<div>In the evening hours on Thursday 8/15, there was an altercation involving domestic abuse nearby Marcos' home. The four and five year old children in the abusers household came to the Parada residence and asked that they call the police. After doing so, Dayna Parada knew that there was a baby in the house and went to check and see if the baby was in danger. The abuser brought the child outside and Dayna was able to safely relocate the child from any additional harm at which point Marco was now with his wife and the abuser outside of the abusers residency

<div>There were some threatening verbal words relayed to the Dayna and Marco for contacting the police department. Marco tried to de-escalate the situation and the abuser physically lashed out and attacked Marco

<div>Marco was slammed head first into the ground and endured many additional concussive strikes to the head and face while he was unconscious. Marco is in critical condition at the bismarck hospital and is currently sedated and intubated. He suffered multiple head wounds including multiple broken bones in his cheeks, nose and upper jaw.

<div>If you know Marco, you know that he would never intervene in an aggressive manner, he was just trying to look out for the well being of everyone. To anyone reading this I can assure you he would have done the same thing for you, or any stranger for that matter, without hesitation. As cliche as it sounds, he is the type of man that would give the shirt off his back to anyone who asked and he would be smiling and spewing his contagious positivity the entire time.

I am Venezuelan 47 years old, mother of two boys and a great desire to continue living. 14 years ago, I was diagnosed with a rare lung disease called Lymphangioleiomyomatosis, also known as LAM.<br /><br />This disease affects only women, usually of childbearing age and is characterized by an abnormal growth of atypical smooth muscle cells at the pulmonary level, forming cysts, affecting the airways, lymphatics and blood vessels, so that they progressively destroy the healthy lung tissue and remaining tissue loses its function. The course of this condition leads to respiratory failure and death.<br /><br />In my case, the disease is already advanced, so the only way to be alive is to be connected to oxygen concentrators and tanks since I cannot breathe on my own. Currently I am quite decompensated. When I cough I drown in lymphatic fluid, and hospitals here have not accepted me because they cannot help me. It has been very difficult spending days in my house without medical assistance because even the doctor who attended me has left the country.<br /><br />The only option to save my life is a double lung transplant. In my country, Venezuela, there are no lung transplant centers. For that reason, more than 2 years ago I started contact transplant centers in the USA and finally, at Jackson Memorial Hospital (Miami, Florida) accepted evaluate my case. However, despite all the steps I have taken, I have not been able to raise the necessary amount necessary to do so.<br /><br />In my country, there is a strict currency exchange control regulation that did not authorize the exchange of currencies even though it is for a health case. The only way you can enter a waiting list for double lung transplantation is by guaranteeing the amount required.<br /><br />This type of procedure is practiced in the US with an approximate cost of US$ 1,000,000. Without health insurance and with the hope that there are no more health complications, the immediate challenge is to raise these funds so that I can undergo surgery and overcome the disease to continue living.<br /><br />Achieving lung transplant means closing the disease chapter that killing my body and depletes my energy, and opening the chapter to live to help and guide other women in the world and especially in Latin America who, like me, are lost, but desire to overcome and advance.<br /><br />I have great faith that God is with us and will help us overcome this situation. Hace 14 años fui diagnosticada con una rara enfermedad pulmonar poco frecuente llamada LINFANGIOLEIOMIOMATOSIS, también conocida como LAM.<br /><br />Esta enfermedad afecta sólo a mujeres, por lo general, en edad fértil y se caracteriza por un crecimiento anómalo de células musculares lisas atípicas a nivel pulmonar, formando quistes, afectando las vías aéreas, vasos linfáticos y sanguíneos, de modo que destruyen progresivamente el tejido pulmonar sano y éste va perdiendo su función. El transcurso de ésta conduce a la insuficiencia respiratoria y la muerte. <br /><br />En mi caso, ya la enfermedad se encuentra en estado avanzado, por lo cual la única manera de estar viva es estar conectada a concentradores y tanques de oxígeno ya que no me es posible respirar por mis propios medios. Actualmente estoy muy descompensada, toso y me ahogo en liquido linfático, tengo los pulmones llenos de líquido y los hospitales aquí no me han aceptado porque no pueden atenderme, han sido días muy difíciles en mi casa sin ayuda médica porque incluso el médico que me atendía se fue del país. <br /><br />La única alternativa para salvar mi vida es el trasplante doble pulmonar. En mi país, Venezuela, no existen centros de trasplante pulmonar, por ese motivo hace más de 2 años empecé a contactar centros de trasplante en EEUU y finalmente, en el Jackson Memorial Hospital, ubicado en la ciudad de Miami, Florida, han aceptado evaluar mi caso, sin embargo, a pesar de todas las gestiones que he realizado no he logrado recaudar el monto necesario para hacerlo.<br /><br />En mi país, existe un régimen de control de cambios que no me autorizó las divisas a pesar de que es para un caso de salud.  La única manera de que pueda ingresar en una lista de espera para el trasplante doble pulmonar es garantizando mediante el pago el monto requerido.<br /><br />Este tipo de procedimiento lo practican en los Estados Unidos con un costo aproximado de un millón de dólares (US$ 1.000.000,00). Sin seguro médico y con la esperanza de que no haya más complicaciones de salud, el desafío inmediato es recaudar estos fondos para que pueda someterme a la cirugía y superar la enfermedad para seguir viviendo.<br /><br />Lograr el trasplante de pulmones significa para mi cerrar el capítulo de la enfermedad que come mi cuerpo y merma mis energías, y abrir el capítulo para ayudar y guiar a otras mujeres en el mundo y en especial en Latinoamérica que al igual que yo, se encuentran perdidas, pero con muchos deseos de superar y avanzar.<br /><br />Tengo una gran fe en que Dios está con nosotros y nos ayudará a superar esta situación. In 2017, I was diagnosed with a rare lung disease known as LAM. Since then, my life has changed dramatically. I have faced numerous lung collapses, and over time, my condition has worsened to the point where I now meet the criteria for a lung transplant. This journey has been incredibly challenging, not just physically but emotionally as well. Simple things I used to do—like cleaning my home, cooking meals, or playing with my three kids—have become daily struggles. Some days, I can't even walk up the stairs or get out of bed because I am so exhausted and unable to breathe.

 Now, I am preparing for a lung transplant at the Mayo Facility, which is nine hours from my home. Because I am unable to fly, driving is my only option. After the procedure, I will be required to stay near the hospital for approximately three months to recover and attend follow-up appointments. The funds raised will help cover hotel stays and travel expenses for myself and my children during this difficult time.
