which we know, insurance doesn't cover. She and her son lost everything. They've been living in a motel ever since. Which is why, she was in a motel parking lot when she fell and now broke her femur and her hip. She is awaiting surgery for this evening. I will be setting up a "Go Fund Me" page for our friend and classmate who is on a long road to recovery. Through this, I hope to be able to get her set up in an apartment with furnishings, clothing, etc. after her recovery and rehab, and her medical bills. Please look for the Go Fund Me page, and give generously to our friend and classmate. If you can't give, please post the funding page so that it may reach others from our class that may be able to. The Starker Kittel Cello Bow This project is about reproducing one of the finest cello bows ever made.  Michael Duff, the owner and bowmaker of <a href="http://WWW.BERGBOWS.COM" target="_blank">Berg Bows, Int’l</a>  of Bloomington, Indiana (USA), has been engaged by Mr. Janos Starker's family and estate managers to undertake the meticulous task of creating world-class copies of Mr. Starker's Kittel cello bow. For those of you who don’t know his work, Michael is considered one of the premier bowmakers in the world, specializing in composite resin bows which are prized for their flawless balance, astounding spectrum of tonal color, longevity, and exquisite beauty. Over the many years Michael has worked with teachers and students at the prestigious Indiana University Jacobs School of Music (as well as highly acclaimed professionals around the world), he developed a particularly close relationship with the great cellist Janos Starker. Near the end of his life, Mr. Starker acquired an exceptionally fine cello bow by the renowned 19th c. bowmaker Nikolai Kittel; Mr. Starker considered this bow one of the finest he had ever played. Mr. Starker's Vision to Replicate the Kittel Cello Bow Mr. Starker conceived the idea that Michael Duff should make copies of this bow in order that students and young professionals might have access to one of the world’s great bows at a fraction the cost of the original. Mr. Duff is the ideal candidate for such a task. In addition to being respected as a great artist in bowmaking, Michael brings to the table not only his musical training and his long history of studying the greatest masters of bowmaking, but also a background in modern sciences (indeed, before purchasing the Berg Bows business and taking it to new heights, Michael was on the faculty at Indiana University in the  Microbiology department). Michael is thus perfectly placed to make world-class replicas of this exquisite bow. Mr. Starker passed away before the project could be brought to completion, but Mr. Starker’s wife, and the executor of his estate, hold Michael in high enough regard that they entrusted the bow to him to have it ‘digitized’ – measured electronically down to 1/1000 millimeter accuracy. All that remains now is to create the molds, and thus bring the project to fruition. The Starker-Kittel Bow Project This is where the project becomes expensive, however, and we have decided to raise funds for it through a Go Fund Me campaign. The funds raised here will enable the making of the precision molds that are used to create these exceptional bows. These molds are so expensive, because they are made to a level of technical precision usually reserved for medical and astronomical equipment. They are built to the exact dimensions produced when Mr. Staker's Kittel bow was digitized (measured to the precision of 1/1000 of a millimeter). This precision is the foundation of the greatness of a Berg bow - combined with the human, old-world artistry of Michael Duff's three decades of experience. This is a ground-breaking project for several reasons: firstly, it will make available a near-perfect copy of this one-of-a-kind masterpiece, at a price which will enable students and young professionals a chance to play with one of the finest bows ever made. And, secondly, this project represents a whole new world in bow-making. Never before has a bow of such quality been so completely measured, and reproduced by such an experienced and respected bowmaker. This project will open the door to a new era in music - making irreplacable masterpieces available to a wide community of artists at a fraction of the cost of the original. The Perks of Contributing... No contribution is too small, but we would like to point out that there are significant perks for larger donations: the first 50 contributors giving $50 or more will receive a gift from the executors of Janos Starker's estate of a copy of Janos Starker's acclaimed autobiography, and the single highest contributor donating $2000 or more to the project will receive his or her choice of a Berg Bow for violin, viola, or cello, made by Mr. Duff. We would also like to point out that 10% of every Starker-Kittel bow sale will be contributed to the Janos Starker Foundation, to support young cello students.  Please pass the word... I am Truman Bradshaw spouse of Ophelia (Mary) Bradshaw. Ophelia passed away unexpectantly on Friday April 8, 2016 while a patient at Dallas Methodist Medical Center.  I am raising money to help pay for Ophelia's (Mary's) Funeral and final medical expenses. Moneys raised will be used for that purpose. Ophelia (Mary) did not have any insurance and I am disabled and on a fixed income. My wife is being held in the morgue until I can raise the funds needed for her funeral. I am desperately trying to bury my wife of 43 years. I have exhausted all other means. PLEASE, PLEASE help me bury my wife and help paying for medical expenses. I never thought that I would have so many problems trying to bury my loved one. These funds are needed as soon as possible. Unfortunately today we write to you with a somber but prayerful heart. Our fellow dealer and NMIADA Vice President of the Board of Directors Felicia Richesin was involved in an awful traffic accident last night. Felicia is fighting for her life at this time and needs our thoughts and prayers in this difficult time. Please pray that Felicia stays strong in her fight and does not give up.
