My son, Micah Richards Jr (Sonny), is graduating from high school this year with a 4.0 GPA, and we are so proud of everything he has accomplished. Since most of our family can't attend his graduation in person, we're sharing his announcement on Facebook and our family reunion page so everyone can celebrate with us, no matter where they are. This milestone is a big moment for Sonny, and we want to make sure he feels the love and support from our family and friends, even from afar. Sonny has been accepted to start at Arizona State University in the fall of 2026, where he will be studying computer art and design. He has applied for several scholarships, but it's still a little early to know if he'll receive any. In the meantime, he is planning to work through the summer to save money for college. Any funds raised will go directly toward his living expenses while he attends school, helping him focus on his studies and make the most of this new chapter. Cybersecurity is one of the most important fields today, protecting individuals and organizations from constantly evolving digital threats. In 2025, billions of dollars were lost to cybercrime. These attackers often target the most vulnerable Americans—our elderly and small mom-and-pop businesses. At the same time, foreign governments and organized groups continuously attempt to attack our nation’s elections, critical infrastructure, and even the systems used by the military that protects our freedoms. I’ve been studying extensively, completing hands-on labs, training programs, and security exercises to build the skills needed to become a professional penetration tester. Breaking into this field requires specialized training, certification exams, and equipment that can be expensive during a career transition. This fundraiser will help cover those essential costs, including cybersecurity training platforms, certification fees, and the tools needed to continue developing my skills. My goal is simple: complete my training, earn my certifications, and build a stable future while helping protect organizations from cyber threats.
