Hello everyone, I never thought I’d be in a position to ask for help like this. My daughter Megan has a beautiful 3-year-old golden retriever named Maverick (Mav). For a while, we encouraged her to have him neutered while he was young, but she was understandably nervous—especially after he had to go through surgery last year for a stomach blockage. Recently, she found the courage to move forward and scheduled the procedure, trusting that it would be the right thing to do.
Unfortunately, things have taken a devastating turn. Maverick’s condition worsened significantly after the surgery. His surgical area became severely swollen, and by morning he was bleeding and discharging. My daughter rushed him to an emergency veterinary hospital, and after hours of waiting, he was finally seen and diagnosed with a severe infection. The initial antibiotics were not working. Maverick now requires hospitalization, IV medications, and additional surgery to remove infected and damaged tissue. This is something we never imagined could happen from such a routine procedure, and my daughter is absolutely devastated.
The cost of care is quickly becoming overwhelming between the original surgery, follow-up visits, medications, and now emergency hospitalization and additional surgery. My daughter has done everything she can to manage this on her own, including putting expenses on credit cards, but she cannot do this alone. We’re asking for your help to save Maverick. He is deeply loved and means everything to her. Any support—through a donation or simply sharing this page—would mean more than we can express. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any help you can give. –Mav’s grandpa, Manny.
