I was first diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) nearly two decades ago. I have faced this disease head-on multiple times, undergoing a CAR-T 19 therapy in 2018, proton radiation in 2019, and a life-saving Bone Marrow Transplant in 2023. Each time, I fought my way back to remission. But recently, the battle took a terrifying new turn. What began as a routine follow-up turned into a nightmare when we discovered the leukemia had moved from my spinal fluid into my brain tissue. I was rushed into emergency care with brainstem herniation and a 5.2 cm hemorrhagic mass pressing on the most vital parts of my brain. The last couple of weeks have been a blur of my ICU stay, intensive radiation, and high-dose steroids. Just days ago, I faced a life-threatening crisis where my breathing stopped while I slept—a terrifying sign of the pressure on my brainstem. I am also currently battling 10/10 bone pain and a new DVT in my arm, all while my mother stays at my bedside 24/7 to act as my monitor and advocate.
