Melissa's dad has always been the rock of their family—a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandpa, and a friend to so many. As the sole provider, he worked tirelessly as a semi driver to support everyone he loves. Just recently, everything changed when he was in an accident that left him with dizzy spells, numbness in his upper body, and shortness of breath. It quickly became unsafe for him to keep driving, and a visit to the ER revealed not only a couple of herniated discs in his neck, but something far more serious: cancer. The news was devastating. Melissa and her family immediately began scheduling appointments for further testing, only to be met with overwhelming copays and insurance costs. With no income coming in and bills piling up, her dad has had to sell everything he could—including his beloved semi—just to try to make ends meet. Now, with nothing left to sell and more appointments like biopsies and ultrasounds ahead, the stress and worry have become almost too much to bear. Melissa’s dad, always the first to help others and never one to ask for anything in return, now finds himself in need of support. He’s a proud man who believes that good deeds are always repaid, but as Melissa remembers him saying, 'God helps those who help themselves.' Melissa is reaching out to the community for prayers and any support possible. Every donation, no matter how small, will help cover medical expenses, copays, and basic living costs while her dad focuses on fighting cancer and healing.
