Dear friends and family, I am reaching out because I’ve found myself in a desperate financial situation after a series of setbacks that were completely beyond my control. As a self-employed artist, I rely on my van to transport painting supplies for my paint &amp; sip events. Unfortunately, my van developed serious trouble with the radiator and thermostat, which forced me to take out a loan from my credit union in Portland just to cover the repairs. After getting it fixed, the same issue happened again, and I managed to keep it running by stopping to fill the radiator with water every few miles. Eventually, it broke down for good, and the repair estimate was nearly $7,000. I had no choice but to trade it in for a newer van, which meant another loan. Things seemed to be improving until a parking mishap in a construction area destroyed the radiator on my new van, leading to yet another loan. With my income being pretty much fixed, I had to take out a couple of credit cards just to make ends meet.

 The final straw came when my landlord raised our security deposit by $2,000. After 14 years in my apartment, my deposit was quite low, but now I’m unable to cover the increase due to my credit rating and the mounting debt from the van troubles. I checked with the local rental assistance group, and unfortunately, the landlord is legally allowed to do this for month-to-month renters. Now, I am at risk of eviction and losing the home I’ve worked so hard to maintain. Any help at all would be deeply appreciated. Your support will go directly toward paying the increased security deposit so I can stay in my apartment, and any extra will help ease the burden of my loans. <div>On April 28, Bill had a second sudden-death arrhythmia during a scheduled stress test. He became “pulseless” for 1.5 minutes and was in the hospital for several days before he was released. Since then, he has shown signs of slowing down from his usual driven and energetic self.

<div>Tuesday morning (May 12), his doctors called and told him to come back to the hospital in Portland. During a right cath procedure, he again became "pulseless" in the operating room. His heart just stopped, but they brought him back.
</div>

</div>
<div>Bill has been admitted for full-time care in the cardiac ICU at Providence St. Vincent in Portland. He has been moved to Stage 3 for a heart transplant.
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>A transplant is now urgent and imminent.</strong> He will be at Providence St. Vincent until he gets a new heart — which could be any time or months.
</div>

Standing with Bill as He Awaits a New Heart

<div>Kalani has been my sidekick for 6 years. She is who I come home to every day. It’s just her and me. On Saturday, July 26, I noticed a large lump on her lower stomach. I called the vet first thing Monday morning. They got her in Thursday morning. At the exam, they found that she had a large mammary tumor. We scheduled her for surgery first thing Monday morning. I took her in for surgery, and in the exam room, the surgeon was encouraged by her exam that she sounded and looked good and all would go well. During the pre-surgery x-rays, it was discovered that the tumor has metastasized to her lungs. Surgery was not done as it wouldn’t have helped, and he was concerned about her doing well under anesthesia. He said she likely has a couple of weeks, a couple of months at best before it starts to interfere with her daily life.

<div>Because of that, I want to make all of those few days we have left the best possible and go on all the adventures she wants. Camping is her favorite as long as it includes lots of swimming!

What should have been a peaceful and productive event, where people exercised their right to voice their concerns, quickly turned into a violation of Dr. Teresa Borrenpohl’s constitutional rights.

Justice for Dr. Teresa Borrenpohl: Fight for the First

Fight For Jack<br /><br />No parent should ever have to hear the phrase ‘’Your child has cancer’’ <br /><br />But here we are...<br /><br />Hi we are the Ruch family. Mom (Alaina ),Dad (Nic) and two super adorable kiddos Jack (4 yrs) and Alice(20 months).<br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/56007410_1618245567337007_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="56007410_1618245567337007_r.jpeg" /><br /><br />Our sweet, outgoing Jack was just  diagnosed with liver cancer just a few days ago. To say the least we are devastated. Just days ago he could play for hours, now can only get out of bed for 15 to 20 minutes at a time. His tumor has caused internal  bleeding as it has burst form the liver capsule. The bleeding has stopped but there is still much pain. There are also suspect spots on his lungs that require further imaging. This will tell us whether the cancer has moved to multiple organs. The treatments hing on this CT scan as well. We do know the plan will entail surgery and multiple rounds of chemotherapy. We just don’t know how aggressive they will have to be. <br /><br /><br />We are starting this fund because we just don’t know exactly what the next few months will hold. There are lot of folks that have reached out to ask how they can help. Well this is a great option. <br /><br /><br />Here is how the funds will be used :<br /><br />&gt;making sure Jack has his needs met ie: activities,crafts , detractions, books,treats...<br /><br />&gt;costs of any treatments that our insurance doesn’t cover<br /><br />&gt;prescription costs <br /><br />&gt;transportation costs for the family<br /><br />&gt;Possible child care extras<br /><br />&gt;Support for when Dad will need to take time off during treatments and surgeries. As he will exhaust his vacation time fast. He can take time off but it is not paid,and he is our bread winner. Mom will be staying home so her income will not be helping. <br /><br />&gt;extra linens as his bedding will need to be changed very often <br /><br />&gt; clothing as he will be losing a bit of weight.<br /><br />&gt;Extra food costs for the family. <br /><br /><br />We have been told to expect to be in and out of the hospital for the greater part of the year.<br /><br />Thank you for your support and we will be posting updates on how he is doing. Fight For Jack

Two days ago Jacob went to the Emergency Room where doctors noticed a large mass on his brain. He was rushed to Doernbecher's Children's Hospital in Portland, Oregon.
(Time out to thank and praise his team of doctors who are doing everything they can!) Where they attempted to remove and biopsy. 
The initial surgery went well but a series of complications developed yesterday...(and again his doctors interviened!).
It was a rough night. But Jacob made it through to another day!

Amidst this tragedy is a global pandemic that has the whole world on lockdown and only one parent is allowed per 24 hour period and accomodations near the hospital are hard to come by.
