<div>I moved out of my parents' home one year ago; they didn't think I would ever be able to. My parents kept me secluded growing up, no way to leave, no driver's license, no phone, nothing in the middle of nowhere. We were homeschooled and had home church services; I barely left the house. I didn't even have friends. I was alone and being abused in horrific ways.

<div>My parents sexually assaulted me as a child, beat me, burned my toys, tortured me, and verbally/emotionally berated me. They allowed others as well to take advantage of and torture me. I wasn't allowed to be seen by real doctors, and my medical needs were never addressed; they never even vaccinated me. I had no one, no friends, nowhere to go. That was meant to be my life; it was God's plan according to my parents. They wanted to keep me at home forever. They only offered to give me shelter and food if I agreed to perform labor for them and follow their strict rules of obedience.

<div>When I came out and started to transition, they threatened me with homelessness as a means to keep me in line with their values. They threatened me to leave, and after I started to have more and more stress-induced seizures and not being allowed to get a medically needed surgery, I did leave. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do, and now I'm riddled with fear and anxiety. Most days it's too hard for me to do much of anything; my depression has crippled me severely.

<div>I also Complex PTSD after all their abuse, alongside many other issues. It is impossible for me to live a normal life at this time in my recovery, and I will be in recovery for a while. I am working hard with my therapist to adjust to the new world I'm in now, but it is difficult and I fear I will lose my apartment and other utilities while I struggle to barely function day to day.
