<div>You may know <strong>Lee Olson</strong> as a Brewers fan, a Milwaukee Parks enthusiast, a punk rock singer with eccentric dance moves, or a caring and compassionate friend; likely, you know all these aspects of him and more. Lee is one of our oldest and dearest friends, and we’re reaching out on behalf of him and his wife, Erin, to ask for <strong>your help</strong>.

<div><strong>Lee was diagnosed with ALS</strong>, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, in December 2022, after nearly two years of falls and drastically declining mobility and health.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>ALS is a terminal neurodegenerative disease in which a person's brain loses connection with the muscles, and nerves die off. People with ALS lose their ability to walk, talk, eat, and eventually breathe, with a life expectancy of 2–5 years from onset.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Our goal</strong> is to raise enough funds to help Lee live his last few years comfortably in his home, help with transportation and medical costs, and make sure he can access in-home care to help with his daily needs.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Lee can no longer walk and is in a wheelchair full time, with hand and arm weakness increasing. He is currently under care at the UW Hospital in Madison, where he gets treatment for his ALS symptoms, and therefore must travel to Madison frequently.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Erin is working full time and providing round-the-clock care for Lee, as well as caring for their daily needs, their dog Dakota, and their home. <strong>She endeavors to give Lee a life of love, fun, adventure, and experience</strong> <strong>as much as possible in his limited remaining years. </strong> In addition, Erin is planning some bucket list trips for Lee over the next two years, so they can travel before he is no longer able.

<div>Lee is currently working from home on a limited schedule, and will continue to reduce his hours through 2023, with “retirement” anticipated within a year.
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>Lee and Erin will need funds mainly for Lee’s in-home medical care in his last few years with us.</strong> Erin will need to continue to work full time to pay the bills and keep them in their home, with moderate unpaid time off from work. As Lee’s condition progresses, his care needs will increase, requiring in-home healthcare assistance daily. In-home healthcare is not covered by insurance, or any programs Lee will be eligible for, and <strong>costs are estimated $50k– $100k annually</strong>.

<div>Additionally, they will need funds for home modifications, assistance with their recently purchased wheelchair van, medical expenses, a more accessible power wheelchair, and eventually hospice care.

ALS Fundraiser for Lee

<div>Hi, there! For those who don't know me, my name is Andii Heath. I'm a Milwaukee-area musician with Neurofibromatosis II. Simply put, I don't have a fancy tumor suppressor gene that most folks have, so this means my body likes to grow benign tumors along the nerves throughout my body. I have some peppered a little bit of everywhere, including on my left sciatic nerve, my left shoulder, and some small ones on my spinal cord and brain.
</div>

<div>This obviously sucks for, well, lots of reasons, but as a musician, the biggest tragedy of this disorder for me has been my bilateral acoustic neuromas. These are brain tumors on the auditory nerves in my brain; tumors that will eventually rob me of my hearing altogether.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, there's very little that can be done for these tumors other than resection, i.e. brain surgery. I was hoping to put that off for a nice long while, but my left AN unexpectedly grew quite a bit over the last two years, and now doctors are concerned about the effect it may have on my facial and balance nerves, which are nestled right next to the acoustic nerve. So, alas, it is time.

</div>
<div>Costs for the surgery (called a retromastoid craniotomy) and hospital stay are going to depend on how the hospital submits the charges to Medicare after the fact, but I can likely expect to pay 20% of those fees if they're submitted under Part B. Based on Google's estimated cost for these procedures, even with 80% coverage, that's still going to leave me with several thousand dollars to pay out-of-pocket, more than likely.

</div>
<div>That being said, I don't feel comfortable just throwing a random number out there because I truly am aiming to be as transparent as possible about my financial needs, so once I have those actual figures after the surgery, I'll update my campaign goal to reflect that.
</div>

<div>In the meantime, here is what this current total of $4800 will go towards:

Bechdolt Family Needs Your Help!

We are raising seed money to start an Alternative Peer Group in Austin, Texas. Our goal is providing direct support to adolescents and their families and fostering a safe and healthy group for kids to find recovery from the harm caused by alcohol and drugs. We offer a safe place for teens to attend daily meetings and build connections with other members without the added pressures of drugs and alcohol. <br /><br />Sadly becoming official costs thousands of dollars. The money donated goes to the legal fees required to start a nonprofit organization as well as to our summer programming we are offering until we officially open in August.<br /><br />Our team of four consists of people who have all been through and graduated from Alternative Peer Groups ourselves. We have the experience and knowledge needed to create an alternative peer group capable of meeting the needs of Austin.<br /><br />We are members and allies of the Youth Recovery Network and are currently filing for our personal non-profit status.

My sister, Lora, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer (Triple Negative, Stage III) on December 14, 2017 at the age of 30.  <br /><br />Lora started chemotherapy in January and is approaching her “half-way" mark (last treatment is scheduled for June 12, 2018).  However, her battle will not end there.  She will have to have a bilateral total mastectomy with breast reconstruction followed by radiation therapy. Lora is handling this devastating news with such grace and dignity. She refuses to let this diagnosis define her, and is ready for the fight of her life. <br /><br />Lora has dedicated her life to helping others by working as a registered nurse for the past eight years.  She in unable to work right now due to her rigorous weekly chemotherapy treatments, supressed immune system, and the extensive recovery from her upcoming surgery.  Her medical bills are piling up (currently over $9,000) as well as her daily living expenses.  <br /><br />Lora has always been a free-spirit who sees the good in everyone. She is loving and compassionate, incredibly fierce and strong, humble and forgiving.  Lora is the boldest and bravest person I know. Layne Andrew Miller, was born on September 27th, 2017 at 4lbs and 11ounces. He passed away on February 7th at home in the comfort of his mom and dad’s arms. He is survived by his parents, Stacey and Andrew and his brother Lincoln. <br />There are no words to express the pain that is being experienced in their household . I lack the ability to describe the emptiness in their hearts. No mom or dad should ever have to bury their baby. It's a pain that I pray no parent has to endure.<br />Baby Layne might have only had 4 short months in this world but he left many amazing memories for his family.<br />From the day they obtained his Ultrasound, it was evident he was going to be a fighter someday, as his little fingers held a pistol-like position and stayed that way throughout. Never would we have thought he would be fighting for his life at just 4 months old. Every doctor and nurse at St. Mary's and American Family Children's in Madison loved taking care of him, he was a calm beautiful baby boy with big blue eyes. <br />Every time Stacey and Andy look at Lincoln, they will always see Layne in him as they share the same big beautiful blue eyes and the same little birthmark on their foreheads. Layne loved snuggles from Mommy and Daddy and loved when Lincoln would come visit too. Lincoln always made it fun because he is such a little ladies man with the nurses and would always be so excited to go see Brother Layne. <br />As you can imagine, Stacey and Andrew are in a complete haze. No one can ever prepare for something like this. They are struggling with the idea of a Go-Fund-Me. However, we know that down the road they will need these funds to keep them afloat during a very difficult time.<br />Over the next few weeks they will need to pay for funeral arrangements and the finances that they are incurring from taking time off to grieve and all the bills that have added up during Baby Layne's hospital stay. We are hoping to lighten their financial burden in general so Stacey and Andrew can focus on grieving as long as possible. We would be incredibly thankful for anything you can give.<br /><br />Few words from Stacey:<br />"On September 27th 2017 Andy and myself welcomed beautiful baby Layne Andrew Miller one month early into this world. We were so blessed and excited to have him a part of our family. After 13 long emotional weeks our baby was diagnosed with ATR-x syndrome( about 200 in the world, only affecting boys) and duplication of 8q chromosome.( uw has never seen this) At this point Layne had already been through so much and surprised all NICU staff with his strength and courage and continued to fight. Although he continued to fight, he still had a life long journey ahead of him. After 133 days Ultimately Layne Andrew passed on February 7th due to Respiratory failure. Ever since this journey began we wanted him home as a whole family so bad. The UW NICU Staff and Layne fought hard to get him home to spend his last precious moments together with his family. We are beyond hurt and lost but trying our best to keep our heads up strong for Lincoln and Layne. Baby Layne 

Glendon Booth, a single father of 3 children has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Dalton attends Small Middle School and Loraine and Marie attend Oak Hill. <br /><br />Like all fathers, he wants nothing but the best for his kids. And like all fathers, he thought he’d have all the time in the world to help with homework, cheer them on at sporting events, teach them to drive, attend their graduations, take family vacations, and walk his daughters down the aisle.<br /><br />But all that came to a crashing halt when he received the devastating news that he has an aggressive and fatal form of cancer, and will likely not live longer than 6 months.<br /><br />With little to no family support, Glendon is all they have. The cancer is acting quickly, and he is now too ill to continue working. He desperately needs your support for the family’s living expenses.<br /><br />Glendon is a proud and humble man who would never ordinarily ask for help in this way. But this is not an ordinary situation. It’s quite literally life and death.<br /><br />With the children being so young, the only legacy he can hope to leave them with is memories. <p dir="ltr">Our loving son, brother, dad, husband and great friend Greg Marcussen has been fighting Myelofibrosis Cancer for some time now. It was a shock to all to find out he was battling a rare Bone Marrow Cancer that has now lead to Anemia and a bad enlargement of his Spleen as well as possible Lukemia.<br>
The doctors have given Greg 30 months to live unless he has a bone marrow transplant within the next two months. The transplant could be life saving at this point. We were so grateful to find his youngest brother, Joe, to be an exact match which&#160; gives Greg the best chance for survival providing his body doesn't reject the procedure.<br>
Our family is asking our friends, neighbors, family and anyone who can help him in this fight and is willing to help us with donations for all of these huge mounting expenses now and for what's to come.<br>
Joe will need to be in Wisconsin in the hospital for days of testing, blood work, shots to up his stem cells and the painful Bone Marrow extractions. Greg will be hospitalized at the same time as Joe for upwards of over a month just for this Transplant and many more times after. He will be undergoing extremely painfull heavy doses of Chemotherapy and Radiation and then of course the Bone Marrow Transplant if all goes well. There is a very long recovery time after the transplant. Greg can no longer work and needs help with his family and monthly bills as well as his mounting and still rising medical expenses. We are asking if everyone could find it in their hearts to donate and to help any way possible and we hope all of our strength together will help save Greg's life. <br>
