For everyone like me who is heartbroken over Dolly’s passing yesterday, here is a way to make the world a little more sparkly and spread a little joy, just like she would have wanted. I bring free books to children and adults in the DMV. My only requirement is that there is no fee to attend any event i support in order to make books more accessible for everyone, regardless of income, politics, religion, etc. Dolly knew the education of our children was an essential good. Literature and the ability to read and comprehend is something that all children and their families need. It is essential for our children and society to thrive. Were you that kid at the Scholastic Book Fair who could only buy a pencil or bookmark?? Me too!! Hi, I'm Lucinda Pierce (Luci Hime). I believe that a book can change a life—but only if it gets into the right hands. I’m excited to launch this campaign for my nonprofit, Luci's Mobile Free Library, a registered 501(c)(3).   Our mission is simple: we bring the library to the people who need it. I travel to local schools, shelters, churches, community events… anywhere families might be, and bring my library with a large selection of children and adult books to be given away for FREE! My goal is to ensure equal access to quality and fun books for everyone, regardless of ability to pay. By focusing on equal access, I want to help break down barriers to literacy and ensure that every child and family can access the worlds found inside a book.   We’re also on a mission of sustainability—rescuing pre-loved books from landfills and dusty shelves to give them a second life with families who will cherish them, both locally and internationally.   How Your Donation Moves Us Forward: As a mobile library, our "physical necessities" are unique. Your support directly funds:   The Books: Curating high-quality educational materials for all ages. Most of my books are donations, but I also personally purchase many hard-to-find titles and those that address specific needs (such as domestic violence, emotions, military deployments, etc.) The Setup: Purchasing the physical equipment (shelving, bins, and transport gear) needed to keep our mobile collection safe and organized. The Storage: This is the most pressing issue I have at the moment. As I have a constant flow of books in and out of my library, storage has become an issue. Since October 2025, I estimate we have distributed over 15,000 books in Virginia and Maryland. I’m hoping to keep this trend going, but I need storage space to safely keep the books organized, clean, and dry.   Every dollar helps us turn the page toward a brighter, more literate future.
