On April 3rd, I was told that I might have cancer in my right lung. After a whirlwind of appointments and tests, I met with my new doctor on May 5th and received the news that I have stage 4 lung cancer. I am scheduled to begin treatment on May 22nd, and to be honest, I am scared and unsure of what the future holds. This isn’t my first battle with cancer—I survived cervical cancer in 2018 and underwent a full hysterectomy. Facing cancer again is overwhelming, but I am determined to keep fighting, especially for my children. The emotional toll has been heavy. Most days, I struggle with depression and anxiety, and I find myself crying often. The uncertainty and fear are sometimes more than I can bear, but I try to hold on for my family and the people who care about me. My biggest concern is the financial burden this diagnosis places on my family. I want to make sure my children are supported and that my final wishes are taken care of, as I do not have life insurance. My hope is for a simple cremation, with no viewing or flowers, to keep things as easy as possible for my loved ones. My son, in particular, has been a huge part of my life, and I know this will be hardest on him. To my family, I love you very much and I am so proud of you. Any support—whether through donations or simply sharing my story—means the world to me. Thank you for being there for me during this difficult time.
