<div>Compounding their grief, Omar’s family have had to navigate financial insecurity without Samir’s salary. The war changed my life in ways I still struggle to explain.

For a long time, fear became part of my everyday life. I learned how to sleep while worrying about what might happen next, how to continue my life while constantly feeling that everything around me could change in a moment.

Even now, although some days may look normal from the outside, I still don’t feel safe.

The fear has stayed with me.

I still struggle with anxiety, constant worry, and the feeling that something bad could happen. My mental health has been deeply affected, and I often find myself exhausted emotionally, even when I am doing nothing but trying to get through the day.

The stress has affected me physically as well. I have struggled to maintain a healthy weight, and despite trying, I have found it very difficult to gain weight. Sometimes even taking care of basic things like eating properly, sleeping, and feeling okay can feel harder than it should.

I miss feeling like myself.

I miss waking up without fear. I miss feeling secure about tomorrow. I miss being able to think about my future without constantly worrying about what could go wrong.

Right now, I am trying to rebuild my life from a place of uncertainty. I want to become independent again, take care of myself, and have the chance to live somewhere I can finally feel safe and breathe without fear.

That is why I am asking for help.

<div>Hi everyone! My name is Chris, and I am organizing this campaign from the US on behalf of my friend, Abdelaziz Al-Balbisi, to help him escape Gaza and continue his undergraduate education in Ireland.

<div>Before the terrible conflict in Gaza, Abdelaziz had a bright future studying cybersecurity, volunteering with the Reach Scholarship Education Fund, playing wheelchair basketball on the Gaza professional team, and, quite impressively, running his own tour company which taught Gazans about the beautiful heritage of their country. Unfortunately, due to the war, Aziz’s university closed when he was in his 3rd year of college, and the buildings he gave tours of were destroyed. He also lost his car, house, and all of his belongings. In addition, Aziz has a disability that limits use of his legs, which makes the situation even more dire for him.

<div>Amidst this destruction, Ireland has become a beacon of hope, as it has helped evacuate over 250 students so far, including 52 at the end of August 2025. As someone who studied in Ireland myself, I have been helping Aziz with the school selection and visa process, and he has been offered a place in a 6-month English language program that will allow him to restart his cybersecurity degree next fall. It is an excellent program offered by one of the top universities in Ireland, and they even have a special resource officer to help refugees, so I think it will offer him all the support he needs to succeed.

<div><strong>Now all he needs to get the visa is to raise the money to pay for the first part of his program, plus the visa fee and the cost medical insurance. </strong>After he shows proof of payment to the school and proof of travel medical insurance, he can apply for a visa and then be put on one of the next evacuation lists. I have been in touch with the Irish Embassy in Tel Aviv for over a month, and they have been very hopeful and encouraging.

<div>We live in a tent with no food, no clean water, no medicine and no sanitation. Disease is all around us. The unbearable heat of the summer burns their bodies, and the cold of winter freezes them.

<div>At one checkpoint, the soldiers stopped us. With merciless eyes, <strong>they arrested my father in front of us</strong>—for no reason. And they let us go… without him. The occupation is now rapidly invading and demolishing Gaza City and Ahmad’s family needs to urgently evacuate to the south. The purpose of this campaign is to raise funds for the cost of transportation to the south, supplies needed to build a tent and camp for them to live in, and the ongoing costs for survival. Living in a house with all this damage, with no windows or a door to lock ourselves in, is still easier and more merciful than going to live in tents again.

<div>We are trapped in a nightmare. We see people dying everywhere. Like every family in Gaza, we have lost so many relatives, friends, and all the places we love. Everything is destroyed. And all we can do is wait for our suffering to end.

<div>I can’t bear the thought of living in a tent again, it was so uncomfortable, humiliating and crowded, it is not living. But we can’t stay. Bombing and death is all around us, all day and all night. We want to leave, but we don’t have the means to travel yet. There is no gas in Gaza, so there are just a few cars taking people from north to south and it is so expensive. We need also to buy wood and tarps to build a new tent. While we are displaced again, we also keep starving to death. To have just one meal each day, we need at least $50 per day to feed our entire family. I am not asking for your help to gain a lot of money, I’m doing this to keep my family alive. Your donations save us every single day. It provides us with simple foods, water, and milk and pampers for my 2 year old brother.
