<div><strong>Hi, I'm Alder</strong>. I am an artist and student living and working in Portland, Oregon.

<div><strong>In September of last year, my wonderful, beautiful partner Lapis passed away after a six-year fight against glioblastoma.</strong> I travelled from Oregon to the Bay Area to be by her side and assist with her care during her roughly three months in hospice. This was a physically, emotionally, and financially draining experience from which I am still recovering almost a year later.

<div>After giving our family and friends time to rest and recuperate from grief and stress,<strong> a celebration of life event is being planned for mid-September of this year</strong>. As a full-time student and artist, my income is low- I need help making the trip back to the Bay and organizing my part of the event itself.

<div><strong>I am asking for $2500 to cover the costs of travel and preparation. </strong>While its difficult to provide an exact breakdown, this money will be broken down into the following:

</p>

<p>I’m sorry to share this unexpected update here, but Josh has just been urgently admitted to the hospital with failing kidneys, debilitating liver disease and is currently in a coma.  
</p>

<p>As you can imagine, this is an extremely stressful time. Josh and Jesslyn lost their jobs last year, due to the covid crisis and with Jesslyn obviously overwhelmed by all of this, I am hoping this financial support for medical expenses and cost of living, will be one less thing to worry about.  
</p>

<p>It is so very much appreciated that you send your healing energy his way. We are staying positive that he will fight this and pull through!<span style="font-size:1.0625rem;">Think of a good time you spent together!! He can feel it and hear you!!</span>

Josh & Jesslyn Emergency Support. Time To RALLY

The Wildrose Bar has been a part of Capitol Hill’s community for decades. We are also the oldest Lesbian Bar on the West Coast, and one of the only ones left in the country.  We employ DJ’s, Bar Staff, Security, etc.  We’ve prided ourselves on being a community gathering space and have taken great pride in supporting the LGBTQ community in all kinds of ways, big and small, since our inception.  As Owners, we have put everything we have into the business, but it won't be enough. <br /><br />The last thing we want to do right now is ask of folks, when so many are struggling, but we’ve been left with virtually no choice. The rent, insurance, and other costs continue to accumulate, while revenue does not. The potential that we may not be able to serve our community is devastating to us.  Our hope is that if you cannot contribute, perhaps you can share this far and wide.  There is nothing more that we would love than to welcome our staff and the community back when we get through this, together.
