My dearest friend, Karen Bookholz, is facing a fight on two fronts, and she urgently needs our help. At 59, Karen—a woman who has always been a source of strength, love, and light, and who many of us consider a cherished second mom—is battling a serious health crisis while simultaneously grappling with the threat of financial ruin.

Karen is currently struggling with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, low follicular Stage II. This diagnosis is challenging enough, but the situation has been compounded by a devastating blow: she was recently let go from her job and has been left with absolutely no income.

Karen is a fighter and is actively pursuing long-term relief through SSI and other benefits, but the wheels of bureaucracy turn slowly. In the meantime, the bills are piling up, and she is in immediate danger of losing everything.

Karen has worked her entire life, but now she is facing the unimaginable: homelessness, the loss of her car (which she desperately needs for medical appointments), and the inability to afford even the most basic necessities. She is struggling to pay for essential medications, toiletries, and food. Despite fighting relentlessly with her car lender for temporary relief, they have refused to help.
