My brother, who recently retired from the Air Force, suffered a devastating accident two weeks ago when he fell off a treadmill and sustained brain damage. This sudden tragedy has left my sister and me heartbroken, and we are struggling to find a way to be with him during his final moments. Our brother has always been a source of strength and support for our family, and it is incredibly difficult to face the possibility of saying goodbye without being by his side. Unfortunately, my sister and I do not have the means to cover the costs of traveling to see him. We are in need of help to pay for room, board, and transportation so we can be with our brother and support each other as a family. My brother was my big brother, my best friend, and the only person outside of the streets who never judged me. Even though he was where he was in life, he always looked at me as his baby sister. I'm the youngest, Tina is the middle one, and my brother always made sure we felt loved. We used to swing on trees together—I'm a tomboy, and I miss him so much. I just want him here, but unfortunately, flesh says otherwise. In spirit, I have faith that he can come alive, but after speaking with my nurse yesterday, she explained that if there's no brain activity, there's nothing else that can be done. Even though doubt is put in my face, I still have faith as big as a mustard seed. All we want to do is come and see my brother, to say goodbye, to talk to him face-to-face, even though I talk to him every day through his pictures. All I'm trying to do is make transportation possible so me and my sister can get up there and say goodbye to our brother properly. Our mother is covered by wounded warriors, but me and my sister are not. The funds will help cover gas money, hotel fees, rental costs, or even help with a memorial service here in Atlanta.
