<div>              Hi, My name is Derek Young. I am making this go fund me to help a dear friend of mine Sal Lizard. Most people either know him as Santa or The Vampire Santa. Sal suffered from several strokes and lost all forms of income he had. He lost being able to act, go to conventions, and even being able to be Santa every year. He never asked anyone for help during all of that he had his family and wife so he didn't want to ask for anybody else's help. He battled back to being in a good place. Recently he lost his wife Linda and was devastated. Not only had he lost the person who cared for him daily but his Mrs. Clause you might say. He also during this hard economic time had just been hit with another loss of income as she was the only one working in the house. She was an amazing children's nurse at the hospital. His daughter and granddaughter (pictured) moved in with him to help care for him as he needs someone looking after him since his strokes as he still has significant restraints of use of his left side arm and leg. Well since his wife's passing he has been in the hospital 3 times. This most recent time he is showing signs of kidney failure on dialysis, and having major trouble breathing. He is still fighting because it is him who takes his granddaughter on his hover round to her gymnastics, tennis, and ballet classes. Sal would never ask for anyone's help its just who he is. Since I'm in no place myself to help as much as I like I felt this was the best course of action. So I am coming to you on his behalf. Sal has been A real Bearded Santa to kids all over the country for 35 years. He has always had a huge heart and been very giving. I say its time he gets the help he needs. He is real tight on funds and with mounting bills I want to help him get some breathing room so he and his daughter and granddaughter can keep a roof over their head and be able to enjoy Christmas this year. Last year they had just lost Mrs. Clause and Christmas was really gloom. He deserves a good Christmas with no worries this year. So please help make Christmas for Santa. <div>Here we are again. I (Michael) have complicated feelings about doing this again, but Katie, the children, and my therapists all suggest I do….so here we go.

<div>I first and foremost want to thank everyone who helped us two years ago. Just like this time, friends and family provided crucial help and without them we would have been absolutely lost. <span style="font-family:'-apple-system-body';">Long story shortened….Katie went to the emergency department on July 17th, 2020 for what we now know as “Long Covid” symptoms that had been escalating. Upon arriving, initial testing indicated she was in kidney and liver failure. The next hundred days were a blur of dialysis, repeated intubations and prolonged heavy sedation, pulmonary hemorrhages, and a tour of four different facilities. </span>

<div>Nearly four months later, she left the hospital…..unable to walk and dependent on care, and had refuge at her family home in Vincennes. The children went with her, as school was still remote. I (Michael) remained at our Indianapolis home and spilt my weeks between working full time and driving south to be with Katie and the boys.

<div>After another four months of care from visiting OT and PT and her wonderful parents, she came home and returned to work! At this point I changed my schedule to nights so that when the kids were out of school I would be home.

<div>Things went well for more than a year. We had many good times, and everything was falling into place again. Until mid July of this year, 2022. Katie began noticing a persistent abdominal cramp, and though her 2020 nightmare left her never wanting to be hospitalized again, her pain demanded attention.

<div>July 17th 2022……exactly two years to the day of her last life changing medical event; she was admitted to Community again. Two days later, her colon ruptured. An emergency resection was performed…which failed a few days later. Several more emergency surgeries were performed, and she eventually transferred to St. Vincent, and then to Seton Specialty Hospital, which is a long term acute care facility.

<div>We are still in the early stages of recovery from this episode, but Katie’s <span style="font-family:'-apple-system-body';">life is significantly more affected this time, as far as needs and level of care. Thankfully, the tracheotomy that was performed to avoid damage from long-term intubation has begun to be reversed, she no longer requires supplemental oxygen, and she can communicate verbally, which was not an option for around three months! Currently, she has a small “button” that she calls her PTT (Push To Talk) button on her neck. Eventually that will no longer be present. </span><br />

<div><span style="font-family:'-apple-system-body';">She will require more surgery to return her GI system back to “factory settings” once her colon has completely healed and she is a little farther along in her healing.</span>

<div>Katies short-term disability ran out in late September, and are struggling with balancing our expenses against a 60% loss of family income. 
</div>

<div>We had been planning to move before the hot real estate market conditions began last winter/spring….and I believe that perhaps it has cooled off enough to begin searching again. Katie is not currently walking, hopefully upcoming intensive PT will help with that, but we need a ground floor home to rent that will allow Katie to get around easily so that she can participate in activities of daily life. Also, Katie would very much like the property to be appropriate and welcoming to a dog…we would like to adopt one soon to help with Katie’s recovery from not only this illness, but previous one as well. Some damage isn’t visible, and the multiple extended periods of deep sedation definitely left some scars.

<div>I am working full time, any time I am not there I am with with Katie+Kids. We understand that money seems like it gets less and less every week, and we truly appreciate your willingness to share a bit with us. This entire situation has been a intensely stressful and challenging experience, and the realization that even by budgeting to the dollar it was not going to work added an entirely new dimension of depression and panic.

<div><span style="font-family:'-apple-system-body';">We need financial assistance to move to a home more conducive and accommodating to Katie’s recovery, and to stay current with  regular bills and utilities. We have made it the past couple of months with help from our closest family, but that is an incredible burden and is not sustainable. Katie is quickly nearing another crossroad, and we want to do whatever possible to keep her from becoming a long term nursing home resident.</span><br />

Family Expenses for Katie Graham’s Recovery

<div>The beautiful woman you see above is My 34 year old Wife Kayla. She was diagnosed with breast cancer just a little over a year ago. She has had a double mastectomy. The doctor’s thought they got it all, but they didn’t. It has now spread to stage 4. And was also diagnosed with severe arthritis. We just had our first baby 4 months prior to her diagnoses. We are in desperate need to get her to Texas to see a doctor who I truly believe can save her life. But it will be very expensive and insurance won’t cover it. The Doctor I am speaking of is Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski. The government has been trying to shut him down since the 80’s because he says he has a cure for cancer. Which I truly believe he does. Dr. Burzynski is not allowed to treat people with his cure outside the state of Texas. I beg you to please take the time and check out this Documentary- Burzynski: Cancer Cure Cover Up.  And decide for yourself.  The Doctor has told us that if the Chemotherapy treatment that she is on now does not work then she would have about 3 MONTHS to LIVE!! My Kids and I just can’t accept that! Please if you can, please help save her precious life. I am begging please help give her a chance. I don’t want to have to have this go fund me for her funeral. Please help Save my Children’s Mother and My Wife

Anyone who met her knew she lit up a room the second she walked in. She was married to the love of her life and soulmate, Gene Piotrowsky. I, myself, work with Gene at Dillard's department store.  For those who didn't personally know Kim, she is most famous for her role in "Crybaby" as Mona 'Hatchet Face' Malnorowski. She costarred beside Johnny Depp in "Crybaby." What many people don't know is Kim was accomplished in so many other feats as well. She flourished in theater and passed the BAR to become an attorney in multiple states. Much of this came tumbling down when Hurricane Katrina hit. Kim and Gene were living in New Orleans at the time and unfortunately lost everything in the hurricane. They actually had to swim out of their home! As one could imagine, this took a toll on both Kim and Gene mentally and physically. They lost all things dear to them and had to rebuild their life together from square one. Shortly after the tragedy, they relocated to Mississippi and then eventually to Naples, Florida. Since the hurricane, Kim became an accomplished author with her dear husband Gene by her side and publishing books of his own. <br />I am at a loss for words as to what Gene is currently feeling. The last thing on his mind should be money. Everyone who came in contact with Kim couldn't help but smile. Please help pass this optimism on in Kim's legacy. Anything will help! Gene would not ask for this on his own, but for Gene, and for Kim, this is the least we could all do. Gene is so appreciative of all of the love and well wishes he is receiving. Hopefully, this will take some added stress off of him. All funds donated will go towards taking some financial stress from Gene. Could you imagine how it'd feel to lose your one true love and soulmate?
