For the past 3 years a growing number of athletes and spectators have been meeting up at CrossFit 904 for a weekend in late September and we’ve been doing dumb things for a good cause. We raise money for a charity called Recovery RX, that helps a lot of us addicts and alcoholics, more and more every year, by doing what’s called The Jax 4x4x48. Created by former Navy Seal and all-around inspiring dude named David Goggins, it’s an endurance run that tests the mind, body and soul. It consists of a 4-mile run (or ruck) every 4 hours for 48 hours. We start Friday evening and the last run is Sunday afternoon. A lot of us bring tents and camp out in the parking lot of CrossFit 904. It’s a blast of a weekend. During the day the gym has workouts and challenges for the non-runners that want to play along. We’ll have food vendors and a potluck style buffet that makes Golden Corral jealous. It’s an amazing event that has big huge positive energy all weekend and we’re very proud of what it has become. So, we’re going to try and raise as much as we can between now and then to help Recovery RX help more people, like they’ve helped me. There have been a few times in my fight against addiction that I needed help from somewhere and I needed it quickly. Every time I called, Recovery RX answered. They have been there to support me in so many ways, and so many times, that I want to do what I can to pay it forward and let the world know how great they are at the same time. Heres there website: https://www.myscarsaremyarmor.org. Please check them out. They’re doing a lot of great things with a lot of opportunities to get involved. Our communities and their struggles are ours to take care of. Addiction is a fight that’s fought from the inside out. We save each other one at a time and then it spreads. And that is why charities like Recovery RX are so important to this fight. They are the hand that is always there when people fighting their addiction are finally brave enough to reach out for help. And we as citizens of this community can help win that fight by helping them keep that hand ready, and strong. We have raised close to $15,000 dollars over the past 3 years from this event alone, and we’d like to keep that rolling. We appreciate any donation big or small. It all goes a very long way to help us in this battle. Thank you for your time and love. LFG
