  1. *ESPAÑOL ABAJO* Miguel, a loving husband and father of two MCPS high schoolers, was unjustly abducted by ICE outside of his home on September 10. Miguel was the main breadwinner for his family, and his detention in a Virginia ICE facility has left his family concerned for his safety and their financial well-being. As Miguel and his wife Gloria have supported their communities, we ask that you please support Miguel’s family to pay for basic living and legal costs. With your help, Miguel’s wife and children can stay rooted in the US to complete high school, continue working, and continue supporting their community.

  3. On Sunday, September 7th, Luis was unexpectedly detained outside a local bakery, Casa Blanca. According to his employer, he had parked a couple of spots away from the bakery and went inside briefly to grab a coffee. When he returned to his car, agents who had been waiting nearby approached him. While it is unclear what was said, Luis was taken into custody immediately. Bystanders have claimed to see the agents park right next to Luis' car and deliberately waited for him to come out. Luis is a hardworking man who has always shown dedication to his job and to those around him. He is also a loving father to two daughters — a 1-year-old and a 10-year-old — who need him home. This sudden detention has left his family and community deeply worried, and they now face financial and emotional hardship. We are raising funds to help cover legal fees, support his family during this difficult time, and ensure that Luis has the resources he needs to fight his case. Any contribution big or small will make a real difference. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this campaign to help us spread the word. Thank you for standing with Luis and his loved ones during this challenging times.

  4. Undocumented MCPS Student Balancing Work, Family, and Education A local Montgomery County student, who is working full-time, is determined to earn the remaining credits needed for graduation. With significant family challenges, including a mother who has difficulty accessing necessary medical care due to a lack of insurance and mounting medical bills, this student had to drop out of school earlier this year to provide financial support for the household. Currently, he is enrolled in online classes and is hopeful to graduate and walk the stage in June with his classmates. However, ongoing challenges regarding his mother’s health have resulted in overdue rent, putting the family's housing at risk! Please help to reach the goal of raising $6,500 to support this family and assist the student in achieving his graduation dreams!

  5. *ESPAÑOL ABAJO* Family in Crisis: Husband Detained, Wife Struggling to Hold Family Together On April 30, 2025, a husband and father was detained by ICE during a scheduled immigration check-in in Baltimore despite being accompanied by his wife and legal counsel, and presenting documentation of his legal status. He was held for five days in Baltimore before being transferred over 1,500 miles away to the Karnes County Residential Center in Texas. Despite an immigration judge already granting his case, declaring that he was legally allowed to remain in the United States without fear of deportation, he is currently fighting so that he is not deported to Mexico, a country he is not from, as he is originally from El Salvador. Since his detention, the family has faced extreme hardship. His wife, now the sole caregiver and provider, is struggling to keep the household afloat while caring for their three dependents: • A non-verbal daughter with severe autism, who has missed multiple therapy and medical appointments due to the disruption and emotional toll of her father’s absence. • A 12-year-old son who is traumatized and afraid to leave the home, fearing that something bad may happen to the rest of his family. • An 18-year-old nephew who helps with childcare during the day but is also financially dependent on her. The husband has serious medical needs, including diabetes, high cholesterol, and chronic pain from a previous accident that required surgery. He has not had consistent access to his necessary medications since his detention. His wife has even taken personal risks to deliver his medications when he was briefly held in Baltimore. Now, with him in Texas and no clear end in sight, she is terrified for his health and safety—especially as he recently had a “prueba de miedo” (fear interview) without legal representation and may be moved again to a facility with even worse conditions. The emotional and financial burden on the family is overwhelming. They live in Silver Spring, Maryland, and have already spent over $15,000 on legal fees, commissary, phone calls, and basic necessities for survival. Despite all this, the wife continues to advocate for her husband’s release while managing intense caregiving responsibilities and mounting debt. This family urgently needs support.

  6. >>Español Abajo<< This morning, Thursday, July 10th, Manuel, a father of a 3-year-old and a 5-year-old was violently detained by plainclothes ICE agents in his own neighborhood. 7. MoCoIRC is collecting funds to support an MCPS student who was detained by ICE in May 2025. As of writing this, the student remains detained and their family's financial circumstances have worsened. Due to fear of exposing themselves to being abducted by ICE, they live in fear and limit leaving their home. The student currently has pro bono legal representation, but due to their inability and their family's fear to work at this time, they need all the help they can get. All funds will go directly to the student and their immediate family members to cover immediate housing and food needs. The student has hopes of pursuing a degree in Nursing when released and additional funds will support their higher education goals. The school case worker will ensure the student and their family receive these funds.
