I am currently on the liver transplant list and have been working with the team at Anschutz in Colorado. After completing all the necessary steps, I was told that my anatomy was too dangerous for the procedures they perform there. As a result, I am now being referred to four other facilities for further evaluation. This means I will need to travel for a 3-5 day evaluation at each facility, and if accepted, I may need to stay for a month at a medical facility with a caregiver. I am suffering from fatty liver disease, which has led to cirrhosis and is causing my liver to shut down. This has affected every part of my body and made daily life extremely challenging. The process of seeking a transplant has been overwhelming, and the costs associated with travel, lodging, food, copays, and unexpected expenses are more than I can manage alone. Flights, meals, motels, and support for my caregiver are all necessary as I navigate this difficult journey. I hate asking for help, but I feel at a loss and don't know what else to do at this point in my life. If you can help in any way, it would be greatly appreciated.
