<div>
 My name is Leticia, and Karina is one of my dearest friends. When I called her on her birthday, I was met with devastating news.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 On September 23, Karina and her mother-in-law, Simone, were crossing the street with Karina’s 10-month-old son, Lucas, when they were hit by an impaired driver. In those terrifying final moments, Karina and Simone did the only thing that mattered: they pushed Lucas’s stroller out of the car’s path. Lucas was unharmed. Karina and Simone were not.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Simone is now in the ICU in a minimally conscious state, with a traumatic brain injury, fractures to her spine and pelvis, and multiple other serious injuries. She protected her grandson with everything she had.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Karina is a speech-language pathologist who has dedicated her life to helping children and their families. She is now facing fractures to her pelvis, knee, foot and teeth, as well as injuries throughout her body. She is beginning a long and difficult journey towards walking again. For now, she cannot work or care for Lucas as she normally would.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Luiz is carrying the weight of the family, dividing his time between the hospital and caring for his son and Karina.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 After years of hope and prayers, Lucas was the miracle Karina and her husband, Luiz, had long dreamed of. Simone had travelled from Brazil to the United States to help care for her grandson and spend precious time with her family. Because Simone was visiting from Brazil, she has only limited travel insurance. It will cover only a small part of the intensive care and long-term treatment she needs in the United States, leaving the family with costs far beyond what they can manage alone.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Funds raised will help support:
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<ul>
 <li>Simone’s medical treatment and future recovery needs</li>
 <li>Karina’s treatment, rehabilitation and ongoing care</li>
 <li>Karina's dental treatment</li>
 <li>Overall medical supplies</li>
 <li>Lost income while Karina is unable to work</li>
 <li>Care for Lucas while Luiz supports Karina and Simone</li>
 <li>Travel for family members from Brazil who can help during their recovery</li>
 <li>Simone’s essential bills and living expenses in Brazil while she is unable to return home or work</li>
</ul>
<div>
 All funds will go directly to Karina and Luiz, who will manage everything.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Karina has never asked for help in this way, so I am asking for her. I cannot be there beside my best friend through every moment of this, but this is something I can do for her and her family.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Karina knows my deepest secrets and my biggest dreams. She is my dearest friend, and I want more than anything to see her through this. If you have ever met her, you will know that she is one of the kindest, most loving people you could ever meet.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Any contribution, no matter the amount, will mean more than words can express. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this page. Your support, prayers and kindness will help carry this family through an unimaginably difficult time.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 I will share updates whenever possible. We are profoundly grateful that Lucas was spared, and we continue to hope and pray for Karina’s healing and Simone’s recovery.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Thank you for standing with Karina, Simone, Lucas and Luiz.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 With love and gratitude,

Help Karina & Simone recover after a devastating accident

<div>Vermonter Steven Tendo – Ugandan pastor, union member, torture survivor and asylum seeker – was detained by ICE outside work the morning of February 4th, days before a scheduled ICE appointment. He is currently in detention in New Hampshire and his lawyers are actively working to bring him back home.

<div>As some of you my know, my dad, Jamie, was in a major car accident recently. I am asking for anyone's help to try to get him a new car and get him back on his feet again. His car is his lifeline as he has multiple doctors appointments every week for multiple different conditions. Any help is greatly appreciated and will go directly to him for helping to get him a new car, and transport to and from appointments in the meantime. Thank you all in advance!

<div>Go Fund Me: Amy and Julie

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>The Honeoye class of 2003 has created this GoFundMe on behalf of our classmate, Amy Friduss, and her mother, Julie Lindsay, who are the two lone survivors of the tragic boating accident on Lake Tahoe over the weekend. Physically, both mother and daughter are on the mend, but are dealing with the heartbreaking loss of their beloved husband and father, best friends and dear family who perished. This fund is being set up so they can focus on dealing with these unimaginable circumstances instead of worrying about money. These funds will support their living expenses while recovering, medical bills, funeral costs, and any transportation expenses accrued during this time.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Steve “Zippy” Lindsay, Julie’s beloved husband, Amy's favorite dad, and the unofficial mayor of Honeoye, was quick with a big smile, a hug and a joke for everyone and will be missed beyond measure for his huge heart and quick wit. Julie recently retired from L3 Harris and was planning on spending her years with her husband, best friends from childhood Theresa Giullari and Jim Guck, and her siblings and family in California, and now has to navigate this new unknown alone. Now, it’s just Amy and her mom left to face the unthinkable — broken hearts, unanswered questions, and the difficulty of life with only memories to hold onto.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Those of us who know Amy or Julie know they are always the first to step up for others. Amy is a loving and devoted nurse practitioner who, in her spare time, treats people living in homeless encampments, making sure they have medical supplies that are necessary for survival. She is the most giving person anyone could know. Julie would do anything for anyone, and would quite literally give the shirt off her back if someone needed it. Her bright and shining personality could light up a room.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Let’s come together as a community, as one town unit just as we always have, and show Amy and Julie that they are not alone. Whether it’s a kind word, a message, or a small donation to the GoFundMe, let’s do everything we can to set them up for healing and living in this new normal. Every gesture counts. Every bit of love and support matters.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Hold your loved ones tight. Be kind. Embrace every moment of this beautiful, fragile life.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Note: There are several families affected by this tragedy, and Julie and Amy ask that a contribution to Jim and Theresa’s family be considered given the horrendous nature of this tragedy. We pray for the healing of everyone who is dealing with loss during this time. There may be other funds set up for the other families involved, but this one will just benefit Julie and Amy.

Amy and Julie: Healing After Heartbreak

<div>Hello, my name is Natalia. For those who don't know me, I am the daughter of Jamie Simon. This fundraiser would help cover medical bills and any additional expenses that may arise during this time of need.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>For those who have not had the honor to get to know my mom, let me introduce her to you. My mom Jamie is a single parent to myself and my sister. She is a strong and compassionate human being who wants nothing than the best for her people. For the last few months, my mom has been struggling with what we thought was bronchitis and laryngitis that turned into pneumonia. On April 18th, mom went to Thompson ED to get some scans done. As they did this, they uncovered a mass. On May 1st, our family was rocked with the reality that this mass was cancerous, and mom received a diagnosis of stage 3 uterine cancer that has metastasized to her lungs. Mom has since started chemo and is currently in the ICU. We have a long road ahead of us, but I know that she can beat this! She has kicked cancer's butt once and she will do it again!

</div>

<div>Any contribution, no matter how small, will help us support her through this difficult time. Thank you for the support. Please keep my mother in your thoughts and send positive vibes and prayers our way!

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>We ask at this time if you would like to say anything nice to please send it to me and I would be happy to pass it along to my mom. We don’t want her overwhelmed by the incoming messages at this time so she can focus on resting and healing!

</div>

<div><span style="color:inherit;font-family:inherit;font-size:1rem;">Our family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support we have received from the community. </span>
</div>
<div>On February 13th the course of our lives changed for the worse. Sam may not be with us physically, but we know his memory is still very much alive and his story isn’t over.
</div>
<div>We want to thank everyone who has generosity donated to our GoFundMe, which will allow our family to be his voice; we will never stop fighting until Sam has the justice he deserves. GoFundMe donations will go along way for travel fees (as Sam and his family are from Minnesota but criminal trials are taking place in New York), lawyer fees, as well as loss of wages our family is experiencing. Again, your support has meant so much, and if anyone is interesting in keeping up with Sam’s journey, please follow us on Facebook under JUSTICE FOR SAM NORDQUIST.

<div>Xavier’s life was turned upside down when the Eaton Fire swept through his neighborhood. In the blink of an eye, he lost everything—his home, his belongings, and so many memories that can never be replaced.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thankfully, Xavier, his mom, and younger brother are safe, but the emotional and financial impact of this disaster is overwhelming.
</div>
<div><br />

<div><br />
</div>
<div>We’re coming together to support Xavier during this incredibly difficult time. The funds raised here will help him find a safe place to stay and get the essentials he needs for him and his family. Every donation, no matter the amount, will make a world of difference and help lighten the load as he navigates the loss and hardship caused by this fire.
</div>
<div><br />

<div>Please consider donating and sharing with others who may be able to help. Every bit of support brings Xavier one step closer to healing and finding hope again.

Help Xavier & Family After The Eaton Fire

<div>Only 8 days into the new year, and my family has lost up to 4 homes in this devastating LA fire. Years of history, love, and tradition have gone up in flames.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our family has been hit hard. My elderly aunts—who my mom lives with and cares for—lost their homes in this fire. Over the past 24 hours, my brother and I have worked tirelessly to ensure they all have a roof over their heads, but it hasn’t been easy.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This loss is even deeper because we also lost a home that was the heart of our Haitian legacy. Purchased by my grandfather in the 1970s, it was where he sent for my grandmother and my mom to join him from Haiti. It was where my mom and her siblings grew up, and where my siblings and I learned to cook Haitian dishes, understand Creole, and remain connect to our roots.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Adding to the heartbreak, my Aunt Naomi and her children—KJ (9), Kayla (12), and Michael (20)—also called this house their home. It was their safe haven, and now they've lost everything. Breaking the news to the kids after the holidays was especially devastating, as we never imagined it would be our last holiday in that home.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are humbly reaching out for your support. If you can contribute any amount, it would mean the world to us as we work to provide stability for our families as they navigate this unimaginable loss. Every bit helps, and we are deeply grateful for your prayers and support.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>To our community who has also been impacted by this devastation, our hearts are with you. Together, we will rise, rebuild, and honor the legacy of those who came before us.

Help Us Restore Our Haitian Legacy

<div>Update: WOW! We cannot believe the response we got today. Thank you to everyone who donated to this fundraiser. This morning we set a goal of raising $18,000, and within less than nine hours we raised more than more than $98,000. The community response was truly amazing, and this is why we love Baltimore.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With this campaign completely exceeding our expectations and the Latino Racial Justice Circle being 100% volunteer-run, we have decided to close the fundraiser so that we can now focus on getting the funds we raised today out to the families. We understand that many more people want to contribute, and we ask that going forward people donate to the fundraiser that the Baltimore City Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs set up this afternoon. Please encourage your friends and family to donate here: <a href="https://www.baltimorecivicfund.org/key-bridge-response-fund" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.baltimorecivicfund.org/key-bridge-response-fund</a>

<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Latino Racial Justice Circle is raising money to support the families of the victims of the Francis Scott Key bridge collapse. This is still a developing story*, but we know that the 6 victims were all Latino immigrants who were supporting partners and children in the Southeast Baltimore and Dundalk communities. As they move forward with their shock and grief, the families will need support with basic needs, such as rent, groceries, and utilities. We are setting our goal to raise $60,000 so that we can help each family with $10,000 during this difficult time. The funds will be distributed directly to the families.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please spread the word and share with your networks so we can get the maximum support for these victims.

Support for families of Key bridge collapse

<div>The Logue family is faced with a daunting challenge when asbestos was suspected in their home. Advised to ensure their families safety, they sought assistance from an environmental company. Unfortunately, the company they chose, purportedly local (Rochester, NY), turned out to be based in Philadelphia and subcontracted work to a team from Syracuse. This decision led to a catastrophic asbestos disturbance that contaminated their entire home when the asbestos inspector fell through the ceiling.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Despite relentless efforts to resolve the situation with the elusive and distant company, the Logues found themselves in a precarious position. With a high school senior and foster twins under their care, the upheaval was particularly challenging. As foster parents, they faced stringent relocation constraints, exacerbating their plight.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Driven by necessity, the Logues incurred significant financial strain to secure alternative accommodation. Concurrently, they initiated legal proceedings against the Philadelphia based company to rectify the damage and contamination.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As they navigate the arduous journey ahead, the Logue family needs financial assistance to sustain their temporary residence and cover unforeseen expenses, including replacing essential contaminated belongings. Your support can ensure their well-being and enable them to continue providing a nurturing environment for the two young foster children in their care.
</div>

Help the Logue Family while they are displaced

<div>Greetings everyone!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This fundraiser started as a small effort to provide flour and bread to families in Gaza. Thanks to your kindness and generosity, we were able to help, and since then I have continued this fundraiser to support families whenever and however we can.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As you may have seen from my updates, the needs keep changing, so the type of help we provide may change as well. But the goal is still the same: to help people in need in Gaza and bring them a little relief during these very difficult times.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I will continue sharing updates so you can see where the donations are going and how your support is helping.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you so much to everyone who has donated, shared, supported, and kept these families in your prayers.

Support for Families in Need in Gaza

<div>We are families of over two decades of previous mass shootings from across this country. Our hearts are breaking for the victims and survivors of the mass shootings in Lewiston, Maine shooting where 18 people were murdered, 13 were wounded on October 25, 2023.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are the same families of previous mass shootings who collected donations for the victims/survivors of the Allen (TX) outlet mall shooting, the Uvalde (TX) school shooting, and the mass shooting at Club Q in Colorado Springs (CO), and many others. We have always ensured that 100% went directly to them. We will do the same again for our new, unfortunate mass shooting family in Lewiston.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our families of previous mass shootings have been re-victimized when nonprofits say they are collecting donations for victims but do not actually give donations directly to victims. VictimsFirst's philosophy is very different. We believe in full transparency, honoring donor intent and providing the victims the opportunity to choose for themselves how to spend your generous financial gifts meant for them.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We, VictimsFirst have started this fund so the victims’ families and those wounded and those present are protected from fraud and exploitation. You can read more about what we do and who we are at www.victimsfirst.org.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>VictimsFirst will work with local victim advocates to distribute these funds. If this country’s leading expert Jeff Dion is called upon, we will work with him and grant the donations to a trusted organization which creates a centralized victims fund that guarantees 100% will go directly to victims.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We take no admin fee and we take no portion of your donation for our administration costs.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for your compassion and kindness. All donations will be designated specifically for the victims of the Lewiston mass shootings. VictimsFirst's EIN is 32-0656956.

<div><strong><em>ORIGINAL MESSAGE - JULY 15, 2023</em></strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On May 25, 2023, Attorney General Todd Rokita brought five charges against Dr. Caitlin Bernard before the Indiana Medical Licensing Board. After hearing fifteen hours of witness testimony and argument, the Board exonerated Dr. Bernard on the most serious and baseless charges – alleged failure to report child abuse and being “unfit” to practice medicine – but imposed a letter of reprimand and fines based on alleged privacy violations.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are Ob/Gyn providers &amp; abortion providers from across the country who want to thank our colleague, Dr. Caitlin Bernard, for doing a courageous thing and helping provide compassionate healthcare to a child in her time of need. Many of us have experienced this in our line of work, and the ability to rise to the call despite tragedy like this is truly commendable.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As a result of her doing her job, she has come under intense scrutiny and needs urgent assistance, as well as security for her family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are starting this GoFundMe to help her pay for these expenses and ask for your help in supporting her.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>"My heart breaks for all survivors of sexual assault and abuse. I am so sad that our country is failing them when they need us most. Doctors must be able to give people the medical care they need, when and where they need it." - Dr. Caitlin Bernard

Abortion Providers Supporting Dr. Caitlin Bernard

<div>The Flurry Festival, which takes place over Presidents Weekend and is one of the largest traditional dance and music festivals in North America,(<a href="https://www.flurryfestival.org" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><a href="https://www.flurryfestival.org" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.flurryfestival.org</a></a>) has been primarily attendee supported for 35 years. In 2021, we held the virtual <em>Dancing in the Cloud</em>, because we couldn't safely gather in person. Then in 2022, Omicron forced us to cancel in late fall. When we finally brought the Flurry Festival back in person on Feb 17th-19th, 2023, it was a cause for celebration and brought joy to many! Prior to the pandemic, the Flurry Festival brought nearly 5,000 dancers, volunteers and performers to Saratoga Springs, NY over the festival weekend. This year's Flurry, however, attracted only 1,087 ticket purchasers, far below the 1,650 we had cautiously budgeted for.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>While we had planned to split overhead and other fixed costs between the February festival and a June "Spring Bloom" event, the low February turnout has now forced us to cancel the June festival and focus on saving the Flurry itself.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>We need to raise $100,000 so we can hold the 2024 Flurry Festival.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>We need to raise funds quickly to secure our venues, or the Flurry as we know it cannot continue.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Between the unexpected $60,000 loss of ticket income at the February festival and the additional $40,000 in administrative pay and venue deposits which had been expected to be recouped by Spring Bloom, the Flurry’s losses in 2023 approximate $100,000. Without your support in raising this amount, our path forward remains unclear.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please give as generously as you can. <strong><em>Any</em></strong> size gift will help us
</div>
<div>reach our goal. Thank you!

Save the Flurry Festival

<div>On Wednesday April 27th, our sweet Foxy Lady was barely lifting her head and wouldn’t eat or drink. We obviously knew something was wrong and immediately took her to a Veterinary Urgent Care. Very quickly, they diagnosed her with Pyometra.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>Pyometra is a secondary infection in the uterus that occurs as a result of hormonal changes in the female's reproductive tract. The vet told us very clearly that our options were immediate emergency surgery or putting Foxy Lady to sleep. We were also informed that the surgery would cost up to $7,000.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>We still had time to decide until a few more lab results came back to know the severity of the issue and if it had been caused by cancer.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>$7,000 is definitely not in our budget unexpectedly like that, and so our options were limited. We decided that the only way we would move forward with surgery was if Foxy’s labs showed an early and non cancerous condition (because that would mean a FULL recovery and a completely healthy little lady!). If surgery would be a complete cure we would do it.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>The Vet got the results and confirmed that Foxy was a prime candidate for surgery as she was only just becoming septic and had no tumors or cancer present. He assured us that she has quite a few more years left in her if we did the surgery, and would make a full recovery.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>So, we decided to do it. We put over $3,000 down on the surgery, and decided we would just figure out how to make this work.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>We intend to cover the cost of surgery and pay off the total amount however we can, but are also looking to our friends and family to contribute any amount they might be able to in order to offset some of the cost.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>Any amount raised that goes above and beyond the remaining surgery costs after our own investment, we will donate to “Waggle”, an organization that works with pet owners and veterinarians to cover the cost of medical bills that would prevent medical care.

<div>Today, I am a proud Ukrainian. While my family came to the United States in 1991, I was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine in 1983. Ukrainians are proud and brave people who deserve our help in their time of need. This unjust attack on Ukraine and humanity at large is devastating and the Ukrainian people need our support. <strong>Our family is starting this fund to help provide immediate support and we will be matching up to $3 million dollars.</strong>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>While we are witnessing the bravery of Ukrainians, we are also bearing witness to the unimaginable burden of those who have chosen safety. Countless amounts of people have left everything they know and love behind to seek refuge. With nothing but what they could carry, these Ukrainian refugees are in need of housing and supplies right away.
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>Through GoFundMe.org, this fundraiser will provide an immediate impact on refugee and humanitarian aid efforts. The fund will benefit Flexport.org and Airbnb.org, two organizations who are actively on the ground providing immediate help to those who need it most.

</div>
<div><em>Airbnb.org is a nonprofit organization dedicated to facilitating temporary stays for people in times of crisis around the world. The inspiration for Airbnb.org began in 2012 with a single host named Shell who opened up her home to people impacted by Hurricane Sandy. This sparked a movement and marked the beginning of a program that allows Hosts on Airbnb to provide stays for people in times of need. Since then, the program has evolved to focus on emergency response and to help provide stays to evacuees, relief workers, refugees, asylum seekers, and most recently, frontline workers fighting the spread of COVID-19. Since then, Hosts have offered to open up their homes and helped provide accommodations to 100,000 people in times of need. Airbnb.org is a separate and independent entity from Airbnb, Inc. Airbnb, Inc. does not charge service fees for Airbnb.org supported stays on its platform.</em>

Stand With Ukraine

<div>Dylan Smith has been diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma.  An approximately 31 week Chemo treatment plan will start November 1st, with the possibility of radiation in between.  With so many unknowns, this is how we are going to support Dylan, Ryan, Angela and the entire family.
</div>

<div><br />You can use this link to follow along and receive updates on his journey <a href="https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/dylanmichael/journal" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><a href="https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/dylanmichael/journal" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/dylanmichael/journal</a></a>.  <br /><br />
</div>

<div>How it all began:
</div>

<div>In September Dylan started complaining of his left hamstring bothering him, we thought it was a sprained hamstring from sports even though he could not remember hurting it. Over the next couple of weeks his leg got worse. He was in so much pain constantly that it would bring him to tears. So we began to think he may have tore a ligament or tendon. Which we got checked out and he did not. We tried looking at the bigger picture and started noticing other things that raised our concern. He was thinning out, his appetite went from eating us out of house and home to almost nothing, extreme fatigue, headaches, stomach pains and pain when walking, lost almost 30 lbs in 2 months, had no desire for food and just was not our usual bud. Things were not adding up so we sought help from his primary care physician. She ordered every blood test possibly from inflammation markers to Lyme disease to mono, diabetes and more. We were going to cover every base.
</div>

<div>Blood work came back with no clear explanation but did raise a red flag that something was not right. His PCP ordered a CT of his abdomen to start in hopes it would give us some answers. We ended up not being able to wait for the scheduled CT the next day because that night Dyl was having stomach pains that made it hard to breathe. His PCP suggested an ED visit to get the CT done asap.
</div>

<div>CT RESULTS: on the scan the radiologist noticed a lesion on his ilium (mass on his pelvic bone basically). This is usually a sign of cancer and we had the choice to be transferred to Golisano Children's Hospital or go home to rest until they had a room ready for us possibly the next day. We chose to go home. LONGEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE. That word is terrifying, numbing, crippling....I can't even describe it.
</div>

<div>Waiting is the worst. I could not think straight, could not eat, was nauseous and helpless.
</div>

<div>We got the call the next day that a room would be ready at 4. Dyl and I packed a bag to get us through several days of testing and headed out. As you can imagine everyone was a mess. The twins are too young to understand and Dyl is their world. So they were upset he was leaving. Maddie I think refused then and still refuses to have any thought other than he will be fine. Which I envy and absolutely need her positivity. There is no right or wrong way to feel right now.
</div>

<div>Dyl broke down a couple times on the car ride up and typical Dyl fashion it had nothing to do with his fears it had everything to do with leaving everyone so sad. His only complaint or worries has been not wanting to be poked and prodded. I did not have it in me to tell him what he was about to face. We were just going to have to take it minute by minute and moment by moment.
</div>

<div>ARRIVAL: Golisanos Children's Hospital is amazing. His private room, the staff and amenities are remarkable. We got in and they started right away. We were in for a long couple of days but we needed answers so we were going to do whatever was needed.<br /><br />All funds raised through this GoFundMe will be disbursed to Diane Smith, Dylan's grandma, who will transfer the funds to Ryan and Angela to be used for medical expenses, gas and parking for treatments, groceries and other miscellaneous expenses.

Dylan's Defenders

<p>Hi, I'm Patrick Freivald, and I'm fundraising for my best friend, Matt Rowley. Matt, only 48 years old, had a stroke last week that has paralyzed him on the right half of his body, after recovering from Covid this past winter and a heart attack last fall. He has made a little bit of progress but is still in the hospital and still very much paralyzed.
</p>
<p><br />
</p>
<p>This has left him and his family with large (and pending) medical bills, and in the coming weeks and months they will need to pay for additional hospital time, inpatient and outpatient rehab, therapy, medication, plus things that insurance doesn't even touch—a mobility wheelchair, remodeling their home (at least the entryway and bathroom) to accommodate his condition, plus the lost income for himself and his wife Melissa (a nurse).
</p>
<p><br />
</p>
<p>I sat down with Melissa and we think $125,000 is a realistic but possibly conservative amount to cover what they need so that Matt can come home in a few months or a year to something closer to a normal life as a husband, father, grandfather, and dear friend. Fortunately he has better insurance than he did last fall, where the bills for his heart attack were devastating, but that situation has certainly made this one that much more dire.
</p>
<p><br />
</p>
<p>Anything you can give, even just the GoFundMe minimum of $5, will be most appreciated. Every penny will go toward managing Matt's hospitalization, rehabilitation, and to needed upgrades he'll need for the rest of his life.
</p>
<p><br />
</p>
<p>Thank you so much.
</p>

<p><strong>UPDATE: WE ARE RAISING MORE MONEY TO ALLOW THE PLANES TO KEEP DOING MORE TURNS.</strong><br /><br />We are coming to you in desperation to conduct an <strong>emergency flight rescue</strong> of 300+ Afghan souls. I have been working alongside humanitarian aid groups, decorated military veterans, and activists on the ground in Kabul, fighting to save people who otherwise have no chance at survival in the Taliban-occupied Kabul.<br /><br />The individuals in question are high-value targets - Afghan men and women who have worked as human rights lawyers, champions of Women’s and LGBTQ rights, journalists, government liaisons, artists, and interpreters - all of whom are at <strong>imminent risk of being executed by the Taliban,</strong> along with their families. We will be taking full family units.<br /><br />If these people do not get rescued as soon as possible, neither they nor their family will make it through the month. The Taliban have a KILL LIST and are going door to door, searching for these people and reportedly <strong>killing them on sight if found</strong>. Every one of these individuals on the manifest have been vetted.<br /><br />Due to the rapidly deteriorating situation in Kabul, this rescue mission will only be possible if $550,000 is raised to fuel 2 airplanes to fly into Kabul from a foreign country.  <strong>If we raise twice the amount ($1,100,000), we’ll do another run. There are enough people in need to make many round-trips with our two airplanes. We will continue multiplying as goals are met. </strong><br /><br />With help from people on the ground in Kabul, and the newfound security of the airport due to increased US presence — we have arranged for a <strong>safe onboarding process</strong>. All of the people who will be boarding the planes have been extensively vetted.<br /><br /><strong>Every $1,500 raised represents a seat on one of the planes, and a life saved.</strong><br /><br /><strong>Please share wide and far, as hundreds of lives are at stake.</strong><br /><br /><strong>FUNDING</strong><br /><br />The money will be paid to and distributed from Raven Advisory, LLC, based in NC.<br /><br />Any overages in funds raised beyond flights will be donated to the International Women’s Media Foundation, who are actively helping with this rescue effort + settlement, to help the people we rescue start a new life. <br /><br />Destinations have been secured to allow our planes safe passage + landing, and locations cannot be disclosed until the flights have arrived safely. Updates will be provided frequently. <br /><br />Special thanks to our partners:<br /><br />The International Women’s Media Organization (IWMF) is the only organization that provides safety training, byline opportunities, and emergency support tailored to women journalists and photographers around the world. <br /><br />Raven Advisory, LLC is a multi-dimensional integrator for risk management, security, training, and humanitarian efforts. Please keep this amazing young man in your thoughts and prayers!

Mike's Fight Against Brain Cancer

On Friday we received the unfortunate news that Mike's brain tumor has returned and he must undergo surgery on July 30th to remove as much of the tumor as possible and implant chemotherapy. <br /><br />After the meeting with his surgeon, we are optimistic that the majority of the tumor will be removed successfully, but the length of recovery and post-op treatment plan are still unknown.<br /><br />This page has been created to assist Mike with his expenses and to post regular updates.<br /><br />On behalf of Mike and his family, thank you for your support as he continues his battle.
