What Laurie cares about

I am a caretaker to my fiance who had a stroke and also has cirrhosis of the liver. We are going into testing for his liver transplant soon.

My fiancé recently had gallbladder surgery, and I am taking four days off work without pay to care for them during their recovery. This unexpected situation has put a strain on our finances, as I am the primary source of income for our household. While my fiancé focuses on healing, I want to make sure our home remains stable and our essential needs are met. The funds raised will help me cover our bills and property tax during this time when I am unable to work. Every little bit will go directly toward keeping us afloat while we navigate these challenges. Your support will help relieve some of the stress and allow me to focus on caring for my fiancé without worrying about falling behind on important payments. Thank you so much to everyone who donates and shares our story. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to us, and we are deeply grateful for any help you can provide.

We need help while my fiancée awaits his gallbladder surgery. I am his caregiver so when he's in the hospital I do not get paid.

My fiancé Jeff has been in the hospital in Omaha for the past three days with dangerously high ammonia levels caused by cirrhosis of the liver. Earlier this year, in March 2024, Jeff suffered a stroke that left him with some cognitive challenges, but we are grateful every day that he survived. We truly believe that God saved him during his time in the ICU, and our faith has only grown stronger since then. We attend church regularly and lean on our community and each other for support, but right now, we are facing a situation that is overwhelming for us alone. As Jeff’s caretaker, I have had to stop working to be by his side, which means we have lost our main source of income. This has put us behind on our property taxes, and the amount we owe keeps increasing each week. On top of that, I need to keep our car insured in case Jeff is approved for a liver transplant and we need to travel at a moment’s notice. The financial strain is growing, and it’s hard not to feel scared about what the future holds. We are reaching out for help because we want to keep our home and make sure Jeff gets the care he needs. If you are able to give, your support would mean the world to us. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing our story. Every bit of help brings us closer to stability and hope for Jeff’s recovery.
