<div><strong>Friends of Spider-Man everywhere: your generosity is astounding!</strong> We are profoundly grateful to every single person who has chipped in to support our Minneapolis superhero, from the Twin Cities and all around the world. <strong>As we bring this fundraiser to a close, we want to offer an update for all of you.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li><strong>WHO WE ARE:</strong> As the press has already figured out, “your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man” is none other than the valiant <strong>William Nicholas Love</strong>. His fiancée <strong>Keyssy Figueroa</strong> is the beneficiary of this fundraiser <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-the-minnesota-spiderman-recover" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">and another</a>. <strong>Ash Chudgar</strong> (that’s me) is just a guy from Minneapolis who was inspired by Spider-Man’s actions and wanted to support him.
</li>
<li><strong>NEED IS MET!</strong> Keyssy and I started our fundraisers with very modest goals. But as people donated more and more, GoFundMe raised the funding goal automatically. As of today, we’ve disabled that feature. <strong>We ask for no further donations.</strong>
</li>
<li><strong>THE RISKS HE TOOK.</strong> Our Spider-Man took real risks to combat hate in Minnesota, with his family’s full support. Sadly, the sudden spotlight has made him and his family <strong>a target of racists everywhere</strong>. Your prayers for their safety are welcome.
</li>
<li><strong>NO LEGAL FEES.</strong> Wonderfully, <strong>Spider-Man is being represented on a pro bono basis</strong>. No funds will go toward legal fees related to Spider-Man’s actions on August 22. The police charged Spider-Man with assault, and GoFundMe’s terms specify that “funds raised on the platform cannot be used to cover legal fees for an individual who has been charged with a violent crime.”
</li>
<li><strong>WHERE YOUR MONEY WILL GO.</strong> Instead of paying for legal fees, your gifts will help Spider-Man pay for other needs such as <strong>medical treatment</strong>, helping <strong>secure his and his family’s safety</strong>, and funding his ongoing work to <strong>entertain, inspire, and organize</strong> local community efforts to combat hatred in all its forms.
</li>
<li><strong>REFUNDS AVAILABLE.</strong> If you’d like to request a full refund in light of this update, <strong>just <a href="https://support.gofundme.com/hc/en-us/articles/204150420-Request-a-refund" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">contact GoFundMe support directly</a> by September 10</strong>. After that, your gifts will be released to Spider-Man.
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Thank you again for your solidarity, your generosity, and most of all for your joy!</strong> We in Minneapolis are are deeply grateful that you and thousands of others around the world chipped in to support “our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.”

<div>For most of my life, I've been a storyteller. As an award-winning writer, director, producer, and working actor, I've always believed that stories have the power to inspire, transport, and remind us why we fell in love with TV and movies in the first place. My love of science fiction, fantasy, and horror has fueled my creativity and led me to embark on the most ambitious project of my career: a one-hour pilot episode for an original anthology series (in the spirit of "Black Mirror") called “Book of Secrets.” This project is a blend of classic cinematic storytelling and the incredible possibilities offered by emerging technology. Every frame, character, environment, and scene has been carefully crafted to create a proof-of-concept worthy of sharing with studios, producers, investors, and streaming platforms.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Over the past year, I have poured my heart and soul into bringing this vision to life. I've invested countless hours and a significant amount of my own resources, but like many independent filmmakers, I've reached the point where passion alone isn't enough. To finish the pilot episode, I need help covering essential costs: cast, production, post-production, marketing, and promotion. Your contribution will help fund professional visual effects and finishing touches, music, sound design, and final audio mix, voice performances and post-production, editing and color correction, festival submissions and industry presentations, as well as marketing materials and promotional assets.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you've ever supported independent filmmaking, or if you've ever dreamed of seeing an original story become something bigger, I'd be honored to have you become part of this journey. No contribution is too small. Every donation, every share, and every word of encouragement helps move this project one step closer to becoming a reality. From the bottom of my heart... With gratitude, Jeff Rector Writer • Director • Producer President, Tarzana International Film Festival

Help Finish Book of Secrets Anthology Pilot

<div>Hello, I’m Sturgis Warner, writer and performer of <strong>"Fishing for Alaska"</strong>, a play scheduled for performances in New York City this October.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>When I was in my forties, I directed a play about two brothers who ran away from suburbia to start all over again in the wilds of Alaska. I was so taken with the story and the descriptions of Alaskan waters, wilderness, and the fishing communities that I was compelled to find a summer job there and REALLY experience Alaska for myself. Also, I knew time was running out. I wasn’t going to attempt this in my fifties.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>"Fishing for Alaska" follows my entry into the thick of Alaska's commercial fishing world. Over two summers, three years apart, I worked as a deckhand on fishing boats with unforgettable characters, heart-stopping dangers and a closeup view of the power of Alaska herself. It's an epic tale of a New York City theater guy, who is taken in and accepted by a very different community, a bridge too rarely found in the cultural wars and political polarization of today. I was surprised at the strength of brotherhood among fishermen. I formed tight bonds with all my mates. Ensemble is everything on a fishing boat. As it is in theater. As it should be in this country. We believe this story needs to be told <strong>NOW</strong>, and hope that you can lend us your support to make this production happen.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>"Fishing for Alaska" is a co-production between <strong>Fishing for Alaska Productions</strong> and <strong>Twilight Theatre Company</strong>. Director <strong>Michael John Garcés </strong>has directed many productions all around the country and is the current President of SDC, the stage directors and choreographers’ union. <strong>Erica Chamblee Garcés</strong>, an actor / dancer / director / choreographer, is flying in from Los Angeles to be our associate director. <strong>Meghan Healey</strong>, the Chair of the Department of Drama, Theater, and Dance at Queens College is designing the production, and <strong>Lou Moreno</strong> and <strong>Margarett Perry</strong>, both long-time artistic directors, are producing partners.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With your support, "Fishing for Alaska" will be performed <strong>October 9-25, 2026</strong> at <strong>Paradise Factory</strong>, 64 East 4th Street in New York City.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>You can find full information on the Team and the production on our <strong><a href="https://www.fishingforalaskaproductions.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">website</a></strong>.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Producing a play in New York is very expensive - even an intimate, simple-but-elegant, production like ours. Here are some of the major expenses ahead of us:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>· Theater rental
</div>
<div>· Rehearsal space rental
</div>
<div>· Artist fees
</div>
<div>· Designer fees
</div>
<div>· Stage management fees
</div>
<div>· Board operator and backstage crews
</div>
<div>· Front of house crew
</div>
<div>· Load in and strike crews
</div>
<div>· Costumes, scenery, props
</div>
<div>· Publicity
</div>
<div>· Two insurance policies, both required
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our bottom-line budget is <strong>$40,000</strong>. It will probably be more. At this time, we are asking YOU, our GoFundMe supporters, for a total of <strong>$25,000</strong>. Every donation will be cherished! No donation is too small!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We believe in affordable theater for all. While the basic ticket for Fishing for Alaska will be $25, we will also have a <strong>$10 budget ticket</strong>, available to anyone who needs it.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In 2026, this country needs to find new ways to come together again, to better understand our diverse circumstances and worlds. We think that "Fishing for Alaska" is a small step in that direction. The Team and I would be grateful if through your generosity you would take that step with us.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you!
</div>

<div>Hi - my name is Shanna. Nearly 4 years ago Sam (The Electric Viking) started his YouTube channel. Now he is trying to help me survive what the doctors in Australia are calling Stage 4 incurable colorectal cancer, which has spread to other parts of my body.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Incurable doesn't mean I will die from this cancer, but it does mean I have a very tough battle ahead of me to fight it, and to live for more years with Sam and my boys. It also means that to get the best treatment and have the best chance of beating it, I have to get specialised care that is not covered by the Australian medical system.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Your help would be amazing, and even the smallest donation means a huge amount to me (and to Sam, plus my boys; Cal who is 6 and Jack who is 9).

<div>Hi, my name is Joe Wilson and in late 2019, after living in Southern California for 22 years, my wife, Kathy Zaloga and I moved to Albany, NY to help our aging parents. I took a job as a clerk in a butcher shop (which is kind of like bartending with meat) and then a pandemic hit.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I disappeared from social media because after working an 11 hour day, I didn't have the energy to do anything. That trend continued until I didn't have the energy to work.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>After running a gauntlet of doctor appointments, I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that had spread to the liver and lungs. I would be attending Camp Chemo twice a month. At the moment I've gone through five rounds and the cancer is shrinking!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I also learned that I didn't qualify for disability insurance because I had not been employed consecutively for five years.

<div>Hi to all who are kind enough to be reading this. On Sunday, September 3rd 2023, Will Keenan was assaulted from behind with a ligature and suffered severe eye trauma. After extensive surgery he has been permanently disabled with left eye blindness due to large retinal detachment when Will was assaulted - for wearing a mask.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Will was pretty much the only person on the Jersey Cape who consistently wore a certified N95 mask during the whole pandemic, and to this day, because he believes it helped protect his 2 yr old daughter (and only child). This was his sole interest and concern; protecting his daughter. For this, his sight in one eye has been taken.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>For the last 7 years Will has helped many people and families through his non-profit organization, St. Babs Church, that he founded in honor of his mother. Let's give back and help Will now in his time of need!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Will has been saddled with multiple medical bills and the inability to make a living for this time while he recovers and puts his life back together.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Most know Will for his cult movies like Tromeo and Juliet, Terror Firmer, Chop, The Ghastly Love of Johnny X, to name a few. His most prized production is of course his two year old daughter.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for considering a donation for Will, I know he will deeply appreciate any and all help during this time. He is not one to ask for help, he is more comfortable raising money for others which is what he normally spends his time doing, so that is why I am happy to start this page for him. Your kindness and help is appreciated so very much.

<div>Augustine and family just returned home from a very hot and steamy Rome, where he won a silver medal in the hexathlon (!) and fifth place for the International History Bowl in the elementary division. Fifth place in the world!! Competitions were held in historic sites like in the shadow of the Colosseum and St. Peter's Square. (The operative word here is "shade," as temperatures in the Italian capitol soared throughout the Wang-Zhao family's trip.) The whole family is reunited again and recovering from the whirlwind of the last two weeks. They wish to thank you for all your support of Augustine and his passion for history. They couldn't have done it without you.

<div>_____________________________________________________
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Meet Augustine, a very special 9-year-old historian who attends Bishop's Peak Elementary School in San Luis Obispo, California. He has earned the honor to compete at the International History Olympiad in Rome this July, <strong>but his family needs your help to get him there</strong>.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The (remarkable) backstory:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In preschool, Augustine started asking his parents questions about history. Then in first grade, he started reading books about history and has never stopped. Since then, he has read up to 100 history books each year, especially loving the details of historical events, like which <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_weapons_in_the_American_Civil_War" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">weapons soldiers used during the American Civil War</a>, or lesser-known history like the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_War" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Football War</a>, fought between Honduras and El Salvador in 1969.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>All on his own, Augustine set himself up to compete in the California Regional History Bee at USC last March and won for the elementary division.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/73525061_1686939843621457_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Then he went to Washington D.C. in May and came in fourth out of hundreds of other top elementary historians in the country.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/73525061_1686939871524032_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/73525061_168693989854511_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>And because he got that far, he qualifies for the <a href="https://www.historyolympiad.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">International History Olympiad</a> in Rome this July.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/73525061_1686939824465802_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This is <strong>a big deal</strong>, but his family needs help to get him there. Between lots of expenses for medical needs and the stretch of flying Augustine and his dad to Washington D.C. just a month ago, they're not in a position to send him to Rome.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>That's where the community comes in, those of us who live near Augustine, go to school with Augustine, love history, love kids — and love kids who love history!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Augustine and his parents Jack and Yuting have calculated that they need <strong>$10,140.63</strong> (to be exact) <strong>by July 10</strong> to go to Rome for the International History Olympiad. This covers airfare, lodging, dining, local transportation, and tournament registration for Augustine and his parents.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our resident young historian has been studying like crazy to be fighting fit, spending hours every day immersed in books and on Wikipedia. <strong>Please give what you can to support him in his dream of competing in Rome. </strong>(With a name like Augustine, how can you resist?)<strong> </strong>This is the chance of a lifetime, and his friends believe he has the talent and persistence to ultimately declare "veni, vidi, vici!"

Augustine, the International History Olympiad

<div>****Update*****
</div>
<div>Hello everybody,

</div>
<div>On behalf of Ralph and our entire family, thank you so much for your generosity. It has warmed our souls during an incredibly difficult time. Of course we never anticipated so much support for Ralph, but we wanted you to know that we are working with a certified financial advisor to establish a Trust to properly receive the funds and use them for all of the original purposes we described. All funds will be used for Ralph's benefit, as his well-being and safety is our highest priority. Right now we will continue to focus on Ralph's recovery, but in the future we are considering setting up a charity.

</div>
<div>Again, thank you so much for your support.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>***Update on Ralph***
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ralph is currently at home with the family. He can ambulate and communicate. A true miracle considering what he survived.
</div>
<div>Each day is different. He has a long road ahead. However, we are very thankful that he is still here with us. I've been taking the time to read the emails and comments to Ralph. It warms our hearts to see him smile at all the kind words.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you so much for loving Ralph
</div>
<div>----------------
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On Thursday, April 13, 2023, my nephew Ralph P Yarl was on his way to pick up his twin younger brothers from their friend's house a few blocks away from his house. He didn't have his phone. He mistakenly went to the wrong house, one block away from the house where his siblings were. He pulled into the driveway and rang the doorbell. The man in the home opened the door, looked my nephew in the eye, and shot him in the head. My nephew fell to the ground, and the man shot him again. Ralph was then able to get up and run to the neighbor's house, looking for help.
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, he had to run to 3 different homes before someone finally agreed to help him after he was told to lie on the ground with his hands up.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ralph Pual Yarl is a fantastic kid, and I am not just saying this because he is my nephew. He truly is. At school, he is a member of the Technology Student Association and Science Olympia Team. Jazz and competition band. He is a section leader in the marching band; a scholar and one of the top bass clarinet players in Missouri. He recently earned Missouri All-State Band recognition with an honorable mention. He plays multiple instruments in the metropolitan youth orchestra. He is a 2022 Missouri scholar academy alumni. Ralph can often be found with a musical instrument. He loves them all.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Last summer, Ralph attended Missouri Scholar’s Academy, where he got a full college life experience. His goal is to attend Texas A&amp;M to major in chemical Engineering. When asked how he plans to get into this university, he said, “Well, if they have a scholarship for music or academics, I know I can get it.”
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ralph's teacher and friends describe him as “ a kind soul,” “quiet,” “friendly,” “well-mannered,” “always willing to help,” “super smart,” and a “musical genius.”
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ralph was looking forward to graduating high school and finally getting the opportunity to visit West Africa before starting college.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Life looks a lot different right now. Even though he is doing well physically, he has a long road ahead mentally and emotionally. The trauma that he has to endure and survive is unimaginable. He is our miracle. We have heard these types of stories many times, and unfortunately, most black boys are not alive to get another chance.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ralph deserves to have the future that he has dreams about. He deserves to be the light that shows the world that LOVE wins and that humanity is still Good.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>However, he will need a lot of help to get there. Funds from this account will be used for his medical bills and therapy.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Any additional funds will be use for college expenses at Texas A&amp;M, a trip to West Africa, and other expenses.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you
</div>

<div>La RED, previously known as La Red Kat, first known as Cafe R.E.D. is a community space to explore social enterprise in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Seeking to address the root causes of migration and the difficulties of reintegration of the returning migrant. The aim of this transformative space is to help Guatemalans succeed without having to migrate. Creating educational spaces and job opportunities, supporting and promoting the local economy, organic farming, and fair trade goods and food.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>La RED, (Restaurante, Escuela, Despensa de Comercio Justo) is meant to house a Restaurant, a School/Educational Space and a Store for Just Commerce, and it continues to provide a space for community gatherings, small business bazaars, popular education workshops and local cultural events that are all accompanied by the culinary experience that provides quality traditional, and modern fusion meals that compliment their reconnection to Maya roots and extension of the Guatemalan dream.

<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>After twelve years of struggling to keep the doors open, keeping up with competitors, surviving extortion and threats, La RED has managed to keep its kitchen running on the humbly ambitious efforts of two stove tops and one home kitchen refrigerator. However, the kitchen is neither capable of holding or cooking in the bulk needed to keep up with current demands. The people and will to make the most of the space is there, but the adequate supplies have taken years to save up for and acquire alone.

<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>However, with the support of our global community, and your contribution, a new stove and refrigerator can be secured. With the capacity to handle the growing demand, La RED can confidently continue to serve food for its various community enriching events and programs.

Deprived for years of family and friends and the ability to establish oneself professionally, the nightmare does not end upon release. With no money, housing, transportation, health services or insurance, and a criminal record that is rarely cleared despite innocence, the punishment lingers long after innocence has been proven. This is a reality that current client Kevin Strickland could soon be facing.<br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/57540893_1622751067507652_r.jpeg" alt="57540893_1622751067507652_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br />For more than 41 years, Kevin Strickland has been incarcerated for a crime he did not commit!  The state of Missouri has robbed him of his youth, his health, and much of his life’s potential. He has largely lost the use of his legs and now uses a wheelchair. All for a crime he did not commit. All while the real perpetrators—to the extent they were prosecuted by the State—have long since been freed. All while there is overwhelming evidence of his innocence. <br /><br />On May 11, 2021, Mr. Strickland’s attorneys, led by the Midwest Innocence Project, filed a Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus with the Supreme Court of Missouri to discharge Strickland from prison based upon illegal confinement and the record before the court.  Even the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney is requesting Mr. Strickland’s exoneration. <br /><br />As of this writing Missouri Governor Mike Parson has been made aware of Mr. Strickland’s case and the overwhelming evidence of his innocence.  At any time now Governor Parson could commute Mr. Strickland’s sentence or issue a pardon.  <br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/57540893_1622751128329237_r.jpeg" alt="57540893_1622751128329237_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" />L.R. Strickland (left) and Kevin Strickland (right)<br /><br />But what would Mr. Strickland be released from prison to face?  A world that he does not know much about.  Today he is 61 years old but he was a teenager when he went to prison.  His mother is gone as are many other family members.  He has no work history to speak of.  There is no Missouri statute to compensate a person wrongfully convicted of a crime and later found innocent, unless through DNA, and that is not the case here.  Mr. Strickland needs financial support to care for his basic needs upon his release from prison.  Mr. Strickland has suffered an unimaginable atrocity and no one helped him.  Today, he needs your help.<br /><br />We are confident that Mr. Strickland will be released by the end of this year.  We know he will face many hurdles adjusting to life outside of prison and we hope that we can rally together to help make a difference, to help him after the system failed him. <br /><br />Please donate today to help Mr. Strickland establish himself in a home and provide for his basic needs upon his release from prison.  <br /><br />For more information regarding the injustices that Mr. Strickland suffered, please read articles here:<br /><br /><a href="https://www.jacksoncountyprosecutor.com/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=1087" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.jacksoncountyprosecutor.com/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=1087</a><br /><br /><a href="https://www.kansascity.com/news/local/crime/article249595653.html" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.kansascity.com/news/local/crime/article249595653.html</a><br /><br /><a href="https://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article251361643.html" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article251361643.html</a>
