Rebuild Lives & Hope in Retirement Bluefields & Cave Hill, Westmoreland-Jamaica Jamaica was recently devastated by Hurricane Melissa, leaving behind unimaginable destruction across the island — especially in Westmoreland and the surrounding communities of Retirement, Bluefields, and Cave Hill. Many of my dear friends and neighbors have lost everything — their homes, belongings, and in some cases, their only source of income. Most are now without electricity, clean water, or food, and supplies are running dangerously low. These communities are filled with hardworking, kindhearted people — many in the tourism, hotel, and taxi/driver sectors — who are now out of work due to the South Coast shutdown. Others are elderly, unable to work, and rely on the strength and generosity of their neighbors even on a normal day. Despite all the loss, their spirit remains strong. They are trying to rebuild their homes and their hope for a better tomorrow — for themselves, their families, and for Jamaica.
