Linda’s son has been battling chronic necrotizing pancreatitis for years, facing numerous hospital stays, surgeries, and ongoing poor health. Because of his condition, he has not been able to see his child in the UK since the child was three years old. The separation has been incredibly difficult for both father and son, especially as the child’s seventh birthday approaches this September.
This past September, Linda and her son traveled to Richmond, Virginia to VCU hospital for a pancreas removal surgery. Seven and a half hours into what was expected to be a fourteen-hour surgery, it was aborted due to complications. After returning home, his health improved for five months, but now he is experiencing very high triglyceride numbers and has had to be hospitalized in the ICU once again.
The funds raised will help cover travel expenses, room and board while Linda’s son visits his child in the UK. He had to quit his job due to his health, and last December and early January, he was on life support. The journey has been filled with uncertainty and fear, but the hope of reuniting with his child keeps him going. Every donation will help make this reunion possible and bring much-needed relief to their family.
Linda shares, “My son’s health condition is chronic and very severe, and can be life threatening. He fears not only for his health, but wonders day to day if he’ll ever be able to see his son again. It is heartbreaking as his mom to watch him go through this. My son’s fight is my fight. Pancreatitis awareness.”
