<div>I'm asking for help after an altercation with a racist in the Denver airport where I defended myself. Since then, I've been dealing with a possible hand injury and bouts of anxiety since the incident. Ive since needed to start intensive therapy to work through the situation
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div> My mother is typing this for me because my anxiety is going off the charts right now. This situation has left me trying to deal with both the physical pain and the stress of what comes next.
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div> I'm a disabled veteran living on a fixed income, so these unexpected costs are more than I can handle on my own. Donations will help pay for medical expenses and legal fees related to this incident.
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div> If you're able to give, any support would mean a lot to me right now. Even sharing this fundraiser would help as I try to get through this and cover the costs ahead.

<div>There are people who make your street a neighborhood. 96 year old Nat Horne has made 47th street his home since 1968. We can’t imagine the street without him and want to keep him there. He needs your help to do that.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In 1952 Nat became the first African-American to dance as a corps member in the U.S. Military’s Special Services. After serving in the Army he moved to NYC, became an original member of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and appeared in twelve Broadway shows. Nat was also one of the founders of New York’s “Theatre Row” on West 42nd Street: The former Nat Horne Musical Theatre (NHMT) was NYC’s first professional school that integrated acting, singing and dance, inspiring students from all over the world.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Despite exemplary bodily health at 96, Nat has recently had hip replacement surgery. He is classified as legally blind and diagnosed with dementia, requiring 24-hour attendants. His long-term care has drained his savings. Nat gave generously to his students well into his 80’s, from preschoolers to Broadway performers. Now he needs our financial help.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It is our chance to give something back to him. Your donations will pay for rent, out-of-pocket medical care, and home health care aides to help keep Nat moving and singing in the place he's called home for 57 years. Yes, he is still singing at 96 ! He may forget to take his pills, but he remembers the words to the songs he sang in his heyday. Please help and share this message on and off social media so that Mr. Horne can stay in his home and in our lives. We cherish him.

Support Nat Horne: Help Keep A Legend at Home

<div>
 What was meant to be a special family trip to Jamaica to celebrate his birthday has turned into every family’s worst nightmare.

</div>

<div>
 <br />

</div>

<div>
 While visiting Jamaica for the first time in almost a decade, <strong>Chef Jason Briscoe was struck by a truck while riding his bicycle, suffering multiple life-threatening injuries</strong>. By the grace of God, Jason is currently stable, but he is still facing a long and difficult road ahead.

</div>

<div>
 <br />

</div>

<div>
 Jason urgently needs to be<strong> airlifted from Jamaica to a hospital in Florida</strong>, where he can receive the specialized medical care he needs including surgeries. <strong>His recovery will require extensive treatment, rehabilitation, time and care.</strong>

</div>

<div>
 <br />

</div>

<div>
 Anyone who knows Jason knows that he is passionate about cooking and has built a community online by sharing traditional Jamaican recipes and his love for the culture.

</div>

<div>
 <br />

</div>

<div>
 It is <strong>heartbreaking that while visiting the place that has inspired so much of what he shares with the world, Jason experienced such a devastating accident</strong>.

</div>

<div>
 <br />

</div>

<div>
 But Jason is so much more than a chef and content creator. <strong>He is a devoted husband, a proud father, and a true family man who absolutely adores his two daughters.</strong>

</div>

<div>
 <br />

</div><img alt="" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/107523095_1787953038186783_r.jpg" width="100%" />

<div>
 <br />

</div>

<div>
 <strong>We are asking Jason’s friends, family, followers, community, and everyone whose life he has touched to come together for him.</strong>

</div>

<div>
 <br />

</div>

<div>
 Every donation, no matter the amount, will <strong>help cover his medical evacuation, any surgeries, hospital care, rehabilitation, post-op care</strong> and the many unexpected expenses that come with this freak accident.

</div>

<div>
 <br />

</div>

<div>
 If you’re able to give, <strong>thank you from the bottom of our hearts</strong>. And if you aren’t able to donate, sharing this fundraiser can help us reach more people who know and love Jason.

</div>

<div>
 <br />

</div>

<div>
 <strong>Please keep Chef Briscoe and his family in your thoughts and prayers as we fight to bring him home and support him on the long road to recovery ❤️</strong>

</div>
<div><strong><br /></strong>
</div>
<div>My name is Chinenye “Tash” Amadi. I’m best friends with, Taylor Middleton—Jason’s wife—and god mother to their child. Taylor and Jason are the sole beneficiaries and proprietors of these funds and will use them to cover all of his medical and legal expenses. I will have no access to the donations, Taylor is the beneficiary of the fundraiser and in charge of making withdrawals.

<div>Hello everyone. It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that our community elder, Denise Oliver Velez, is in rapid decline with the return of her brain tumor. We are asking for community support in this time to help us keep her comfortable during her final days, cover funeral costs, and assist her disabled husband with his transition into the next stage of life without his wife. Many of you have known Denise as a revolutionary activist, a writer, a teacher, a priestess, and a friend; among many other titles she’s earned throughout her life. As a woman who devoted her entire being to community and justice, we are asking you to help us in giving her the farewell she deserves. We also welcome your prayers, kind words, and good memories of Denise in this difficult time.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you.
</div>

Honoring the Legacy of Denise Oliver Velez

<div>Hello my name is Tammy I want to first thank each and everyone that has called my brother, sent a text, visited him in the hospital or just sent a prayer of healing and love.I am raising a GoFundMe for my brother Marcus Nash who has had a stroke on 11/25/25 unexpectedly.My brother suffered a hemorrhagic stroke (brain bleed) from a ruptured blood vessel due to a hypertensive crisis. As many of you that have known my brother has been suffering from depression from the loss our dear mother causing elevation to his blood pressure for some time now.Marcus was admitted in the Emergency room but soon after transferred to ICU with blood pressure 260/200. Marcus became confused and disoriented and could not remember simple things like his name, age or basic things such as a cat or dog.He was sent to ICU for close monitoring and is being treated conservatively with the proper medications to treat the brain bleed.
</div>
<div>At this time my brother vital signs are stable but he still remains to forget things and continue to go in and out of confusion.He is getting better and will need help with day to day essentials when he return to home.
</div>
<div>On behalf of my brother I started this Go FundMe to help him with medical care, rent, bills, rehabilitation , and food prep for the next several months until he can go back to his normal routine.I appreciate any help for him you can provide even if it’s just thoughts and prayers.Marcus is my only brother and has done exceptionally well in his acting career and has been able to finally provide for himself. With your help he can be at peace not worrying about not being able to provide for himself and to help get him back to what he loves the most. Thank you all in advance for anything you can donate for this cause We love you all!

Help Marcus Nash Rebuild After Stroke

<div>A few weeks ago, Anjene “AJ” Davis experienced a massive heart attack and is now waiting on a heart transplant. He needs our support to help cover necessities for him and his family as he recovers. AJ has been working tirelessly on the frontlines in South Carolina as a public education advocate, racial justice warrior, community leader and parent organizer. He is the founder of the Lowcountry Black Parents Association and co-founder of Pro-Truth South Carolina, a statewide coalition working to protect and expand the teaching of diverse and inclusive history. AJ is dearly loved and respected by many in South Carolina and nationally.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On top of working full-time at the Charleston County School District, being a father, and serving as caregiver to his mother, AJ is constantly advocating for children and families so that they may have an improved quality of life. Among the issues he champions are fully funded and equitable public education for all, affordable housing, and a living wage. He serves his community by volunteering with numerous local organizations, his membership in the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and his leadership on several boards. In 2023, he received the XI PHI LAMBDA Service Award in Civic Engagement and Political Activism. To see AJ share why he organizes for education justice check out: <a href="https://www.healtogether.org/story-corner." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">www.healtogether.org/story-corner.</a>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Anjene has given so much of his time to the movement and we are asking for the movement to show him love and support during this difficult time. We understand that not everyone will be able to donate large amounts of money, but as organizing has taught us, many people working together make things happen. Whatever you can give will go a long way to getting Anjene to a place where he won't need to worry about financial burdens on top of the everyday worries he carries.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Anjene has shared that this is a learning moment for his community to understand lessons he had to learn the hard way. He said “I’ve put my heart and soul into this work and have done so without hesitation. But I’m learning that I also need to set limits on how much I give of myself. My health and my body also require my care and I’ve neglected to give it the same energy that I have committed to organizing."
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>May we all learn from his wisdom. Thank you for your support for our beloved friend and comrade.

<div>UPDATED FINANCIAL SUPPORT

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>We are trying to raise ongoing financial support for refugees in East Africa. Thanks to the generosity of folk, all forty refugees were rehoused.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Now we need to raise $3 a day per person to ensure that everyone is fed, watered, and receives any necessary medical care.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>I have updated the fundraising amount and kindly ask people to continue donating to ensure that the following costs are met:

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>1. FOOD

</div>

<div>2. CLEAN WATER

</div>

<div>3. ONGOING MEDICAL CARE (HIV medications primarily)

</div>

<div>4. HYGIENE PRODUCTS (tampons, sanitary pads, etc)

</div>

<div>5. CONTINGENCY (to ensure that any emergency costs can be covered)

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>The situation is very precarious, and without ongoing institutional support, it's difficult to ensure people's safety.

</div>

</div>

<div>With your support, however, we can ensure that Noel and his group can survive the difficult circumstances.

<div>There are currently over 100 LGBT and Queer refugees who are being forcibly expelled from Gorom Refugee Camp and urgently need financial assistance to relocate.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>The authorities are not providing any alternatives and will forcibly evict people if they do not leave.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>The deadline to leave is today (26th May 2025). Without financial support, queer people, including women and their children, will be destitute.

<div>Our baby girl, Louise Ingram-Solivan has a full tear in her back right knee that is requiring surgery. A dog’s life expectancy greatly decreases if they lose mobility making this surgery a nonnegotiable. If you know us you know that Louise is our heart and joy and has been with us the bulk of our time together and we’d love to have many more years with her.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Many have asked for a GoFundMe account to be set up so that you could bless him, and any amount would be greatly appreciated! <strong>He is honored and grateful for the love and appreciation that you have shown him thus far.</strong> He never thought in a million years that something like this would happen to him and for him. Rayshaun is truly honored and overjoyed for the love and support that is being shown to him. <div>Hi! Since 2019, we’ve been the nation’s only all black boys gymnastics team. We’re located in Jonesboro, Georgia, about 15 miles south of Atlanta. We are also the only gymnastics club in our entire county, which includes 7 cities.
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/88002931_1759296719676866_r.jpeg" width="100%" />
<div>Our gym also offers girls competitive gymnastics, recreational and tumbling classes and a dance program.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On August 1, we had to close down. Our lease in our small location ended but strict zoning laws would not allow us to relocate to a larger building. The team hasn't been able to practice since then.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But we will begin training again in November in a temporary location so our team can get back on the competition floor.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We've also found an amazing building in our county to serve as a permanent location. This building is for sale and has the right space and ceiling height we need, and it is zoned appropriately for gymnastics.
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/88002931_1759296666361957_r.jpeg" width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This building is for sale at $450,000. It has been vacant for a few years and needs a little TLC. But it is perfect for our team, and if we could buy it, it would serve as a permanent location for kids to do gymnastics in our county.
</div>

<div><br />
</div>
<div>We're raising money for a down payment on the building and to start the necessary renovations to make the building ready
</div>
<div>for gymnastics.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We're dedicating this fundraiser to this goal and asking if you could assist us in buying this building to ensure all kids in our area always have a place to do gymnastics.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you all so much for your support for our gymnastics team. Any amount is greatly appreciated.

<div>On June 14th, our sweet friend Laura lost her beloved husband Arthur Folasa Ah Loo, known to many as Afa. He was tragically killed during the No Kings protest in Salt Lake City, Utah.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Afa was a proud Samoan, deeply connected to his culture and community. Through his work with the nonprofit Creative Pacific and his incredible talent as a fashion designer, he shared his heritage with passion and creativity. But more than anything, Afa was proud of the life he built with his wife, Laura, and their two beautiful children, Vera and Isaac.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This unimaginable loss has left a profound void in their lives. Family and friends are coming together to raise funds to help Laura with funeral expenses and to ease the immediate financial burdens she now faces. Funds raised will be sent directly to Laura via the GoFundMe transfer.

<div>“This statement is officially direct from the parent of the young boy who was berated at Soldier’s Field at Rochester, Minnesota. The statement goes as follows:
</div>
<div>•	We as the parents of the young boy, demand that those responsible for this tragic event, the unimaginable pain that has affected our beloved child, be held fully accountable. Our child deserves justice and we will not rest until it is served. We appeal to all members of our community both locally and globally to condemn violence and work together to stop it.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>•	As the parents of the young boy, as we navigate the emotional , legal and medical challenges ahead , we are asking the public for Financial Support. These unexpected costs are significant and generosity will help us focus on what matters most: Caring for our child and pursuing accountability. There are individuals who are attempting to benefit financially from the assault that happened to us. We request the authorities to protect us and stop people from using our pain for profit.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>•	As the parent of the young boy at the park, our family's safety is no longer guaranteed , we are becoming increasingly vulnerable as more people gain access to our private information including where we live. We are calling on the public , the media and the local authorities to respect our safety and privacy. We are doing everything we can to secure our environment and shield our child from further trauma but we cannot do it alone.
</div>

<div><strong>Important Ways to Support</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With care and positive intention, the Rochester Branch of the NAACP launched a <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-us-seek-justice-for-a-5yearold-facing-racial-hate" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">GoFundMe campaign to support the young victim and </a>his family. Thanks to your overwhelming generosity, we not only met our goal—we surpassed it. <strong>Together, we raised $341,484 in just two days. Love wins!</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>One hundred percent of these funds—minus standard GoFundMe fees—will be placed in a trust account, with the parents serving as executors. The trust will be managed solely by the family, as it should be. This approach reflects the spirit in which these donations were made: out of love, protection, and a commitment to the long-term well-being of the child and their family. No member of the Rochester Branch of the NAACP has received, or will receive, any portion of these donations.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please note that the family has since launched their own GoFundMe campaigns. Our branch is not, and will not be, affiliated with any current or future fundraising related to this case. For those wishing to provide continued financial support, the Rochester Branch of the NAACP has verified the following:

</div>
<div><strong>This is more than one incident</strong>
</div>
<div>As noted above, the Rochester Branch of the NAACP will not engage in any additional GoFundMe activities related to this matter. Our focus remains on social justice, accountability, and community healing.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Rochester Branch of the NAACP deeply values the trust and confidence the public has placed in us. As members of the community ourselves, and as members of the NAACP, we have vowed to put the principles of equality and justice under the law above our own personal or individual interests. We thank you for your continued trust.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are witnessing a disturbing rise in racially motivated acts: racist slurs hurled at a child, slurs painted on a public bridge near a high school, a noose and effigy used to intimidate a Black family, swastikas and racial epithets defacing a local representative’s home, and repeated acts of Islamophobia and antisemitism. This is more than one incident.
</div>

<div>Your support helps sustain our broader efforts—fighting systemic racism, transforming culture, and ensuring incidents like this never happen again. <div><strong>5/3/25 - Love Wins! Rochester Branch of the NAACP Stands with 5-year old child</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Rochester, MN – We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who gave so generously in response to the painful and heartbreaking incident involving a young Black child who was subjected to racial hate at a public park. Your compassion, your solidarity, and your belief in love over hate have been overwhelming—and deeply moving.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>From the beginning, this campaign was rooted in a powerful truth: no child should ever be dehumanized, and love must always be louder than hate. People from across the country and around the world responded, sending a clear message that this child, this family, and this moment matter.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Rochester Branch of the NAACP acted swiftly in response to the verbal assault and emotional harm captured in the now widely shared video. With care and positive intention, we launched a GoFundMe campaign to support the young victim and his family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thanks to your outpouring of support, we not only met our goal—we surpassed it. Together, we raised $341,484. Love wins! In response to the family’s wishes, we have now closed the GoFundMe page.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In alignment with State NAACP guidance, 100% of this money, minus standard GoFundMe fees, will be given to the family in a trust account with the parents serving as executors. The responsibility of the trust account will rest solely with the family, as it should. The creation of this trust reflects the spirit in which these donations were made—out of love, protection, and a desire to support the long-term well-being of the child and family. No member of the Rochester Branch of the NAACP has received - or will receive - funds from these donations.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We stand in full solidarity with the child and his family—and with all those who believe in building a community where dignity, justice, and love prevail. We are united in saying “Not in Our Town"

<div>---------------------------------------------------------------------------
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>How did this start?</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On April 30, 2025, in a City of Rochester public park, a white woman <a href="https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1BS18BAwr4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">launched a racist and hateful verbal assault on a </a> defenseless 5-year-old Black child—who, according to reports, is also on the autism spectrum. She called him the n-word, and when confronted by a bystander, she didn’t back down. Instead, she repeated the slur multiple times and attempted to justify her actions by blaming the child. At no point did she show any remorse.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Let us be clear: this was not a misunderstanding or a moment of poor judgment—this was a deliberate, racist, and threatening attack on a young Black child. Public parks should be safe, welcoming places for all children and families—not sites of hate and trauma.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The <a href="https://www.naacprochestermn.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Rochester Branch of the NAACP</a> is taking this matter with the utmost seriousness. We are standing up for this child, his family, and every member of our community who deserves to live free from racist violence and intimidation.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Shockingly, the woman responsible for this hateful act has launched a fundraising campaign for herself and has raised nearly $150,000 in less than 24 hours. Many of the comments from her supporters celebrate and justify her hate.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We’ve been asked by countless community members how they can help. This campaign is our answer.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>All funds from this campaign will go towards the affected child and family including:
</div>
<div>•	Legal redress and social justice efforts in support of the child and family.
</div>
<div>•	Legal advocacy, accountability, and restorative efforts, also in support of the child and family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Community members wishing to support our broader social justice and anti-racism work – to change the culture and ensure this never happens again – are encouraged to donate directly to our Rochester Branch of the NAACP’s Fighting Fund for Freedom.
</div>
<div><a href="https://rochesterbranchnaacp.betterworld.org/donat" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><a href="https://rochesterbranchnaacp.betterworld.org/donat" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://rochesterbranchnaacp.betterworld.org/donat</a></a>e

<div>After a day of being surrounded by friends and family, Kevin Carpenter passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of March 29, 2025, while I read him one of his favorite works, “Goodnight Moon.”
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>He approached death with the same humor, curiosity, and straightforwardness that defined his life, and he brought a lot of joy and laughter to every caregiver and medical provider who worked with him. The last time he played the piano was in the MD Anderson foyer, barely able to sit up but determined as hell to play that baby grand for the other people suffering there with him.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>He was, in all things, a stunning and wonderful, strange and beautiful person, and he will be fiercely missed by everyone who knew him.
</div>

<div>Goodnight stars, goodnight air. Goodnight noises everywhere. Goodnight, sweet friend.

Remembering Chris Bernard: Please Support His Family

<div>April 29 update: I started this GoFundMe five months ago after my friend and former journalism colleague Allison Quinn’s 8-year-old son Aedrik was diagnosed with a brutal neurodegenerative disorder, X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy. It’s rare, genetic, and very often fatal. Allison, recently unemployed and coping with progressive multiple sclerosis, needed resources to get Aedrik the best care possible and a shot at survival.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Nearly 500 people donated, allowing Allison to bring Aedrik from Illinois to Minnesota, where one of the best specialists in ALD works, for treatment. He underwent a risky and grueling stem cell transplant, lost his hair and an awful lot of weight, and endured a series of truly horrible side effects.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The good news is that Aedrik has nearly reached the end of the high-risk 100-day post-transplant period with no major complications, and we are hopeful that it will stall the progression of this disease. In the coming weeks, with any luck, Allison and Aedrik should be able to leave the Ronald McDonald House and go home — with plans to return to Minneapolis for frequent follow-up appointments.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We have increased the goal on this GoFundMe because Allison and Aedrik need extra help to get through the next few months. Medical co-pays and travel expenses consumed more than $20,000 of the original donations, and Allison still had to keep up on rent and other bills while tending to Aedrik around the clock. In addition, she’s paying COBRA premiums of $2,000 a month on private health insurance because Medicaid won’t cover out-of-state treatment.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Allison has started looking for a remote position with health benefits (know of anything?) but we are asking for donations to tide her over and pay for health insurance until she lands something. We know it’s a lot to ask in this time of economic uncertainty, and whatever you can spare is truly appreciated. We will keep you all updated on Aedrik’s progress – he really is a remarkable little human – and please keep him in your thoughts.

Aedrik, 8, needs a little more help in his fight against ALD

<div>Hi,
</div>
<div>My name is Danielle and I am trying to fundraise enough money to help my family and I pay for my brain surgery to remove my tumor at a specialty hospital this Christmas at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div class="youtube-replace"><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The past few years have been very hard on me and my family. I had my Part-time hours as an Educator at the zoo cut because I could not work to my full extent and am not making enough to help my parents in my accruing care. My mother could not work because she had to care for me and therefore lost her job the same week she was diagnosed with heart issues. My brother wound up in a car accident with ongoing issues of his own, and my dad is working himself sick, to help financially provide for me. My dad even dipped into savings to buy me a wheelchair for Christmas, so I could keep my job and help me with insurance via the Marketplace. I have lost most friendships, had to drop out of University, and had to stop volunteering at the wildlife center hospital where I worked every Friday.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>After years of diagnostics and specialists, in 2023, my mother used her inheritance to help get me finally diagnosed with a microadenoma.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Although small, this tumor (and any others they find) has slowly been poisoning my body with an overdose of chemicals for longer than any human body is supposed to sustain and it has been life-altering for me and my family. The symptoms I have experienced I won't even describe, but they have made me feel not even like a human being, and every morning I wake up crying in pain.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li>If untreated, this condition is often <strong>fatal in humans. </strong>
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It is usually slow and handicaps people before they die.
</div>
<div>It is handicapping me severely. I am getting worse. I am deteriorating beyond the most revolting and unimaginable limits. I have lost control of my body.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li><strong><em>Removing this tumor is going to end up costing my family over $100,000</em></strong>
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Despite Insurance Benefits, the hospital says surgery will cost <strong>$96,443.61</strong>
</div>
<div>The hospital is requesting <strong>$67,510.53</strong> upfront at Check-In and we pay the rest on a payment plan (Photo Below - Details at bottom)
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="83705149_1730869299771175_r." media_type="null" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/83705149_1730869299771175_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This does not include additional fees and costs such as potentially my pre-op appointment <strong>($1,462)</strong>, Facility Fees, Lab fees, Anesthesia, Post-op Drug Treatment, Room and Board, Travel Costs (we live in IL), etc. As a specialty hospital in Texas, the hospital and BCBS say the hospital has a right to refuse all individual marketplace PPOs, even if they are In-Network. I was referred to Houston because of the specialty levels that reside at this specialty hospital. This surgeon in Texas is the surgeon my endocrinologist trusts to accomplish what I medically need to get this particular tumor successfully removed from my head, as he has done for many patients like me.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My family has already spent thousands of limited inheritance and savings on local specialists, out-of-state specialists, diagnostics, medication, labs, care, supplies, out-of-pocket mobility devices, driving me around as I lose my ability to drive, dental care as my teeth fall out, and lots of other help I’ve needed and costs accrued as I have gotten worse.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Between watching their son in pain, their daughter dying, losing income and vehicles, legal fees due to the accident, their own aging and health challenges, and other hefty and unexpected expenses... I cannot ask my family to pay $100,000+ more on me. They don’t even have it to sacrifice if they want to.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I cried last Halloween thinking it was my last. I hate roller coasters but rode one a couple of years back with my brother (when I was still able to) because I wanted him to have that memory for when I was gone. I paid for extra medical treatments so my 2 best friends would have me at their weddings, I wrote my family letters, I made a will, I save every video my best friend sends me of her daughters, I told the ocean goodbye when I went to LA to see a specialist. I tell my family I love them every day, and every day at work I stop and take a moment to look around and tell myself that even though I did not do all the good that I wanted to do for animals and this earth, I am thankful for what I got to do in my time I had.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In July I was given hope of life and purpose back. But as my cousin said, “The Price of Life” is one I recently learned, I cannot afford.
</div>
<div>I don’t want to die. I have so much more for I want to do for this world.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If anyone has any additional questions, I have posted some more details below the photos. Please help me pay for this surgery and post-op fees, so I can give back to my family, help more animals like I used to, teach more children about the planet, and overall stay to do more for this world. I know I'm meant to.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thanks so much,
</div>

<div>PS. If you would like Insurance or finance info, it is below.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li><strong>Why No Insurance? -</strong> The state of Texas is not contracted with the Affordable Care Act, which means even though I am In-Network with both the Hospital and the surgeon for out-of-state care, a Texas specialty hospital such as a cancer center like mine, can refuse my In-Network insurance since my PPO was purchased off the Insurance Marketplace, and not provided to me via an employer or a spouse. This also means if I purchase a new plan during this current enrollment period, I will run into the same issue. I do not work full time and cannot work full time due to my health, especially not long enough for Full-Time benefits to kick in. I am not married and I am older than 26 yrs old.
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Why No Other Surgeon? -</strong> There are no feasible surgical options for me right now aside from Houston. Los Angeles refers to Houston because of the specialty levels. This specialty surgeon in Texas is the only surgeon who can accomplish what I medically need.
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>Why Over 100k? - </strong>The hospital needs $1,462 for my pre-op appointment and $96,443.51 for the operation. This does not include additional fees and costs such as added-on hospital fees, labs, anesthesia, post-op drug treatment, etc. The financial department told moreover the phone, there is no limit for an Out-of-Network, Out-Of-Pocket Maximum, so the hospital could potentially hold me accountable for an unlimited price point.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Is There a Payment Plan? -</strong> The hospital will not offer me a payment plan for the operation unless I pay an initial down-payment of $67,510.53 at check-in. If I do not have that, they will turn me away and cancel surgery.
</div>
<div>If I pay in FULL AT CHECK-IN, they will discount the surgical cost to also, $67,510.53.
</div>
<div>Again, this does not include additional costs such as my Pre-Op Appointment ($1,462), Lab Fees, Room and Board, Anesthesia, Facility Fees, In-Patient Days (Est. 3-7 Days), Travel costs, etc.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Who Have We Reached Out To? -</strong> Attorney General of Houston, The Attorney General of Chicago, The Department of Insurance of Texas and The Department of Insurance of Illinois, The Illinois Health Department, Human Support Services IL, Texas Medical Board, UI Health, Illinois Health and Hospital Association, Healthcare Division Department, Health and Human Services Commissions of Texas, Private Texas Attorney Referral Service, Legal Department Disability Rights of Texas (Houston, Austin, and General Office), National Organization of Rare Diseases, Insurance Broker, and the Insurance Marketplace, in addition to multiple calls and even conference calls with Blue Cross Blue Shield and MD Anderson Hospital.

<div><strong>Why over Christmas? - </strong>That's unfortunately just when they scheduled me.

After overcoming his recent battle with LGL Leukemia, he is now diagnosed with <strong>MDS Cancer</strong>, and faces another bout with cancer of the bone marrow.

<div><strong>11/4 UPDATE:</strong> We are so sorry to bring you this devastating update. Ten-year-old Kisasi passed away today. Kisasi - or "Sauce the Boss" - brought so much joy to the lives of so many. was surrounded by loving family members every moment he spent in the hospital. Please continue to wrap your arms around Akili and her family.
</div>
<div>**************************************************************************************
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Akili Ramsess, a dear friend and colleague to so many, lost her eldest son, the beautiful and talented Taraja, and three of her grandchildren - Taraja’s 13-year-old daughter Sundari and 8-week-old daughter, and 10-year-old son Kisasi - in a horrific traffic accident on Oct. 31. We are not sure what her immediate needs are, but we know there will be many. Anyone who knows Akili knows that her greatest joys are her three boys and 10 grandchildren. Her love and devotion to her family knows no limits.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We will continue to update this posting with more information as it becomes available and as Akili and her family are ready to release it. I know you share our feelings that this devastating loss is unfathomable, and we are just trying to take a first step in helping Akili down the very long road ahead. Please give what you can.

Akili Ramsess has suffered a devastating loss

<div>Hello all. I've been diagnosed with both lung and brain cancers, and am currently undergoing treatment - both chemo and now radiation. My doc feels like they both can be beat! Unfortunately, the co-pays for treatment have wiped out my savings -and my home is no longer insured due to needing a new roof- so I'm reaching out for help to cover both treatment costs and to put a non-leaking roof on our home. Anything you can send to help will be a blessing! If you can't - your prayers and healing thoughts are welcome too!
</div>
<div>Much love to you all. Pa'lante!

Vincent Williams Fundraiser

<div>Hi, my name is Alex. My mom, Samantha, is only 46 years old, but <strong>she is facing her <em>second </em>battle with cancer. </strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I was only 11 years old, a 5th grader, the first time she had cancer. It was <strong>stage 1 breast cancer</strong><em> and she beat it</em>.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Now, I am 20 years old and going into my third year of college. On July 31st my mom was diagnosed with <strong>stage 3 bladder cancer. </strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Anyone who knows my mom knows how strong she is. Not only has she beat cancer once and worked her way up from a waitress to general manager at her restaurant, but she raised two wonderful kids - my brother Thomas and I. My mom is one of the most resilient people I know. Despite this, we're scared. Stage 3 bladder cancer is much different from stage 1 breast cancer. She can't get chemo again, trials are too risky, so that leaves us with surgery. <strong>On September 7th my mom will be getting her bladder removed as well as a hysterectomy. </strong>The recovery period is about 10 weeks. That's 10 weeks without work and without pay. This 10-week period is not long enough to qualify for any federal aid, but it is enough time to leave my mom stressed about money when she should be focused on recovering.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>These funds will help support my mom through her cancer treatment and recovery while she cannot work. The medical bills are already starting to pile up. Any support is appreciated. Please share.

<div>Please help Jack!
</div>
<div>We know Jack as vibrant, fun, sarcastic, and a doting father of two. Currently, he is facing a literal life and death trial. Jack has chronic kidney disease and he needs a donor kidney. His beautiful daughter Saoirse volunteered to give one of her kidneys to her father, but with one kidney 20% smaller than the other, doctors determined she could not be a donor. Meanwhile, Jack is too ill to work and spends 3 days a week on dialysis. His disability was just terminated, and he is currently living with no income. Jack is a working artist, so this situation is especially difficult, and he needs our help. Please donate what you can to help him make ends meet and regain his health and vitality. Monetary donations are needed and appreciated, and anyone who is willing or knows someone willing to donate a kidney would be considered an angel on Earth. Thank you for reading, caring, and donating. One Love.

Help Jack Tynan with Chronic Kidney Disease

<div>Hi, my name is Samantha Lamin-Green and I am fundraising for my Sister In-Law Lyndsey Vargas-Lamin. Lyndsey passed away unexpectedly in her sleep July 5th. I was asked by my brother Delano to setup this account due to an outpouring of people asking how can they help.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Lyndsey was a very caring, loving and thoughtful person. She was very vocal about her love for her husband and son, as she would call Delano #1 and Delano #2. She was hands down a GREAT mother, astronomical support to her son's future. Her son had a 5 year plan at just 5 years old. Lyndsey was there for all of Delano #2's milestones. Most recently, his 18th birthday and high school graduation. We are deeply saddened that she will not be there in the physical for more.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Let us not forget Lyndsey's humbleness. I kept in touch with Lyndsey pretty often and we had a good relationship. And though I do not use Twitter myself, I was shocked to see the following she has. I had no idea, she never mentioned it. She never mentioned she was doing all this good work, touching people's lives across the country. The outpouring of messages and condolences from friends has been overwhelming and appreciated. It says a lot about a person when people who have never met you, want to leave a message about how you impacted their lives.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Lyndsey left behind a community of followers to huddle around her family. Please keep sharing your messages. The family finds comfort in them and Delano #2 needs to know what a great force his mother was. For those who would like to do something please use this account to donate. There is no real goal it's set up for those who want to help. All proceeds will go to support Delano #2 on his new journey to college in September.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank You all for your support.
</div>
<div>Rest Peacefully Lyndsey.❤️
