<div>It is with absolute heartbreak that we announce the sudden passing of our friend, Roy Somers. Roy was many things to many people: a son, a brother, a friend, an advocate for kids, a coach, a fellow lifter.... but most importantly - a husband and a dad. Roy spent his life helping others, but above all, lived for his wife Tara, his daughters Lorelei and Gwendolyn, and his two "puppies" Chilli and Max. He was an absolute "girl dad", and you'd frequently see him at cheer practice, rugby, baseball and gymnastics.

<div>My family has known Roy for the last 13 years. He started as just a soccer coach for our daughter, and that quickly turned into a friendship and lifting partner. Roy lifted with Atlantic City Barbell for over a decade, and was like family. Traveling to competitions, showing up for other team members, keeping his teammates safe.... Roy did it all. And always with a smile and a (super loud) laugh. He volunteered every year at the Special Olympics Powerlifting events... this year even bringing his daughter Lorelei to volunteer as well. He was passionate about helping others... and we will feel his loss tremendously in the world of powerlifting.

<div>In a world that is unapologetic, Anna Porter was absolutely one of the most good-natured human beings that has ever lived. And everyone who ever crossed her path knew this. She was a companion to everyone. She had an indescribable light that I have never seen in anyone else. Most importantly, she was a devoted mother and wife.

<div>At this time her friends and family are seeking donations for  Anna’s children to provide services and support. Her beautiful sons tragically have lost both their parents in just a short time. It takes a village, so we are asking our community the opportunity for her family continue to chase sunsets.

<div>In the words of her loving sister : April 2nd, 10:48 am my little sister passed on. I want to tell you some things about her. Anna was sweet, artistic and loved to sew. Always kind, a champion of the underdog. She loved to collect people and always was bringing home random strangers from phish lot or marine park for a plate of food. She took too many pictures of sunsets, always with a hashtag of #chasingsunsets . She wasn’t jaded like me: She listened, gave people the benefit of the doubt and believed in having that PMA. Her cheerfulness and positivity annoyed me at times, but she was a survivor who had earned the right to see the bright side of things. Anna was way more than what happened to her.

<div>Michael Stevens is a crucial member of the recovery community as well as our team at Seacrest Recovery Center. Over the last few years, Mike has struggled with various health conditions that have altered his quality of life. Currently, Mike struggles with Type 1 Diabetes, Kidney Failure, and Cancer. Most recently, Mike underwent a medical procedure in early August to remove his cancer. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a standard surgery has left Mike struggling with mobility issues and long-lasting complications in addition to his already existing conditions. Due to Mike’s traumatic surgery, his ability to maintain his usual responsibilities in both work and his personal life have been negatively impacted. In addition, his ability to engage in his favorite hobbies such as driving his Subaru and walking his dog, Champ, has been significantly reduced.

<div>Mike has been in recovery from drugs and alcohol for almost 8 years. Mike has dedicated close to the last 7 years of his life to giving back to others in the community by working in an outpatient treatment setting as the Director of Operations. Mike has spent countless hours working with other substance users who have the desire and hope to live a sober lifestyle. In addition to his involvement in the community, Mike is a son, brother, and an incredible and loving Uncle to his niece and nephew, Harper and Cameron. Regardless of his health conditions, Mike has been able to remain an extremely motivated individual who does not give up easily. Through everything he has gone through, Mike continues to always think of others first and make sure everyone around him is okay. That is the kind of person he is and has always been. Mike continues to stay positive as he puts his best foot forward navigating his health. All donations will be used to assist Mike in recovering from his health conditions and aid in any stress he may experience during this difficult time.
