<div> From Facing 8 Years in Jail… to Freedom — but I Came Home to Heartbreak

<div>I never thought I’d be writing this, but I need help.
</div>

<div>For 10 years, I ran from my past. I made mistakes — some trouble with paraphernalia charges — but for the last 2 years, I had stayed clean. My only problem was not going to court, and that led to 16 Failure to Appear (FTA) charges.
</div>

</div>
<div>This year, I got arrested for one of those old FTAs. My lawyer told me I could be looking at 8 years in jail.
</div>
<div>On Monday, the judge refused to release me on OR (own recognizance). On Thursday, my lawyer said the DA would agree to it — but the judge still said no, and gave me 30 days in jail for everything.

<div>I cried in my cell thinking my life was over. Then, 45 minutes later, a sheriff came to my cell and said:

<div>&gt; “Roll up — you’re going home.”
</div>

</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I was free. But freedom didn’t feel the way I dreamed it would.
</div>

</div>
<div>While I was in jail, I left my dogs and my car with someone I trusted. When I got out, I learned that my dogs had been mistreated, and everything I owned had been stolen.
</div>

</div>
<div>Now, I’m starting over from zero.
</div>
<div>I’m trying to:

<div>Get my dogs the vet care they need
</div>
<div>Replace what was stolen
</div>
<div>Get back on my feet
</div>
