My name is Keto Green-Calvin Rainey, and I’m a 36-year-old mixed-media contemporary artist from Detroit, Michigan. For over 10 years, I’ve created artwork from abandoned and found objects—turning discarded materials into pieces about healing, survival, and transformation. My life changed after my father went missing on December 26, 2013, and then nine months later, my youngest brother passed away by suicide. Since those losses, I’ve struggled with homelessness, instability, injuries, and surviving without support. I’ve endured a fractured neck, a ruptured Achilles tendon, and long periods without basic necessities like food, clean clothes, or a safe place to sleep and care for myself.
Despite everything, I never stopped creating art or believing that my story could help others. I’m seeking support to secure stable housing, transportation, and a safe creative space so I can rebuild my life, continue my artwork, and eventually mentor and inspire people facing similar hardships. Every contribution helps me move toward stability, healing, and the opportunity to give back through my art and voice.
