<div>On February 12th, 2025, my sweet baby boy Oliver passed away from cancer. It all happened so fast and despite being such a little dog, the void he left behind has been unbearable.

<div>But he also left behind so much love. I'm so lucky that I actually met my soul dog in my life time. He was by my side for 13 years through some of my best and worst moments. We accomplished so much together and I always had his smiling little face as my support.

<div>He was bred to be a showdog before he was given away due to being too big for Pomeranian showdog standards. Standard is like 7 lbs and he was 13 lbs lol. I adopted him at 10 months old and little did he know how much more famous he'd become than if he actually were a showdog. The love my Twitch community had for him warmed my heart every day. The jokes, the fan art, the curiosity for his well being... I know you all loved him, too.

<div>I want to honor his memory by raising funds that I will split three ways to three of the best local animal shelters in my area. I will be submitting under his name with his picture.

<div>Thank you all for the overwhelming support of Pete and his family.  I have increased the goal because of some recent changes.  Pete is planning on heading to the three-week treatment facility on Friday, July 25th. However, the facility informed him last week that because he  is considered a fall risk, he must have someone stay with him for the duration of his treatment.  Unfortunately, this increases the cost of the treatment facility by around $6000.

<div>I’m reaching out today with a heavy heart to share the story of our brother, <strong>Pete Malizia (‘90)</strong>, who is bravely battling a devastating disease — Multiple System Atrophy (MSA).

<div>MSA is a rare, aggressive neurological disorder that affects the body’s autonomic functions — things like blood pressure, movement, and balance. There is no cure, and unfortunately, traditional medications are no longer as helpful to Pete as they were. The disease is progressing quickly.

<div>Pete, his wife Morgan, and their 13-year-old daughter are now turning to holistic and integrative treatments that offer hope and relief — but these therapies come at a significant cost and are not covered by insurance.

Help a Brother in Need

<div>On May 10th, 2025, Paige received a call no mother should have to. <strong>Averix had been involved in a lawn mower accident.</strong> She didn't know the extent of his injuries, just rallied quickly to get where she needed to be. The first call came in that they were taking him by ambulance to the hospital, then the second call came through that they were life-flighting him. They were able to land the medflight behind our local Kroger's; that's where the ball started rolling and FAST. He was then taken to Nationwide Hospital. The first 12 hours were all about making sure he was able to keep his left foot. His first surgery was bedside, in the trauma bay, as they draped it into an OR. Scary, right?

<div>On May 12th, 2025, he was taken for his second surgery.

<div>On May 14th, 2025, he was released because there was actually nothing more they could do with him until they all put their heads together and came up with a plan.
</div>

<div>Well, his injury turned out to be way worse than the first look. They sent us home with a wheelchair, wound vac, and that is now our 24-hour around-the-clock care he requires. We are looking at close to over a year-long road, not to mention physical therapy. They are also scratching their heads about why his foot is growing back the way it is. So once the cosmetic part is taken care of, who knows what surgeries he will have to keep his leg working as it once did. Paige has been by his side through it all, day in and day out, not being able to work. Now, here we are doing weekly surgical procedures, right? I know what most might say: it's just a wound vac change. WRONG. He gets an internal bandage placed over just the bone that is exposed to keep it good and strong, so it's not rotting. He has about 20 staples removed and put back in every week. As of June 18th, he has had 8 surgeries! 8 breathing tubes, 8 recoveries in not even a month's time. While his amazing plastic surgery team keeps his wound clean, it looks worse and worse. Right now, he has absolutely no heel. The bone is completely exposed. They are looking at a timeline of mid-July to early August for the beginning stages of reconstruction. He will need multiple surgeries, skin grafts, and a tissue transplant. After all this is said and done, the doctor is confident he will have a 75% (yes, the odds keep dropping) normal gait, but will have to wear an orthotic in his shoe forever, and will need this surgery and graft replaced every 6 years due to it wearing down. She has seen multiple injuries like this, just not as bad. He has completely severed his Achilles tendon, ruptured and exposed plantar fascia, and completely exposed calcaneus (heel bone) and subtalar joint. So better imagine his foot looks like the palm of a hand with no arch.

<div>He is currently dealing with something called mirror syndrome like an amputee and cries in pain all night long, all while mirroring his injury on his good limb. As of June 13th, 2025, we have the pain team finally on board. I also know what my grandson deserves, and that's an army that's behind him. I know he is strong and will fight the greater fight, but Paige needs to be there with him, and she can't be without a little help, while also worrying about her other two children.

Help Averix Heal After Severe Injury

He was evaluated at children’s hospital by a specialist, who said Theodore needs one. His head is flat on the left side. Insurance looks at helmets like they’re cosmetic even though it could effect his hearing and eyesight when he’s older. Cody and I are not ones to ask for donations but this is very time sensitive and we fear by the time we save up it may be to late to help reshape his head. He has about 6 months before it really won’t help him anymore and doctors normally will not prescribe a helmet.  This is our only shot at really helping his head form correctly to where it will not cause damage. Theodores left ear is farther forward on the left side and it’s lower than the right side.  Any donation will help tremendously. We appreciate all of your love, support, and help through this time of need.

<div>Remove widened scars from leaking fluid out of my thighs, remove leftover skin that was used as flaps to secure my other tissues in place, and remove leftover surgery mishaps/unforeseen circumstances that caused excess skin to drape over my knees. I now have what looks like a mass above both of my knees. Fix the one arm that healed abnormally compared to the other. Fix my upper torso that now has what looks like two extra breasts under my breasts due to skin/tissue elasticity. The extra bulk of stretched skin on one side due to bleeding in my torso for 10 hours. (Emergency room and emergency surgery.) This caused stretching of the skin on my right side and it is lopsided because of healing and having to allow for swelling. During that time I was unable to wear a binder. I also have many wide scars due to all this that are WEAK and indented in some areas and require repair. (Basically bringing the skin closer together.) A lot of them hurt if touched or pushed on.

<div>In 2013 I weighed 635 lbs. I started keto and I was losing weight. Throughout the journey, I was able to finally lose weight with little to no issue.
