This past week has seen some really incredible donations! You’ve now got us halfway to our goal. We’ve really been amazed by the generosity of everyone who has donated and shared. Every contribution and boost has meant a lot to us and we know it does to Lou. She’s asked that we pass on a message from her: “Firstly, I want to thank everyone that’s donated - I appreciate finances are tough for everyone right now so it means so much that people have generously given what they can and I am extremely grateful. This has taken a huge amount of stress and pressure off, and has allowed me to be able to focus on my son and his recovery without worrying about bills and expenses piling up. Our faith in humanity has been restored because of every single one of you that’s donated, shared and sent messages of support. Due to the accident and my son’s injury and recovery, we were not able to take our scheduled summer holiday trip. Thanks to all of your kind donations, once the costs for all and ongoing treatment have been covered, I am hopeful we will have enough funds to take a break away and spend some quality time together, and make new memories. None of this would be possible without you so on behalf of me and my son, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. - Lou” As an update, we’re expecting to keep the fundraiser open for now to try and get to our goal and help Lou and her son take that well deserved break. Additionally, those who follow our socials may have seen we’re planning some events to raise more money. More details to follow. Keep an eye out for further updates and, as always, we appreciate every share to anyone who wants to support Lou. It would be great if we could push on and achieve our goal!

Lou is the model of what a caring member of the community looks like. She’s worked at the women’s charity Refuge for 9 years, spending her life supporting those in need and always being there for her workmates, too. Sadly, Lou’s son has been in an accident and has a long road to recovery. This will take time and money and is especially difficult given that she’s a single parent. Given all the good work Lou has done for her community - including organising for better conditions at her workplace - we’re asking the community to give back to her. This fundraiser is being organised by the IWW, Lou’s union. All proceeds will go directly to her to help her cover medical and travel costs and so she can spend time with her son without worrying about expenses piling up. Please give generously. If you live in London or Bristol, keep an eye for socials that the union will be organising as a way to raise funds for Lou.
