Standing with Larry’s Family in Tough Times

<div>For most of my life, I was the one others leaned on. Today, I am struggling to stay on my feet so I can keep caring for my children.

<div>My name is Erin Goodwin. I am a mother of two, including an adult son on the autism spectrum who still depends on me for daily support, stability, and advocacy. I have spent my life caring for others—raising my children, caring for both of my parents through hospice (one with Alzheimer’s and the other with heart failure), and later supporting a sibling through cancer. Those years took a toll on my marriage, and after 25 years, it ended. Despite everything, my focus has always remained on my children.

<div>Over the past decade, my health has significantly declined. I have undergone multiple major surgeries involving my spine, neck, shoulders, and joints, and most recently a total hip replacement that caused permanent nerve damage. At 53, my body often feels decades older. I live with degenerative disc disease, degenerative joint disease, chronic pain, and limited mobility. Additional procedures are still ahead, and doctors have now discovered tumors in my thyroid and adrenal glands.

<div>Until three years ago, I was still working. When further surgeries became unavoidable, my employer of over six years let me go. I have been fighting for Social Security Disability with an attorney, but the process has been long and exhausting. I also paid into long-term disability insurance, which helped keep my family afloat—until the insurer changed its qualifications. This December before Christmas, I was notified that my benefits were being terminated. My medical condition has not improved. I am still disabled, but my income is gone.

<div>Daily life has become increasingly difficult. Walking, bending, and even breathing can be a struggle. I rarely leave my home because I physically cannot manage stores or errands. I rely on deliveries and ongoing pain management just to function. The life I once had—being active, riding my bike, spending time outdoors—feels impossibly far away.

<div><strong>I have sold nearly everything I could and exhausted my savings just to survive. I am now at a critical point.</strong> Funds raised will help prevent us from losing our housing, keep my vehicle so we can attend medical appointments, and cover essential medical-related expenses not fully covered by insurance—especially travel to specialists who are two to four hours away.

<div>I remain the primary caregiver for my son on the autism spectrum. In many ways, we care for each other, but he relies on me for stability and safety. One of my greatest fears is what happens to him if I am unable to remain housed, healthy, and present.

<div>Meet Attalie Brooklyn-Marie Meza: A girl with a rare genetic condition who has left her mark on everyone she meets. Our rainbow girl. She is 3 years old.

<div>In July of 2025, Attalie was diagnosed with a rare genetic mutation and deletion affecting her CACNA1B gene. This means that both copies of this gene that she inherited are damaged copies, and this has reframed her DNA sequencing. This results in non-stop absent seizure activity and multiple epileptic seizures a day. Her seizures have caused irreparable brain damage and severe regression of motor skills. The variant of this gene mutation that Attalie was diagnosed with has never been studied, and there were only 6 cases in the world that could be compared to hers. Similar, but not the same. Attalie is terminally ill, and she is rapidly declining. Her condition has weakened her muscles, and she cannot walk, talk, or move herself. She has never walked, never crawled, and never been able to feed herself. It took us two years of fighting to get her a diagnosis, and it took dozens of doctors, tests, and scans to even get us an answer. An answer with no data, no clinical trials, no hope.

<div>As of this week, Attalie has been placed on hospice care, and she is quickly starting to refuse most interventions that are helping keep her respiratory at a stable baseline.

<div><strong>We need to start preparing her funeral arrangements and choosing who will handle the services, but local grants only cover so much. This is where I ask for help from my community.</strong>

<div>My name is Alyssa - I am Attalie's mother, and I am asking for help. I am the only source of income that supports Attalie, her four siblings in the home, and the household. Even though I have worked tirelessly to build a career and a stable life, this is something I never could have been prepared for. Most of Attalie's life, I have worked 60-100 hour work weeks to support my family. I don't qualify for any government assistance outside of Medicaid, but that has been her secondary insurance, and my portion of her bills from the last year are over $3k and collecting interest quickly. I work hard, but in this economy, we live paycheck to paycheck, and I am desperate to spend my last days with my baby girl. In April, my mother was also diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer, and this last weekend, we all said our goodbyes to my grandmother as she spends her last days in heart failure. I haven't been able to spend time with any of my family during this time because I have to stay focused on supporting my own household. The genetic testing that diagnosed Attalie, also gave me a diagnosis. I have Lynch Syndrome and all 81 genes that can carry positive cancer markers were tested. All 81 genes lit up positive for cancer markers, now I need more genetic testing as well as genetic counseling for cancer specifically.

<div><strong>We don't get to give her a wedding, buy her a prom dress, or watch her go into college. However, we can give her a funeral that is worthy of her. All I want is to make memories with her, spend time with my family, and have the time to grieve her loss.</strong>

<div>Attalie has 6 siblings - 4 of which live in the home with her full-time. They are going to need a lot of care, attention, therapies, and joy to help them navigate losing not only their sister but their great-grandmother as well. Her siblings are 16, 13, 11, 10, 8, and 1. For the next 5 months, every child has a birthday, and as you can imagine, that only amplifies the heaviness of our situation. Attalie is our rainbow baby after secondary infertility and 6 miscarriages - by all accounts, she has been our miracle. To have to plan the end of her life 3 years later is daunting when I have spent her whole life working to support her, our family, and to learn new ways we could adapt our life to her needs. Her father, Adam, has dedicated his entire life and career to caring for her and being her caregiver so that I could work. It is going to take so much healing to help us get through this.

On Nov 13, 2022, her, her boyfriend Ethan Chapin, roommates Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves were brutally taken from family and friends.

<div>There was no trial, but she still has a long road ahead of her and will never be ok. I know because I lost my son a year ago and I just get by. She has done what a lot of people couldn't.  She has cleaned her life up and needs a new start.  She deserves it more than anyone I know! Xana was a college student who loved her boyfriend, her sister Jazzmin, her little brother Elijah, her mom, and dad. Just a young woman who was well on her way to being a successful woman with a smile that would light the world!

My mother has always been the picture of strength and resilience to anyone that knows her. She has overcome and fought every battle in her life alone, but this is a time when she needs some help from her community. Trinity is only 45 years old and she is a local business owner in the Treasure Valley. She has built her business from the ground up by supporting and healing people from the community. Recently, she has been going through some major health struggles, and that has caused fears of financial strain. Last week, she had to go for a biopsy and today we found out she has Cancer. As a small business owner, she does not have medical insurance, and bills have already started racking up.

Help Shianne Beat Cancer!

<div>We are asking for support and prayers for Dystinee Miller. Yesterday she was in a horrible car accident. Dystinee was stopped on State Highway 44 to turn onto Eel Lane. She was struck from behind by a car going 55mph. This caused her to be pushed into the oncoming traffic lane and was then struck head on. Dystinee is still in the ER awaiting MRI results to determine if she needs surgery on her very broken back. She will need surgery on her leg and possibly ankle.

Please HELP with Dystinee Miller’s Medical Bills

On 2/11/18, our world was shattered by the sudden death of my husband of 18 years. We have 7 children, and the last one is 12 and autistic and having a very difficult time with the transition. My husband was a 28 year Veteran, serving from 1/13/1981 through 9/30/2008. He truly believed in his country and fellow man and will be missed by more people than he could ever imagine. Al touched so many lives, and was an excellent parent and husband. Our family is devasted and we were not finacially prepared for his to leave this young. The financial burden of the funeral and expenses are way above anything we would be able to afford. Any assistance that you could provide would be greatly appreciated. <p dir="ltr">I hate this. &#160;If I thought there was another way I'd do it. &#160;We are going on our 8th year Fighting this brain tumor. &#160;It has been exhausting...mentally...physically and financially. &#160;I thank God everyday that we have had people along the way who have cared and helped. &#160;Last January, AJ had a major resection... the neurosurgeon was able to take quite a bit out. &#160;The tumor was then tested for the BRAF gene...which is present in his tumor. There are specific &#160;clinical trials to attack that gene which has a huge part in the tumors activity and growth. &#160;The closest trials are at UCSF. Our oncologist gave us 4 options as the tumor is once again growing into areas where something needs to be done. &#160;One of those options is being a part of a clinical study at UCSF. &#160;Financially i cannot do this on my own...it will require a lot of travel...time without pay, while still trying to maintain our household in Idaho. &#160;I have had a few people approach me regarding a fundraiser and we are going to go to UCSF if we can raise the money. &#160;We had to do something right now though so we are starting oral chemo today and heading to Boise every other week. &#160;We will be doing tjis for 2-3 months and take a scan to see if its helping. &#160;After the scan will be brain tumor clinic and if enough money has been raised we will head to San Francisco. &#160; &#160; &#160;Please...if you can donate. ..even if its only $5, $10, $20 .... it will mean so much to us...n if you can't ....please consider prayers or sharing our page to help my son feel loved n supported. &#160; Cancer is rough...especially going on your 8th year. &#160;It is so very hard to watch a teen suffer from hopelessness n helplessness. &#160;It is especially hard and frustrating &#160;to know there may be a better way to fight this monster than the way we have had to settle for at this time. &#160;Thank you so very much for caring n sharing!

AJS 2015-17 cancer medical fund

aj azevedo...was diagnosed with a mixed glioma inoperable brain tumor in october 2007 which stemmed from a standard lion club screening at the elementary school he was attending. it is on the brain stem, cerebellar area n where the 3rd ventricle drains into the fourth. he had two brain surgeries that first month...a ventriculostomy and a week later stereotactic surgery which after 8 hours they were unable to remove hardly any of it. he had a port a cath put in and we did almost a year and a half of chemo...his port was picky so he had to lay with his arm extended for 8 hours each day he got the drugs. radiation was our light at the end of the tunnel...or so we believed. this last year after radiation has proven to be a disappointment. with the last mri we learned there is no longer one cyst but 5 and the enhancement is growing, the mass is growing...the monster inside my childs head is showing no mercy. he will now be undergoing another brain surgery and more chemo afterward. i never thought i would find myself in this position. i am a hard worker...i am thankful that i have a job...and even though i only have part time benefits because of my own health issues (back surgery and rehabilitation)...i am thankful that i do not carry the full burden of his medical bills, and insurance will pick up some of it. missing work, keeping our vehicle is running condition, a week in the hospital after surgery, and driving back and forth between boise and twin falls once a week for a year, will take a huge chunk...not to mention the medical bills in its wake. so i am reaching out to u.... please help me to be able to relax a little and put all my worry where it needs to be....with my child. i will keep this site updated in his progress and post pics along the way. thank you for taking the time to learn about my son, and considering making a donation. the money will go to medical bills and travel. if you would rather send a gas card or other donation....please mail directly to aj azevedo, po box 5234, twin falls, idaho, 83303. god bless and thank you!<img class="not-resizeable" src="http://fe391d5e875395beaa5c-4d0fcf8d315d40f305ee2ebb6c32f79c.r96.cf1.rackcdn.com/215637_desc_1386231815.9698.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><img class="not-resizeable" src="http://fe391d5e875395beaa5c-4d0fcf8d315d40f305ee2ebb6c32f79c.r96.cf1.rackcdn.com/215637_desc_1386231897.5762.jpg" alt="" width="100%" />
