<div>My parents small family farm has recently been devestated by heavy rainfall and flooding resulting in severe damage and leaking to part of the roof, the basement flooding over a dozen feet to the top of the stairs, loss of some of our animals that weren't able to make it to higher ground, and collapse of some structures such as the pool. This is the second time the farm has experienced severe flooding in just the past week, and it looks like a third will hit this coming weekend with the expected rainfall.

<div>I'm raising funds to help my parents address some the most urgently needed repairs . The money will go directly toward roof repairs and starting work on the basement to prevent future flooding. Overall costs will probably exceed 50k. My siblings and I will try to cover as much as we can of this outside of the fundraiser, but if we can hit the goal of this gofundme it would help alleviate the financial strain my parents are experiencing tremendously. We know money is tight, so if you're able to donate we are deeply grateful. If not, even just sharing the fundraiser or reaching out means a lot to us.

<div>My name is Miriam González Bustamante, and I’m helping to organize this fundraiser alongside the Workers Center of Central New York for our dear mom, grandmother, friend and community member, Dolores Bustamante. Recently, Dolores was detained by ICE during her check-in appointment in Buffalo, and we are raising funds to support the legal fight to bring her back home.

<div>Dolores is a 54-year-old mother, grandmother, dedicated farmworker, and community leader who has been calling the U.S home for more than twenty years. She has no criminal record; she loves her work picking apples and feeding thousands of American families. She has supported her daughters and seven grandchildren. She also organized and delivered aid to community members during the COVID pandemic, started a community garden to provide fresh food to farmworkers lacking access to food, and helped co-workers cope with illnesses and loss.

<div>On April 22, Dolores decided to attend her ICE check-in, despite the horror stories she heard about ICE detention and her fear of being detained and deported. Before going to the appointment, she stated, “I will go to my check-in because I want to do things the right way.”

<div>On June 14th, we lost Michael Adam Dineen Ozari at the age of 36. Mike was a force of nature: an actor, filmmaker, comedian, and scholar. He was a world traveler, deep thinker, and kind soul who lit up every room he entered.
</div>

<div>Mike leaves behind his beloved partner Dan, his family, and a diverse group of friends spanning his many walks of life.
</div>

<div>If Mike had a superpower, it was his endless capacity for loving others, for continuing to light each candle he came across. This is a person whose warmth and presence so deeply touched a constellation of people that an uncountable number of human connections across the world have Mike to thank.

Celebrating the Life of Mike Dineen

<div>My name is Amanda, and I have been asked to start this page for my dear friend Trina and her and Larry’s son, Case. They are facing the hardest and scariest challenge of their lives. Case is an amazing 8 year old boy who was just diagnosed with a rare brain cancer called Diffuse Midline Glioma (DMG). This is a very aggressive and rapidly growing brain tumor near his brain stem.
</div>
<div>In mid October, Case’s mom and dad noticed he was tilting his head to one side. With no other obvious symptoms presenting, they continued to monitor his posture. An appointment was scheduled with his family doctor to have this checked, but it became clear it may be more urgent and they visited Children’s Hospital in Madison, WI on Wednesday, November 13th. After an MRI was completed, the heart wrenching diagnosis of DMG was given. This rare and aggressive brain tumor most often affects children between the age of 5 and 10 years old and is inoperable due to it’s location. Chemo is also not an option. Standard of care is radiation. If there are other treatment options, they are unknown at this time and are limited. If there are, they will be 1st stage trial options. Due to the location and rapid, aggressive nature of this cancer, the prognosis is hopeless and Case has been given about 6 months to live. But, we, as family and friends of Trina, Larry and Case refuse to give up hope as we know God works miracles every moment of every day.
</div>
<div>Here is what we know currently: Case is receiving care with Children’s Hospital in Madison. A surgical biopsy was performed today (11/15/24). This biopsy will take 10 days to return results, and results will be sent to many well known Oncology departments across the US for evaluation and input. Case may experience some vision changes as he heals from this procedure that will likely improve with time. They were also given the results from an extensive MRI Case had to go through on (11/14/24), where 14 more smaller lesions were found around his brain. When radiation begins, it will be 5 days a week for 6 weeks and will focus on all these areas. While this is not expected to cure the cancer, it may reduce its size and slow its growth as his parents and medical team continue to search for the cure.
</div>
<div>A bit about Case: He is an extremely loving 8 year old boy in 3rd grade. He loves school, his family and friends, his 2 cats and his dog, his self defense class, playing games, the outdoors, traveling, arts and crafts, and life. Anyone who has ever met him knows his bright blue eyes, beautiful smile and laugh are contagious! He wakes up with a smile and is happy and excited for the day, every single morning. He is sweet, kind, extremely thoughtful, and has a great sense of humor. He has this attitude throughout his whole day! He is so smart and loves math. According to his teachers, if they could have every kid in their class be just as helpful and positive as Case is, their days would be perfect. He wants to be a father someday and have alot of kids..

<div>What we can all do to support: Consider donating financially if it is within your means. The family will have extended times off of work and potential travel expenses during the upcoming months. If donating is not possible, the family asks that you continue to pray as they know that their faith in God is simply the only thing that will get each of them through this journey. Once they know their treatment locations and schedule, help with pets, lawn care, snow removal, meals, etc, may be helpful as well, but those needs remain to be determined.
</div>
<div>We need more people in the world with a heart and a smile as generous as Case’s and we continue to pray and work hard toward a miracle! “I am NOT giving up!” is the statement his mom and dad will live by. Let’s make this story one to celebrate.

Support Case during his fight against brain cancer

<div>We're reaching out to you with heavy hearts and an urgent plea for support.  Our dear son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and overall amazing human being Mark Shimkets has recently been diagnosed with lymphoma and acute leukemia at just 26-years-old.  
</div>

</div>
<div>The diagnosis came as a surprise to us all, and Mark has been in the hospital since Feb 15th, going through a battery of tests to determine the best course of action to battle this cancer.  He began chemo on the 27th, and currently we don't know when he'll even be able to return home.
</div>

</div>
<div>Mark is a stand up comic and has the unique ability to find satire in any situation. He's faced this terrifying life challenge with humor and resilience, bringing smiles to the faces of doctors and other hospital staff.  However, now he's facing a battle that requires more than just jokes – he needs our help.
</div>

</div>
<div>The cost of treatment for acute leukemia can be an astonishing $490,000. Even with insurance, Mark will rack up crippling debt in this process - while simultaneously being unable to work. This unexpected financial burden has hit Mark just as he was gearing up for a potentially once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as a support act for Steve Hofstetter on a month-long European comedy tour later this year. It's heartbreaking to see him confronted with this challenge just as he was about to embark on a dream journey.

<div>Despite the tough times, Mark is in good spirits, channeling his comedic talent even from the hospital. He debuted new material about his journey via Zoom on Steel City Arts Foundation's weekly open mic from his hospital bed, proving that laughter truly is the best medicine.

<div>As a community, let's rally behind Mark in his fight against cancer. Our goal is to not only cover the overwhelming medical expenses but also to ensure that Mark can focus on recovery and, eventually, get back on the stage where he belongs.
