As a transgender woman, she's finally reached a point of stability where she can undergo Facial Feminization Surgery on November 10th, 2025. She has overcome so many obstacles, and has faced so much adversity alongside the support of her friends and loved ones.

<div>From facing homelessness to finally being able to purse her Masters degree, her journey has been one of resilience in the face of struggle. While she will be working overtime up until her surgery date, any community assistance during this period will be vital to help her prepare to heal. She works so hard, all while applying to graduate programs, with the long term intent of giving back to her own queer community. Additionally, Elena is currently in the incredibly stressful process of moving apartments throughout the month of September, which only furthers the financial strain. Any financial help over her 2-month long healing period will assist taking the pressure off of her, her partner and her amazing support system.

<div>Hey there! Its Bri! For those of you that don't know me, I am a black non-binary visual artist. I've spent the last 10 years or so really focused on my career and my education. Over the last 4 years I’ve worked as a full time artist living in NY. Last year I also began teaching art to grades K-7; but as the state of the world has changed so has my access to stable financial resources.

If you’ve known me personally for a while, by now you’ve heard talk about my gender affirmation goals and my long term desire for top surgery. I've encountered a lot of roadblocks recently and I’ve had some experiences calling for deep introspection. I’ve been sorting out my values and priorities, and looking to find fulfillment in myself and be happy in my body. Right now one of my major priorities is to make gender affirming surgery happen. I had to cancel T.S back in 2021 just days out due to unexpected health issues. Since then, I’ve experienced numerous career and financial setbacks backs that have prevented me from pursuing gender affirming care.

Famine is ongoing and every member of Mohammeds family is suffering.

His father suffers from gout and needs special foodwhich is not accessable due to the blockade at the moment, which is why his dear father is in a lot of pain.

<div>Mohammeds mother is 56 years old and suffers from several chronic illnesses, including chronic migraines. She also suffers from chronic high bloodpressure and arthritis. She needs medication to treat these illnesses so the constant pain is eased but all these medications are very expensive and they cannot afford them at this moment. Without them she is enduring constant pain at this moment and is at risk due to the high blood pressure.

<div>Mohammeds brother Hazem is 33 years old and also suffers from constant chronic illnesses. he has stomach, joint, and pelvic pain, which need angoing treatment.

Due to this he and the entire family have to rely on canned food that is left, which increases Hazems pain. He also desperatly needs medication which is not affordable for the family at this moment without help.

He has just finished university and was waiting start a job to save some money to support their father and build a future for himself and his family. But the war ended these dreams, and he has not found a job yet. He also lost his right eye he has a prosthetic eye thst urgently needs to be replaced in high risk of infection, however it is not possible at this moment due to the intense costs of it at every hospital being bombed.

<div>Wafaa graduated from Palestine University with a degree in Public Relations and got married before the war. She and her husband had a beautiful home and and build a life for themselves and God blessed them with a beautiful baby boy named Jude. the IOF bombed their home and took all their livelyhood from them. They now live in tents and their son is growing up without a home in between of rubble. Jude of course needs diapers and formula and they cannot provide healthy and nutritious food for their child, nor can they provide clothes because they are too expensive.

<div>“The last scene stuck.” On the 7th of October, Saturday, we were all preparing to film the final scene of an animated film dealing with the issues of girls with hearing disabilities during the workshop. Meet Haneen Muhammad Koraz, Trainer and maker of stop motion cartoon films. She has worked in the field of visual arts since 2012 at the Theater Days Foundation. She participated in many local and international festivals and won many artistic awards for producing cartoon films with different topics. She won third place in the Partners Short Film Competition for producing a film for the Gaza Municipality and third place in the One Minute Film Competition with the Sawa Foundation. She participated in the International Animated Cinema Festival, In Kairouan - Tunisia. She recently received the Al-Taawoun Award for Excellence in the Cultural Sector 2022, “One Day We Will Be,” for producing “Studio Without Voices” for making cartoon films. In addition, she received grants for projects and initiatives from institutions inside and outside Palestine that support the idea of ​​making hand-made cartoon films.

<div>From Haneen- I deeply believe that every person has the right to express himself freely, and that art, making and learning cartoon films is one of the means of free expression, audio-visually, for all segments of society. <strong>I tried to change the reality, even if just a little, for the children and women in the tents I have conducted workshops specifically for children.</strong> Children and women draw, color, discuss, play, learn using the photography program, photograph scenes, write stories that express their suffering and reality, draw cartoon characters, and record their voices on film. They have created many cartoon films. There is a film called “Queens” that talks about the suffering of children in the tent, how they live, and how they overcome the problems of water and fire, bringing firewood and bread, and not playing. The women made a film called “Red Autumn,” which talks about how the women left their homes, belongings, and rooms and migrated to other regions for fear of war, and how they lost their valuables and memories during the period of displacement.

As a Tatar, I belong to a minority group with a distinct cultural and historical identity, separate from ethnic Russians. We are an indigenous Turkic people with our own language, traditions, and religion. Unfortunately, in Russia, Tatars have faced centuries of cultural suppression and discrimination. Under both Russian imperial and Soviet rule, our rights and identities have been marginalized. This oppression is one of the key reasons I sought asylum in the U.S. — a place where I could live freely and safely.

<div>When I arrived in the U.S., I applied for political asylum. However, my case has been stuck in the system since 2015. Over the years, immigration processes have become more difficult, especially for asylum seekers like me. For 10 years, I have not been able to leave the U.S. or see my family. I haven’t seen my mother since 2018, and her visa has expired, making it almost impossible for her to visit me now. The complicated visa process, combined with the high costs, means that we are separated by more than just distance — we’re also up against bureaucratic walls.

<div>On November 21st, my son-in-law, Jan, was involved in a serious bicycle accident, resulting in a traumatic brain injury. After being transferred to a trauma center, he underwent an emergency craniotomy to repair a brain bleed and fractured skull. Jan is now recovering at home, but he will be unable to work for an extended period of time. My daughter has taken a leave of absence from her job to care for him, as he cannot be left alone. Jan has suffered two seizures and is currently on anti-seizure medication, requiring constant supervision.

Nous souffrons de ne pas avoir salle de bain ou même une douche. Nous ne pouvons nous doucher qu'une fois par mois en utilisant un seau par manque d'eau. L'eau est froide en hiver parce que il n'y a ni électricité ni gaz pour chauffer l'eau. Chaque matin, ma femme lave les vêtements de nos enfants à l'eau froide et accroche les vêtements à l'air libre. S'il y a de la nourriture, elle est cuite sur du bois de chauffage, ce qui est complètement malsain et a mauvais goût à cause du mauvais laissée par le bois de chauffage.</span>

<div>'It is the 8th time my family and I have been displaced since October 7th. Gaza has been cut into pieces and my entire family has been divided up as a result of it. One flung here, the other flung there, broken up by the red line that divides the north and the south. It feels like we are world’s apart and just towing the line between life and death. I miss them so much, I miss my big, close-knit family. Now my brother and I are the only ones bearing the family name. My name is Arwa, I am a 22 year old girl from Gaza living with just my 16 year old brother, Ibrahim. We were separated from the rest of our family when the Israeli army began their land invasion of the north. My family and I were so scared! Bombs were flying all around us as bullets chased us down, and as much as it pained us to leave we had to flee. The journey to the south was very painful, we walked for days and lost some family members along the way. We had a lack of food and water, and on top of that we had to endure many attacks from bombs, white phosphorus, and bullets that led to further separation from the family I had left! Now it is just my brother and I in Rafah. There is no drinking water or food, any food that is available comes with a steep price. To get things here in Gaza you’ll either pay with a large fee or your life. Every day, early in the morning, my teenage brother gets up to try and provide for us, but everyday he comes back empty handed because there is nothing left in Gaza. He is supposed to be in high school but now he risks his life to go out just to find something for us to drink!. It is so cold here, we sleep on the ground that is wet with sewage water and we have no closed toe shoes or winter jackets to keep us warm. We go to sleep with fear in our bellies to mask our hunger. It is painful to grieve and to watch my brother grieve. I was studying business administration, and I was so happy to be furthering my education and fufilling my passion. It was my dream back then, now my dream is to see me and my brother live. My dream is to be safe. The only option for us now is to evacuate Gaza, and I have hope that we can be helped, that we can be saved. In these dark times, I place my hope in God and you. I ask that you please consider me and Ibrahim, please help us evacuate Gaza and live. Thank you so so much.”

<div>First of all , I am writhing this about my family with a heavy heart as my family in Gaza is enduring unimaginable hardships. The war has left them in a desperate situation—devoid of food, fuel, shelter, and essential medical care. Survival is a daily struggle, and the threat of diseases looms large.

<div>In the face of such adversity, I've taken the decision to help them leave Gaza for a chance at a safer and healthier life. However, the financial burdens are overwhelming, especially considering the steep costs, such as $4000 per person, to cross the border from Egypt.

<div>I am raising funds to support my family, who are in Gaza. As many of you - our friends, family, and wider community - have contacted to ask where to donate and how you can be of help, I decided to start this fundraiser.

<div>In the midst of the harrowing conflict in Gaza, my family has endured profound tragedies. Our once-beloved home in the north lies in ruins, a casualty of the war. The devastation extends further, with my sister Heba's residence reduced to rubble and my brother Walid's home completely obliterated. Amidst the chaos, Amal and her family find themselves displaced, desperately seeking shelter in a volatile environment.

<div>Adding to the anguish, my youngest sister Farah, who recently returned from the USA after participating in a student exchange program in architectural engineering, now faces a grim reality

<div>Our goal with this donation initiative is to raise €30,000 to help my brother and sisters Walid, Farah, Marwa , Heba and Hala with her 4 kids , who already possess passports and are prepared to embark on a journey towards a more secure future.

<div>Crossing the border to Egypt presents an additional financial challenge, as each person is required to pay up to $4000. This significant cost adds to the financial burden faced by my family seeking safety and stability during these difficult times.

<div>It's time to make Riis Beach more accessible! We are seeking to fundraise $7,000 to purchase and store a community beach wheelchair and an accessibility mat walkway for the fast arriving beach 2024 summer season.
</div>

<div>There's nowhere in the world like Riis. What a dream to have a place where queer people from all over the world and of every age and gender can luxuriate together under the sun and in the sea. The beach isn't an accessible place for all bodies, though. Sand can be a challenging surface to walk on and even more difficult for those who use wheelchairs, walkers, and canes which are designed for hard surfaces. An accessibility mat will create a harder surface for all beachgoers to walk and roll on, which is easier for folks with mobility devices. A beach wheelchair designed for use on sand can make sure that everyone can get to their spot on our community beach.

<div>Currently, people with mobility issues are forced to rely on strangers to help them cross the long distance between the boardwalk and the beach. People who depend on wheelchairs to move have needed to ask strangers to carry them across the sand. Some of our elders who have been visiting Riis for 40 years have had to stop coming because walking on the sand has become too difficult and painful as they age. How could this be a utopia if we can’t invite everyone along? How can the most beautiful place in New York City have an ableist constraint? How could our heart beat for a place that we one day may not feel welcomed depending on our disabilities?

<div>So let’s all do something about it! Let’s take steps towards building the world we want to live in. Utopia is a never ending quest but this is a concrete step we can take NOW to build deeper systems of interdependent community support. Let’s build a queer beach where more of our community can join in and share the bliss of the ocean, the sand, and the people.
