Hello, my name is Maria, and I'm raising funds to improve the quality of life for my parents, both 74 years old.
My mother, who is physically and mentally dependent on my father, has a recognized disability of 76% due to a stroke she suffered in 2007. Since then, her recovery has been very difficult; half of her body is paralyzed, causing her to fall frequently.
My father has very fragile health, prostate problems, and very poor eyesight. He also has mobility issues and can barely perform basic tasks on his own. They both live in a village 63 kilometers from where I live, with a population of 344.
The village has absolutely nothing; it lacks basic services, and if you need to buy anything, you have to travel seven kilometers, an enormous distance for my parents, who are unable to get around.
The home where they live lacks the essential adaptations for their physical and mental condition. They can no longer live there; it is neither viable nor economically feasible. Adapting it would not be cost-effective because basic services are too far away, and the house has serious defects that could cause it to collapse.
Financially, they have a very low retirement pension, which makes it very difficult for them to make ends meet.
My situation in the city is not very different. I have two children, both with disabilities.
My daughter has a recognized disability of 33%, is 25 years old, and suffers from borderline personality disorder, in addition to serious mental health problems that make it difficult for her to live independently.
My son has a recognized disability of 36%, is 6 years old, and suffers from autism spectrum disorder. He is completely dependent on me, which causes him daily adjustment problems.
As for me... I am a single mother with an enormous emotional and physical burden,
unable to work at the moment, since my son and the house take up all my time, as does my daughter.
As an only child, I have no way to resolve the current situation because my income is also very limited, and I barely make ends meet. I also don't have a car to get around.
My parents get emotional every time they see their grandchildren, especially the youngest. They burst into tears, but there are also moments of absolute happiness. Seeing them with their grandchildren changes their expressions, their emotions, their words... Saying goodbye is always the worst part for them. They feel like they'll never see them again. They can't live where I live because the house isn't suitable for them, and there isn't enough space for all of us to live together.
That's their biggest dream, their grandchildren's dream, and mine: to give them an excellent quality of life, all living in the same house, a house with everything they need, a home adapted to their needs.
A house with at least four spacious bedrooms and, as I said, adapted to everyone's needs.
The purpose of this fundraiser is to fulfill my elderly parents' dream: that they can live out their final years in the best possible conditions, surrounded by their grandchildren, who bring them life and joy. The happiness of my children when they are with their grandparents is indescribable; it is pure joy.
