I normally don’t ask for help like this, but I’m planning a small healing getaway to Michigan before and between the surgeries and treatments I’ll be going through starting in June. The last several months have been nonstop appointments, chemo, treatment, and preparing for multiple surgeries, and I honestly just need a chance to breathe, rest, and spend some time somewhere peaceful with one of my best friends while I recover. He’s a doctor and will also be helping take care of me while I heal. This trip would mean a lot mentally and emotionally before the next stage of everything begins. I’m a TNBC survivor fighting for my health—facing surgeries at Moffitt, chemo, radiation, and reconstructive surgery. Everything is moving so fast, and I need a break between my double mastectomy and radiation. I want a place to recover in private, away from the constant stress and appointments, so I can regain some strength and peace before the next phase. If anyone would like to help contribute toward flights, lodging, food, or recovery expenses for the trip, I’d be incredibly grateful. Even sharing this means a lot to me. My dear friend Kevin Rogers has become like family to me over the past few months. Kevin is a strong man of faith, a follower of Jesus Christ, and one of the kindest souls you’ll ever meet. Right now, he needs our support. Kevin is bravely battling stage 4 cancer. Even in his early 70s, he has been working full-time to make ends meet, despite the toll it takes on his health. Until recently, he was putting in 40 hours a week, but with multiple doctor’s appointments, PET scans, chemo pills, and ongoing treatments, he’s had no choice but to reduce his hours to 32 per week. Unfortunately, that means his paycheck has gone down while his medical and prescription expenses remain just as high. Kevin has never once complained—he continues to show strength, grace, and kindness through this incredibly difficult journey. But the truth is, he cannot continue carrying this burden alone. Buddy, his dog is his loyal companion and emotional support dog. You’ll always find Buddy wherever Kevin is. I started this fundraiser on his behalf (he doesn’t know I’ve done this yet!) because I believe in the power of community, prayer, and generosity.
