<div>In just a few minutes, the Garcia Acevedo family lost their home, belongings, and countless cherished memories to a devastating fire.

<div>On June 7 at approximately 5:00 p.m., a fire destroyed our family's mobile home in Ceres, California. What had been a place of comfort, security, and love was reduced to ashes, leaving Maria Acevedo, Eugenio Garcia, and their children facing an unimaginable loss.

</div>
<div>At the time of the fire, one of my brothers was home alone. Thanks to the quick actions and bravery of neighbors who helped him escape before the flames spread further, he made it out safely. After the fire, he was taken to the hospital for evaluation. Thankfully, he did not suffer any major injuries and is recovering well.
</div>

</div>
<div>While we are incredibly grateful that no lives were lost, the fire destroyed nearly everything our family owned. They lost clothing, furniture, household essentials, important documents, personal belongings, and irreplaceable family memories collected over many years.
</div>

<div>The fire also damaged two family vehicles. One vehicle was completely destroyed and was not covered for fire-related loss. To make matters even more difficult, the family did not have homeowners or renters insurance to help recover from the loss of their home and belongings.

<div>The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
</div>

<div>Our community lost a true treasure on Friday, August 25th. Rick Moreno, passed after a fierce battle with cancer. Rick Moreno was a dancer, musician, painter, art framer, musical director and ARTIST--in the entire sense of the word. He leaves behind a grieving family and an equally saddened cultural community. We are calling upon that community to pull together to give Rick the proper send off in a celebration of life. Your donations will go directly to his family toward his celebration and final end of life expenses. The community celebration of life will take place on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 1pm at the San Jose Woman's Club, 75 S 11th St, San Jose, CA 95112.
