<div>On May 10th, we lost a special member of our tightly woven community. Todd Prada of Provincetown, MA unexpectedly passed away, leaving behind his wife, Grace, and his sons Tyler (27) and Cameron (3). The Todd we knew and cherish in our hearts provided for his family, laughed often, loved his wife and children, danced with joy, was loyal to his friends, and always strove to be the best father he could be. There is nothing that can replace him, but we can do our best to fill the loss with loving support for his family. Over the many years of our working next to each other, I have seen Chef David and his business partner, Silvan, bust their asses to make Stable one of the finest dining establishments on H ST and in all of NE. Like many restaurants, they have had to fight the pandemic, rising crime, ever changing DC restaurant regulations and they have done so by basically living at their restaurant and producing a consistently amazing product. They are also two of the friendliest dudes you could ever meet.

<div>Unfortunately, Chef David has been beset by two life-altering events: Being hit by a car while on his bicycle on H St NE which hospitalized him for weeks and has left him with chronic pain in his ankle and, most recently, getting car jacked at gun point at the gas station near 15th and Maryland NE. Chef David was physically unharmed, but the car was stolen and has not been recovered.

In January, during my maternity leave, I started working on creating <a href="http://www.macovidvaccines.com">www.macovidvaccines.com</a>. My mother-in-law was having trouble booking an appointment for her vaccine, and then had the same trouble when she was trying to get her father vaccinated. I kept hearing the same frustrations over and over - from family, from friends, and on the news. The sign-up process was too confusing, too disjointed. There must be a better way!<br /><br />On February 5th I publicized this website, which gathers vaccination appointment availability for sites all across Massachusetts. The response was more than I could have imagined. Clearly this website is filling a serious void needed for the residents of the Commonwealth.<br /><br />I'm stealing hours to work on this while my children sleep and am paying for the website hosting out of pocket. Navajo & Hopi Families COVID-19 Relief Fund

Mauricio Fuentes, husband and father of two, was murdered yesterday. Mauricio was a stalwart custodian of our neighborhood, and worked tirelessly for its improvement.<br /><br />We will all feel Mauricio's death, but none more than his loving wife and two beautiful children. This family has been forever changed and now faces the daunting reality of a future deprived of their patriarch and sole provider.<br /><br />There is nothing we as a community can do to lessen their grief, however we can band together to mitigate the terrible financial strain that this horrible event has caused. Our friend's family will soon face funeral costs, living expenses, and the eventual demands for college and retirement. All of this without Mauricio.<br /><br />We can help this family. Even a small gift will be inestimably appreciated and will go directly and completely to this family in their time of tremendous need. We can't bring Mauricio back, but we can rally as a community around those he loved. Unfortunately the family  that would do anything for anyone has hit a rough patch. Their wheelchair van that they use as a daily driver and as transportation for their middle son Kevin.
