<div>On her way home from the Oregon Country Fair, our dear friend Mickey experienced a medical event that led her to the local ER in Grand Junction upon her return.
</div>
<div>They realized that she had suffered a heart attack which lead to open heart surgery and a triple bypass.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Right now, Mickey is recovering and unable to work, and that has made everyday expenses much harder to keep up with.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The funds from this fundraiser will help with Mickey's day-to-day living costs, including rent, utilities, and medical bills, while recovery continues. With her work on hold, this support would help ease some of the immediate financial pressure and give Mickey more room to focus on healing.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Mickey has always been there to help and support her friends, with her loving and generous spirit.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Being far away and not being able to physically help has been one of the hardest parts for me.
</div>
<div>Since I can't be there in person the way I want to, I'm asking for help here instead.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you are able to donate or share this fundraiser, it would mean so much. Any support for Mickey during this recovery is deeply appreciated.

Support Mickey's Recovery and Living Costs

<div>As we walk the road of reconciliation there is a growing need to reclaim Indigenous ancestral knowledge practices.
</div>
<div>Together we can create a safe ancestral knowledge haven to reintroduce ourselves to the lands that sustain life. Itsvtime to pick up the wisdom of the ancestors by reinvigorating food harvesting, food forests, traditional environmental housing builds, preeservation techniques resource management connected to seasonal harvesting practices, growing gardens, saving heritage seeds, honouring ceremonies, relearning our ancestral languages and songs, honouring the earth and all our plant and animal relatives.
</div>
<div>Together we can revisit food sovereignty and set our younger generations up for health wealth and true relationships with the lands and waters.
</div>
<div>Its a big dream to support the greater good
</div>
<div>Will you join us in making this vision come true?

<div>My name is Xiomara. I'm a Colombian adoptee who returned last year to live here. I am an artist, community organizer, singer and massage therapist. <strong>I live in Cali, Colombia in the Alameda neighborhood. </strong>Colombia just had a 7.7 Earthquake today and my apartment building is destroyed. I am raising funds to help with two things:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>1. <strong>My recovery and support </strong>as my little dog and I navigate this disaster and recovering what we can.
</div>
<div>2. <strong>Mutual aid support to purchase water, face masks and protective goggles for our rescue workers</strong> who are working diligently to pull people out of buildings. Funds will also be used with discretion to purchase items like arepas and empanadas to bring to workers and people who have lost everything also.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If it's for my recovery please feel free to note that in your donation so that I know. I'll try to update through recovery efforts. Thank you so much in advance for even $5 which helps buy 3 protective eye goggles. I will try to get more photos tomorrow, today was mostly spent in shock and not taking much photos or videos.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>As of now the death toll is 111 and over 26 buildings solely in Cali have fallen. </strong>Many, many injuries including hospitals that had large pieces just fall. Thank you for keeping Colombia in your hearts.

In Loving Memory of Faye Paul

<div>Hello, my name is Mona, and I am along with Lavones kids reaching out to my family and friends with a heartfelt request to support my sister, Lavone, as she navigates a challenging time in her life. In December 2023, Lavone received the heartbreaking diagnosis of Bulbar ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. ALS is a degenerative neuromuscular disease that affects approximately 2,500 to 4,000 Canadians. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this disease, so our hope is to focus on ensuring that Lavone’s quality of life remains as high as possible, allowing her to experience life to the fullest. Lavone was diagnosed in December 2023, about 14 months after her first symptom—slurred speech—appeared.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Although bulbar ALS is known to progress quickly, Lavone has faced each challenge and her new normal with resilience. The ALS Society of Canada, CAYA, and PROP Canada have all been incredible resources, providing her with communication tools and a wheelchair. However, one essential need that is not covered is a vehicle suitable for transporting her wheelchair. As a result, she is now confined to a wheelchair, making it difficult for her to attend appointments and limiting her ability to enjoy simple pleasures outside her home.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Wheelchair-accessible vans are a significant expense but have become essential for Lavone at this stage of her journey. Many of you have kindly asked how you can help, and while we have always encouraged donations to the ALS Society, we’re now asking you to consider giving a little more from your hearts. Your support will enable Lavone to create meaningful memories with family and friends beyond the confines of her home.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Lavone has always been a generous soul, giving so much to her community—both financially and emotionally—whenever there was a need. If you are able to help, your contribution can truly make a difference in her quality of life during this difficult time. If you are unable to assist financially, sharing this message can also go a long way. Thank you for considering this.

<div>The car rolled three times and was totaled. Jess miraculously walked away from the crash but she needs our help in dealing with getting a new vehicle, and likely other expenses while she's getting back on her feet.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We haven't heard yet how much insurance will pay but it's never enough.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Jess will use the money to get a new car, which she needs for travel to and from work, transporting youth to ceremony and for gathering seasons.

<div>Chief Caleen Sisk, the Winnemem Wintu Tribe's spiritual leader, is turning 70 next month, and you can celebrate this momentous birthday with her by contributing to this GoFundMe.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Chief Caleen is a tireless defender of salmon, rivers and Winnemem Wintu lifeways. She has sacrificed a great deal to take on the responsibility of leading her people through these challenging times. Under her leadership, the Winnemem Wintu Tribe has revitalized many ceremonies and politically, spiritually and legally fought to protect Winnemem sacred sites as well as rivers, drinking water and salmon for everyone in California. Most recently, our advocacy under her leadership has contributed to the historic return of Chinook salmon eggs to the McCloud River for the first time since the dam was built in the 1940s.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As a leader of a tribe that the BIA has stripped of federal recognition, we are financially limited even though we are very rich in culture. Thus, anything you can contribute will help Chief Sisk continue her fight for justice and the restoration of Chinook salmon to the McCloud River. (And also maybe help her have something extra to ensure she has a little more fun while doing it).
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Winnemem Wintu Tribe is very grateful for the leadership and commitment of Chief Sisk, and you can help us make this birthday the special one she deserves.

<div><br />
</div>
<div>More about Chief Caleen:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>She is only the fifth Winnemem WIntu Chief since the incursion of Euro-American settlers. She worked side by side with the former spiritual leader and Top Doctor Florence Jones in her elder years and became Chief herself 20 years ago. She has since revitalized the Coming of Age Ceremony, bringing nine young girls into womanhood while having to fight for our right to a safe and respectful ceremony. She also brought back the War Dance to stop the raising of Shasta Dam and with that was guided to speak up to the world. She also learned after that ceremony that the McCloud River Chinook salmon still existed and flourished in New Zealand and took her people to do ceremony there in 2011. The government and Māori offered to return her salmon runs. Despite the huge blocks by institutions, Chief Sisk did not give up. The Run4Salmon Prayer journey was her response, and now in its 7th year, it is uniting tribes and protectors on the Sacramento River to carry the prayer and alert the state to the damage done to our river systems. This year she also was asked to co-partner the first historic reintroduction of hatchery salmon eggs above the dam in homewaters of the Winnemem because the runs have not succeeded. The salmon are severely endangered. The promise is in 2025 her salmon from Nee Zealand will be introduced as eyed eggs. Chief Sisk has impacted the world through the United Nations. Her testimony about the injustices faced by unrecognized tribes who had no human right to religion opened up an international conversation.

<div>The Winnemem Wintu Tribe, whose traditional territories stretch from Mt. Shasta, along the McCloud River to the Sacramento River, narrowly missed a wildfire disaster last week. The recent Fawn Wildfire in Redding, California, swept in early morning and as the tribe evacuated, the fire came up the west slope of Bear Mountain and quickly burned down the other side as firefighters fought it to the west edge of the village. The blaze endangered the homes of approximately 40 people and the area for the construction of the new Round House, a ceremonial place of prayer practiced by many California tribes up and down the state, before it was stopped just ten to twenty feet away.
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>The tribe has been training in wildfire response. Winnemem young men are part of the wildfire cleanup and monitor teams. However to specifically keep their village safe, equipment the tribe needs equipment to upkeep about five acres on which houses, out buildings, barn, corral and eventually the Round House stand. A working tractor is critically necessary to keep the dry grass down on five acres, and deal with heavy logs, digging fire lines and trenches around the living area far enough out that a wildfire has less chance to get so close to the village again.
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>Equally relevant regarding wildfire response is the Winnemem obligation to balance fire and water spiritually, through ceremony. When completed, the new Round House will be specifically for returning Fire and Water into balance. Chief Caleen Sisk was told that where the prayer fires are not being lit, the waters flood in; and where the water is being abused, the fires rush in. Even though Northern California is the main source of California water, the northernmost part of the state has been in drought because of historical mismanagement favoring big agriculture. What happens when there is a drought in the region where water should be plentiful? Dangerous wildfires plague the area every summer now for three years, destroying homes and taking lives. A tractor is also key for a powerful ceremonial response to the wildfires. Constructing the Round House is the immediate and heavy task that remains. For the past three years, the young men have worked on digging out the floor, carving the directional poles and the giant pole in front. The tribe's feather and regalia artist has made the outfits for the Round House dancers and spirits of that dance. The songs have come in. There is a Round House Captain and songs. But we are stymied at the point of finishing the final construction of the actual building, which will allow Round House peoples from all over the state to come together. For this final phase, a tractor and a portable mill are needed, to prepare and raise the structural timbers of the Round House. The requested amount represents about half of the fire protection goal, but it is a start. Whatever is given will be received with gratitude.

<div>I am Misa Joo, tribal member of the Winnemem Wintu Tribe. All funds raised will go directly into the Indian Cultural Organization (ICO) a 501c3, the non-profit organization of the Winnemem Wintu Tribe, to be used toward buying a tractor and equipment for fire preparedness.

“Tribal people who live traditionally do not fit neatly into a system that prioritizes institutionalization. We care for those who can’t care for themselves, and we do it collectively. This is not a crime.” — Chief Caleen Sisk<br /><br /><strong>Who is Caleen?</strong><br /><br />Caleen Sisk is the Spiritual Leader and Chief of the Winnemem Wintu Tribe, who practice their traditional culture and ceremonies in the McCloud River watershed of northern California. As tribal leader, Caleen takes responsibility for all members of the tribe and their families.<br /><br />Caleen is a leading voice raising awareness about salmon restoration and the sacredness of water. She is a strong advocate for cultural preservation, religious freedom and protection of the rights of indigenous people around the world. <br /><br /><strong>What support is needed?</strong><br /><br />We are friends of Caleen who are inviting our extended communities to join us in helping to pay the substantial legal fees associated with charges leveled at Caleen after she announced her campaign for California State Assembly in 2018—as the first indigenous woman to run for office in the district. Although Caleen did not win the election, we know how important Caleen’s leadership is, and we continue to stand alongside her as she and her lawyers work to address these charges. Caleen did not do what she is accused of doing and the charges should be dropped. <br /><br /><strong>What happened?</strong><br /><br />For many years, Caleen has cared for Karen, an elderly relative with Down syndrome, who lives in the Winnemem tribal village and is a beloved member of the tribe. She now requires 24/7 care. Some, but not all, of the costs of that care are covered by In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS), a department of the State of California. Over the years IHSS has consistently visited and approved of the care Caleen has provided since she took over seven years ago from someone who abandoned this responsibility. There have never been any questions about the quality of care that Caleen and the community provide.<br /><br />Caleen has always cooperated with IHSS, and made the agency aware of her work as a tribal and spiritual leader, the work she does outside of California, and all she does for members of her tribe. Now, she is being accused of welfare fraud and faces fines and possibly jail time. Several lawyers have reviewed the evidence against Caleen and said unequivocally that these criminal charges should not have been brought. This matter should either be handled as a civil misunderstanding about a maze of paperwork, or dropped entirely—but the Shasta County District Attorney has persisted.<br /><br />Over the course of 2019, Caleen attended a series of court hearings with her attorney, and the case was repeatedly delayed. Her next court date is on March 11, 2020. Recently, the Shasta County DA added an additional charge, related to Caleen’s continued care for Karen while she was off of other work with broken ribs. Caleen had to hire a second attorney to handle that case, so her legal fees continue to mount.<br /><br /><strong>How can you help?</strong><br /><br />We invite you to give what you can in support of Caleen’s legal expenses. No amount is too small. All contributions will go directly to pay the fees for Caleen’s lawyers, costs of her legal defense (postage, copying, etc.), and, if needed, a court settlement. Due to the funds needing to be split between Caleen's two lawyers and a potential settlement, a bank account has been established for the sole purpose of distributing these funds. Checks can be accepted to reduce GoFundMe fees, please message us. Our goal is to raise $40,000 by March 11, 2020, Caleen's next court date. Thank you very much for your support.

SustainUS COP 25 Indigenous Youth Delegation

My name is Ron Toppi, owner/operator of Chico Bikesmith, a bicycle shop in Chico California. Chico Bikesmith is a shop specializing in custom refurbished/re-imagined bicycles and functional art created out of bicycle parts. <br /><br />My vision is to create a gathering place, a creative space, a learning place. <br /><br />Bicycles build Community. With the challenging times we are in there also comes opportunity to come together as communities. We need simple things we can do in our daily lives that have great impact on us and our environment. Bicycles are one simple way we can make an impact on our lives in a healthy way. Reusing/Repurposing is a simple way to impact our environment. <br /><br />We've been holding Childrens Bike Swaps in Chico (see the video posted) on and off for 8 years now. These events have huge impacts in any community. Parents no longer have to buy a new bicycle every other year for their child to have a bike that fits. They give others the opportunity to put their old bike they've out grown back in the community. It brings neighborhoods/communities together. And it puts more children on bikes! I want to continue with this program and also start an adult bike swap. <br /><br />Educating people, especially beginning riders, on safe cycling and easy maintenance tips is also something I enjoy. Part of the vision for this shop is to hold regular workshops and host safe riding rides.  <br /><br />Currently Chico Bikesmith occupies a small space in a warehouse. This campaign is to help raise enough to move to a better location with retail frontage and room to create a community space. Picture walking into a shop that is a gathering place, with creative art space, a coffee and juice bar, seating area, a do-it-yourself work station. My vision is for this shop to be community supporting and supported. <br /><br />Funding from this campaign will provide:<br />- up to 6 months rent on a retail location<br />- needed tools for shop and diy work area<br />- merchandising and other shop fixtures <br /><br />Donations of $50 or more receive a custom Chico Bikesmith Logo cycling cap. <br /><br /><br />Please give what you can to make this vision reality.<br /><br />sincerely<br />Ron Toppi<br />"changing the world one bike at a time!"

My name is Hawane Rios, my mountain is Mauna Kea, my river is Kohākōhau, and the land that me raised me is Pu’ukapu, Waimea, Hawai’i. I am a chanter, dancer, singer and songwriter. <strong>I believe that music is the portal in which my unwavering love for the land, mountains, waters and people came to be.</strong> <br /><br />Music is a conduit for sound vibrations to heal the mind body and soul of the people and the land. It connects us all together regardless of color, age, beliefs, and histories. Contained in the vibration of my music, is the unifying message centered on protecting the rights of our beautiful earth, our Mother.  From this understanding, <strong>I’ve been moved to write and sing songs that reflect my deep love and commitment to Mauna Kea and all sacred places.</strong><br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/22793994_1501999720.304_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" />For the past two years I have been working on a full length album comprised of original compositions that focus on social justice, unified change, universal healing, and the movements many have stood for to protect the earth and Indigenous cultural practices and rights. The musicians featured on this album are amongst those whom I have formed a true and sacred friendship through years of harmonizing our voices, intentions, and experiences together. Their presence as the heartbeat of this album is profoundly special to me. <br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/22793994_1502000122.1992_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" />In alignment with the blessings of the mountain, I met my producer, Matthias Scheffler, while he was visiting Hawai’i at the ahu (altar) of Pu’u Huluhulu at the base of Mauna Kea. Little did I know that two years later I would be recording with him on the polar opposite side of the planet in Germany. It is a privilege and an honor to be creating music with someone who truly trusts and believes in me, my voice, my heart and my music. <br /><br />As many of you are aware, the stance for Mauna Kea and movements throughout Hawaii and on  Turtle Island have been an integral part of  my life throughout the time I have spent working on my music. <strong>I am so excited to announce that the tracks are almost complete and you can listen to them <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/rheya4vk3rt8l4e/Hawane_GoFundMe_Snippet.mp3?dl=0" target="_blank">here</a> .<br /><br /></strong>The  final stages of completing this album will require one last trip to the recording studio in Germany this fall. I am asking for your support to raise funds which  will be utilized for travel, musicians and recording, CD production, promotion and marketing to help reach all the corners of the world. <br /><br /><strong>The money we raise will go towards:<br /><br />+15k </strong>will help us cover travel costs, studio and production costs as well as engineering and mastering costs.<strong><br />+ 5k </strong>will help us with producing my CD and getting it ready for distribution.<br /><br /><strong>In gratitude to each and everyone of you for donating to this gift of music;</strong><br /><br /><strong>+For everyone who donates $100.00 or more </strong>you will receive a Mauna Kea Shawl.<strong> (shawls will be sent out as long as supply lasts)<br /><br /></strong>(We will follow up with you by email.)<strong> <br /></strong><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/22793994_1502000223.8264_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br />Mahalo nui loa, thank you for supporting this vision and purpose to create and share my music rooted in the traditions of my ancestors and inspired by social justice. <br /><br /><br />From my heart to your heart in the highest vibration of Aloha, I extend my love to all of  you from the purest part of my soul, the same part of my being that these songs are born from.  <br /><br />Kū Kia‘i Mauna. <p>The Winnemem Wintu Tribe came out of the sacred spring on Mt. Shasta, in what is now called California.  We lived along the McCloud River until 1945, when the Shasta Dam flooded us out of our homes.  The federal government that displaced us from our homeland now refuses to acknowledge our existence, calling us "unrecognized", however we continue to practice our traditions and protect our sacred places.<br /><br />Your donations will support Phase 1 of creating a cultural center (Tlut), where our spiritual connection to our ancestors can grow and be passed to the younger generations. <img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/5526882_1438826803.8081_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /></p>
