<div>Hello! Lots of you may know me from Twitch, some of you may not. I'm Llama and I've been living with daily pain for nearly 12 years now. I've spent around £20,000 trying to diagnose and treat it over the years privately, and eventually the NHS told me there was nothing else they could do to help me.

<div>Last year I sought out physio in an attempt to help manage the pain, and my physio said that my symptoms matched another of her patients and it might be worth getting an MRI to check if I had the same issue. In July 2025 I got the results of my MRI and it turned out she was right! I have severe labral tears on both sides of my hips, and I'm a good candidate for surgeries to try to fix it. I'll need two separate surgeries, so I can heal up one side enough before the other is worked on.

<div>Since December of last year the pain has gone up a level and my quality of life is not great, day-to-day. The pain has meant I'm unable to work, rarely leave the house, and when I can sleep, I do. The NHS have been incredibly slow at even getting me in to discuss this so my best hope of getting out of pain has meant turning back to private care.

<div>All together, the cost of both surgeries is £28,390, and if I empty out my savings I was hoping to spend on getting my own home one day (c'est la vie...), I can put £10,000 towards it, so I'm coming to the community at large in hopes of raising a total of <strong>£﻿20,000 </strong>(<strong>£18,390 </strong>for both surgeries, and extra to cover GoFundMe transaction fees, travel, and any other unexpected costs during healing).

<div>To get me to the first surgery and on my way to recovering one side, the initial and quite urgent push is for <strong>£4,300. </strong>After this, there will be a large period of healing before the second operation - during this time I'm hoping we can then work towards raising the remaining <strong>£15,700. </strong>

<div>I know this is a large amount and will take some time but I'm hopeful we can get there eventually and I can finally be in less, or no, pain! It would be great to have a 'normal' life again where I can do fun things without having to worry about being in pain for days after, and I can get a job and move back out of my parents' house and be independent again. Life-changing surgery after 12 years daily pain!

<div>Just to get you up to speed about me, I’m a trans woman who’s been transitioning for the best part of 5 years now. I don’t want to bore you with a big speech about what an amazing journey it’s been so far but, yeah, it’s been incredible. Being able to look in the mirror and finally see yourself is a pretty indescribable feeling, and the widespread support I’ve received over the years has been truly heartwarming. I find myself now over 18 months on hormones, and almost all other aspects of my transition; social, legal etc complete. It’s amazing to have already come so far, but there’s one massive mountain left to climb and I know that I’m going to need help this time to overcome it.

<div>Getting to the point, I’m seeking your support to help me fund gender-affirming surgery which, by the time the surgery takes place, will effectively complete my transition (aside from the generally life-long commitment of continuing to take hormones). So far, I have funded my transition entirely by myself, but surgery is something that I have to be realistic about and accept that I’ll need help to fund it.

<div>At the time of writing, this surgery will run at an estimated total cost of just over £20K including consultation, the surgery itself, and the associated costs with the hospital stay. However, I believe it is only right that I try to cover as much of the cost myself as possible and, frankly, it simply feels unacceptable for me to even attempt to raise the full amount from the wonderful communities I've found myself in over the last few years, who’ve already massively supported me. So, I've set the funding goal for £10K, a little under half of the total surgery cost. Reaching this goal will ensure that the surgery, whilst still very expensive, is something I will be able to realistically budget for.

<div><strong>UPDATE 09/09/25 :</strong> In the months since the crowdfunder began I have been able to free up additional funds and also received some support from outside of GoFundMe. As such I have been able to bring the funding goal down to £5K. The GFM goal is now listed as £4850 to reflect all of this.

<div>This is still an extreme amount of money to be asking for. Believe me, I've spent several months debating if I even have the right to create a crowdfunder for myself when there are so many more pressing issues in the world that deserve your attention and support. However, a future where I am finally fully at home in my own body after so many years is something I just can’t deny myself the opportunity to try for.

<div>My current job contract ends in early Spring next year, though I am quite hopeful of a contract renewal. Soon after this, in the event of the crowdfunder being successful, I will begin arranging the surgery consultation, with the surgery itself hopefully happening somewhere in the 2nd half of 2026. This will be dictated by the surgeon's availability. Given the large funding goal, I have decided to start the crowdfunder sooner rather than later in order to allow as much time as possible to raise funds.
