Andy Amoroso, brother of Dawn, brother-in-law to Tracie, and husband of Ty, suffered a devastating stroke on Thursday night, July 16th, 2026, while alone in his Lake Worth Beach apartment. Unable to call for help for over 12 hours, Andy missed the critical "golden hour" for medical attention, which has left him with significant damage and limited movement on his left side. The hope is that with dedicated physical therapy, Andy can regain the use of his left side and work toward recovery.

 Andy is a beloved figure in Lake Worth Beach, known for his generosity, humor, and commitment to the community. Over the past 30 years, he has owned several businesses and served as City Commissioner (Vice-Mayor) for more than a decade. His current business, "The Tacky Tourist," is a staple on Lake Ave., reflecting Andy’s fun-loving and whimsical spirit. As a small business owner, Andy faces a unique challenge: if his store isn’t open, he isn’t earning income to cover his rent, mortgage, and bills. This makes his recovery even more difficult, as he needs support to manage his living expenses while focusing on healing.

<div>My name is Rory Allen and I happened to be driving behind Shukuru Mlondani last Friday when his 2013 Honda Pilot suddenly caught fire. It appeared to start because of something near his driver side headlight had faulty wirting. As I went to check to make sure Mr Mlondani was ok it was clear to me that this was tragic for he and his Family. He was laying on the ground in the pouring rain, sobbing as this was his family's only vehicle burned in front of him and there was nothing he could do about it. Shukuru was helpless so I drove him to retrieve his phone from the Literacy Center (which is why he was making the trip in the first place) and proceed to grab his belongings from his vehicle and return him home. The Mlondani family are refugees from Tanzania. The three brothers work at a factory in Orchard Park. I shared this story on Facebook and local business owner John Bair immediately stepped up and helped them with a significant donation to rent a car in the short term. Others have asked how they can help Shukuru and his family replace their car as it was not covered under their general liability coverage. So here I am looking to raise money for them to replace their car. Thank you Buffalo for supporting this family in a time of need.

<div>Vickie Virzi, the President of Blessed Paws Animal Rescue in Lake Worth, FL, was in a hit-and-run rollover accident last night at 10:45 pm on i95. She was driving home in the hurricane from being at the Emergency Vet Hospital where our 3 month old puppy urgently needed to be seen due to neurological activity. Vickie was hit by a driver that left her flipped and rolled over in the car. The driver who hit Vickie ran off, the police found the vehicle, but the driver was nowhere to be found.

<div>Thankfully, people stopped to get Vickie out of the car.

<div>If you have met Vickie, you know her mission is to save as many dogs as possible by providing them with top-tier resources, medical care, and love. She works a full-time job besides doing rescue, and all of her “free” time is dedicated to the dogs. Vickie partners with other animal rescue(s) and helps the homeless projects by providing food, beds, towels, clothes, etc. She is always there to help anyone in need, with a pure heart of gold.

<div>On July 6, 2022 Alexis was diagnosed with stage 2 HER2-positive breast cancer after finding a lump in her right breast. It's an aggressive form of cancer, but there are two major positives to focus on: First, Alexis caught this on the early side and moved very quickly. Second, this type of cancer is very responsive to medical treatment. Alexis will have to go through 18 weeks of chemo, followed by surgery and then more treatment. This will be a long journey, emotionally, physically and financially.

Craig Ashley's Stroke Recovery Journey

<p>A member of our Bak family needs our help! Our secretary, Tammy King , unexpectedly lost her husband Charles last month. <br />Tammy is a private person and has been enduring this loss alone. It’s not in Tammy’s character to ask for help, so I am doing it for her. My goal is to help ease some of her stress from the financial burden they are enduring from the passing of her husband.

<p>Tammy has always been such a selfless, giving person and always welcomes our students and their families with a smile at the front desk.<br /> Her husband Charles was a Manager for Walgreens in West Palm Beach for 20 yrs and a Marine for 8 yrs. He carried the Health Insurance for the family, including their daughter who is 7 months pregnant and due in October with her first child. Unfortunately, Walgreens notified the family that all of their health coverage ended July31st.
