Hello my beautiful people! Well back again at the emergency in Penticton on Friday.... We did the X-ray we did the blood sample we did the nose swab we were out by midnight in at 7:00 p.m.... Praise God her neutrophils were high enough this time and they released us to manage at home... Great now I am the one and poor Stefano that has to work full-time the only one working stressing stressing panicking waking up every 3 hours checking her temperature giving her Tylenol every 4 hours she's reaching 39.6 heating up putting cold packs on her constantly waking up stress stress stress.... Tylenol only brought her down to about a 38.5 so she still was fevering.. Nothing nothing then finally last night the penticton emergency room doctor calls us and says she has contracted E Coli. Found out from her urine sample. I've emailed the school about proper hand washing protocols I mean they're children and everyone makes mistakes including our own daughter.. but kids need reminders it's cold and flu season and now she's contracted the poop virus bacteria and it's just making me sick all around. I pray the head of the Montessori school will collect the children and announce it to everyone that we need to do better washing our hands especially especially after we go number two. Every 5 ft you walk in the hospital there's a sign up with a cartoon character with a cape on and a mask saying "BE A HAND WASHING HERO!!" I hope that we can start putting signs up around the school for the reminders for the children. I just finished setting my alarm every 6 hours for the next 7 days for the antibiotic which is making her stomach hurt and she doesn't want to eat and then she is still fevering so every 4 hours the Tylenol. Again I can't stress enough for all of you to go home obviously clean up yourselves and then hug and kiss your healthy children. It is so sad to see her just lazing around on the couch she doesn't want to play she doesn't want to do anything she just wants to watch her tablet. It is no life for almost 6 year old. We are not having a Birthday party for her We can't go through the stress and depression of sending out invitations just to have it canceled because she gets sick again. Maybe in the spring when the weather is better and we're out of this sick season we can have a party for her ... this is the first time ever I'm all about the parties and socializing but I can tell you guys from a personal stance I am not myself whatsoever I don't feel good mentally I am so worried sick about my kid she's the 25% tile that gets fevers through maintenance chemotherapy which won't end until she's off these pills June 2027. We got Nabi. Some would say that cats can carry bacteria. The second she entered her house I got the crystals which are like looks like rock salt and we have a special mat a cleaning mat for her paws and I wipe her paws.... But some might come back to me and say oh get rid of the cat cats can carry this bacteria on their paws .... you know what it's the only thing that's saving her soul right now and Our soul she's the best thing that's happened to us I get it maybe it's the cat? Who knows could be the children at school could be the cat we don't know it's just a guessing game of crazy.... We have to live!!! Or we could be like Rapunzel and I could lock her in a tower until next year do you think that would be good? Please think of my couch written bedridden child suffering when you have a problem with your children, please appreciate their healthy bodies. We could only pray one day we have a heathy body like your children. I'm so sad seeing her suffering is the worst thing I've ever had to witness and it's constant it's over and over and over again constant reminder....we are not normal. Lord help me My mental state isn't the best... The waking up every few hours panicking has also put a strain on our marriage and Stefano's work which he only is working and can work as I'm here supporting our kid. He needs this job. No one really talks about the strain that it has on a marriage and relationship but I'm telling you it's not good. We are both very short tempered and irritable from stress and lack of sleep And we apologize to each other at the end of the night and hug we've been together 26 years but this is really testing us , Lord knows... Thank you all again for being here with us it is not anything I would wish on my worst enemy and I don't have any enemies.. not that I know of? I love you all and God is definitely teaching us lessons here I know I know we all have to suffer but watching your child suffer is the absolute most cruel thing I can think of.... WE LOVE YOU ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL ❤️ Thank you for listening and praying number one Love Kathleen, Stefano, Xena and Nabi XOXOXOX XOXO XOXO
We got a blood transfusion Thursday took about 4 hours.. THANK YOU GOD TO THAT DONOR Xena's hemoglobin dropped to 69 today from 100 on Wednesday... You can tell she is looking gray... They also did chest x ray in our room. With a fever that won't go away with antibiotics.. might be mold or fungus in her bloodstream. Doctor here, so lovely, and honest, talked to you Vancouver oncologist and they wanted us to be transferred BC Childrens in Vancouver Friday morning if the fever comes back. .... ALL her tests came back negative - NO VIRUSES we found out yesterday and we're kind of celebrating until her fever returned and then I thought... What???? I'm thinking Xena had an infection in that back molar and right now the molar pushed through the skin and the antibiotic has killed off that infection.... but during the time it was infected it got an infection into her bloodstream... That can produce mold or fungus ‍ I told God this when it happened to our dear friend Jasper, he knows this was my fear... But with your help and your prayers we woke up Friday morning with no fever! Thank you guys so very much your prayers are working and they worked! But isn't that wild though? Every single test every no swab every year and Sample every blood sample every single test they did fecal sample everything everything came back negative. I asked the doctor I said please give it to me straight what's your medical expertise on this? And she said to be honest we only tested for 20 common viruses that are around the Okanogan and there's about a thousand viruses that she could have contracted from but they're only testing for 20. Ma Va!!! So the long and short of it we will never know was it the tooth was it? Was it from the little girl at the park? We really don't know there's no answers and that's what you have to swallow that pill of unknowing what is your child suffering from when she's on chemotherapy or immune system is going to be constantly low until we stop chemotherapy next year and that's our life right now but that's it. It's in God's hands. It's in the doctor's hands. We feel so warmed and blessed to have so many people that love Xena so many people that pray for her. We were so blessed to have our church family come for a visit and we all held hands and had a deep prayer for Xena. We also were blessed again to have police who were doing a bicycle Journey around Okanogan for the charity cops for kids. They sponsored us and supported us with our stay at Ronald McDonald house and we were planning on standing by the legion as they biked by us Friday but they showed up at the hospital instead! And brought a teddy bear for Xena ❤️. My sister Karen and my brother-in-law Derek are both police inspectors in Mississauga Ontario and I thought initially they set us up with this charity but by the grace of God they chose us to support us! We love police officers! We love what they do for us they protect us and in our specific case they are supporting and protecting our little girl Bless them!!! We know we are home now because of you guys because of your prayers because you believe in our little girl May the Lord bless you and be with you all XOXO love you guys so much xoxo
⭐ Xena would love to wish all children a HAPPY 1ST DAY BACK TO SCHOOL!! She would have Loved to join you all, but she is Hospitalized now since Sunday AM. Same as March. Fever fever fever... Started out mild fever symptoms Friday evening, monitoring and staying inside. Lathergic, not eating too much... Otherwise good spirits. Sunday in the wee hours, spiked significantly. Call Oncologist in Vancouver. Yes, go straight to Emergency. 39.8 top level. The change and scary part is this time, Tylenol did not work. Last night was... Horrible for Xena - our poor girl For Mama here too I cannot tell you any worse pain than watching your child suffer and not being able to do a thing about it. I did rub ice packs all over her Body all night. Tylenol not working... I'm thinking she's been fevering for 3 days now and brain damage can happen. Thinking the worst. I begged and cried to the Nurse please please do something please! She is at 39.8 Tylenol... Can we give more??? They do armpit thermometer so it's always .4 degrees lower than my ear thermometer. This nurse was awesome. Called the doctor 3am Approved More Tylenol And Lab downstairs coming to take blood sample again A friendly gal at 3am smiling coming into our crazy room. But can't take blood from Port until 24 hrs. Passing by... No Emla Cream, no numbing cream...wants to Go into her arm. I said are we sure? They get cream (takes at least 30 mins to work) we have 3 mins - Xena's fevering can't sleep ... 5 yrs old you can imagine her poor state. Arm doesn't numb Screaming, pain, whole floor awake now. Gets the blood. Find out In the AM, same blood results. Ma va!!! Fever finally went down... But not without hours of Xena burning up, she could not sleep, Better check anyway... Xena suffers though. How does this happen???? Poor poor girl was so patient with us, packing, sorting, going to storage... We were evacuated for 2 weeks then back home for one week to move to our tiny cabin by the lake. 1100 cheaper and I am able to be here for Xena And Lord knows now why my job laid me off after the evacuation. I have this purpose. I thought let's celebrate! Moved in 3 days, let's go to peach orchard park! Xena played so very well with a 4 yr old girl and zip line, slide, splash pad, making up for weeks of boredom - The sweet Mother who we connected right away, I noticed she had her 2 yr old on her chest, says caught a cold, not feeling well. Right there I should have left. Think Kathleen!! Your daughter is immune compromised!! They don't understand. Viruses can be spread to siblings, symptoms show later. Not anyone's fault but My Fault. Xena had been playing with her older daughter and so very happy she was! This girl was happy too and so chipper and full of zest - Also it was her Birthday , how could we leave? No sign of sickness. Xena isolated during evacuation, isolated during packing, then unpacking ... She needed this playdate. The Mom texted me Thursday confirmed herself and her eldest daughter is sick - cold, stuffy nose but no fever. The Cost we pay, for play. OR or or.... It could be her 4 molars growing in. I had an appointment for her coming up this week. One molar (bottom right) a little red (see close up picture) pushing through gum. She had been complaining about it for a couple days prior. I was speaking to emergency dentist Saturday... Texting her pictures. We did salt rinse, baking soda. She suggested make Clove Tea. Dip cloth in it. Get Xena to suck on cloth. Will numb it for pain. I have to approve with the doctor first. I showed 3 doctors and 4 nurses so far her molar... They said unlikely to cause such a fever for 3 days and so very high Sunday and today.... But I am not ruling it out. Hospitalized. Cannot leave here till neutraphils hit 0.5 Took 8 days here when this happened in March. Neutraphils we're 1.1 Wednesday dropped to rock bottom 0.1 Sunday Urine sample, Blood sample, Fecal Sample, Very invasive vacuum sucking nose sample where she kicked me so hard in my chest -- the technician was upset on this order from the doctor and took it upon himself to complain to the physician to never order that test for a child. I appreciated that and thanked him also saving future children from that stress. Pelvic region swab, Armpit swab, multiple arm hug blood pressure tests, another nose swab, etc etc We are STILL waiting to see if Bacteria has grown in her blood (takes 48hrs) I'm PRAYING it is the Rhinovirus as she is now stuffed up. Now: Every 6 hours Xena is on a Broad range antibiotic Piperacillin. Tylenol every 4 hours. Hooked up to the Pole - Saline drip of 5ml every hour. The darling babe has to wear diapers now as antibiotics cause other problems. (I have a Probiotic to start asap when we are done) Xena is Hooked up through her port 24/7 with saline. Then when they need to give antibiotics, and Tylenol they can do that through her line. We are not even allowed to leave the room. So far said we can have healthy visitors, no longer than an hour as she gets tired. Just feeling sad for her Talking about the 1st Day of Grade 1 all summer. She misses her friends. She loves school. She missed half of kindergarten last year. She knows how to read now! Excited to bring her Pete the Cat book collection Grandma gave her to school to show her friends Excited to talk about her new sister Nabi who has been an excellent addition to the family. Phenomenal with Xena. Maincoon kitty. 5 years old. Lived with Kuro a German Shepherd and is trained up for a kid. So patient with Xena. My Best friend Clair Kwak Blessed us her baby and we Adopted Nabi - turns out. Nabi rescued us. Our Pet Therapist. Nabi. The greatest gift our Auntie Clair Bear could give. We are honoured to have her. Greets. You at the door, rolls on her back for belly rubs, wants to play, naps in the sink lol. Xena's sister and BFF. This is so very hard... but I must Step back, leave my body, close my eyes, hover over our life as an Eagle. Pray pray pray Feel the Lord's presence. Feel his protection. Feel Our purpose. Put Our Fears into God. We are Blessed to have Xena. Grateful she is still with us. Thankful for Doctors, Nurses, Modern Medicine Honoured to be her Mama. Stefano Ferrari is honoured to be her Dada. If we can kindly ask you pray for Xena please. Lord, heal her body. Take away her fever, build up her immunity. Lord you know we need you now - Grazie Mille my Lord. Thank you ALL so much for being on this journey with us . Leukemia is a long long road to recovery... She will get sick again soon... But we will drive forever if Xena will be in the Mustang with us, the wind blowing through her newly grown hair, laughing, smiling, giving us the joy that completes our family, nourishes our Souls. God is Great. WE LOVE YOU ALL! Love, Xena, Kathleen and Stefano Vissani
