Update: She is doing great! We have not seen a seizure in over a month. We got her a large cage. She became possessive of her new cage. Not wanting anyone inside , nor wanting outside. And she needs to come outside to help her seizures. Macaws need 30% of time in the sun to prevent seizures. Today, she came out of her cage!! This is a milestone

The owner released her to building up lives foundation and now she’s going to be the educational bird for the community.. However, she needs a proper cage, stands, a vet visit, Food and Toys Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to a brighter future for those who need it most. Retired CHP Officer Armando Pedroza has spent his life serving others, both in his career and in his retirement. Years ago, Armando would drive his cherished 1969 Mustang to the academy and back home, creating memories that have stayed with him through the toughest times. When Armando and his first wife's son became terminally ill, Armando put aside his own dreams and poured every resource into his family. Their son endured nearly 200 surgeries before passing away at age 13 in Armandos arms. The financial and emotional toll was immense. Add to that Armando's first wife passed away from breast cancer in his arms. I am Armando’s second wife, I founded Building Up Lives Foundation where Armando started to volunteer at after losing his wife. Armando now hauls in all the food and needs to care for 90,000 people. He jokingly says, “ I work harder now than when I got paid as an Officer”. In Armando’s life he saved lives, held the hands of many people passing, including his loved ones, he took down 12 corrupt Officers. He fought for rights for all. Spanish was Armando’s first language. Many challenges have been faced in Armandos life, five heart stents and now having to wear a back brace to hold his spine up, he uses a walker or cane… but through it all, his Mustang sat in the backyard, a symbol of memories and hope, waiting for the day it could be brought back to life. Despite these hardships, Armando and I have dedicated our retirement to helping others through the Building Up Lives Foundation. We don’t receive a paycheck for our work—instead, we spend our own money and time to support those in need. Serving over 90,000 lives! Together, we put in countless hours each week, providing a home for those who have nowhere else to go, including young people with special needs and those experiencing homelessness. Our hearts are in this work, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Now, we hope to give something back to Armando. Restoring his 1969 Mustang would mean the world to him—a way to honor his resilience, bring back cherished memories, and show appreciation for all he’s given to others. The car still runs, but it needs new tires and restoration to bring back its beauty. We would be so grateful for your support in making this dream a reality. Every donation, big or small, helps transform the lives of those in need, housed and unhoused. Your contributions will directly support the incredible work of this foundation by: Providing vital resources and support to individuals facing hardships, helping them regain their independence. Funding programs that promote mental health awareness and healing for families in crisis. Building Up Lives foundation is facing a crisis that they may have to shut down one of our buildings due to finances. Add to that we desperately need to hire help.. for the past eight years, we have been all Volunteers. Last year building up lives foundation serviced over 90,000 people with a budget slightly over 100,000 and paying for two buildings. It is a very much a struggle as we need to hire three people full-time. -We need to hire one person to run the Shop 4 A cause store, which helps those with autism. -We need a second person to run the Dig Bin store; which is an emergency resource center for those in need. And -we need someone in the office doing Grants. We have the same Volunteers that truck in food with their personal vehicles, help the homeless, help remove women and children from domestic violence situations, feed those that are starving, help elderly, veterans, disabled and mentally challenged folks in our community. plus we just started our tribal and cultural group to bring together more people in our community❤️

Hi, I'm JulieAnn, and I'm excited to launch this GoFundMe campaign to support the Building Up Lives Foundation. Their mission to HEAL and RESTORE LIVES has touched countless individuals in our community, and I believe in the transformative power of their work. Building Up Lives Foundation is an all Volunteer nonprofit.  In  2024 Building Up Lives Foundation serviced over 70,000 people and their total income was $68,000.. numbers for 2025 is not out yet, but they served more because they received more more. This year they “need”to hire three to five employees. Just that Alone is anywhere between $130,000 to $250,000 and this is what we’re raising money for. With these full-time employees will be able to do greater good within our community. We have a mobile unit that has a shower in it and that we’d like to see it out into the community at least five days a week, but it needs a driver and a driver cannot be a Volunteer. We also have a local volunteer animal veterinarian that wants to volunteer her time to help homeless pets get their vaccines. Not to add quite a few nurses and doctors that are in our local area that want to go in the Mobile unit so we would love to say seven days a week! We also have a store opening called, Dig Bin Clothing and Emergency supplies. It is located at 23185 Hemlock suite A Moreno Valley, CA 92557.  Dig Bin is a 24 hour access store for law enforcement and those helping people in need to be able to get food, clothing, hygiene, and emergency supplies. Our Special Needs has  a small store that just breaks even monthly with its rent.  It’s called Shop 4 A Cause located at 16420 Perris Blvd. suite M Moreno Valley, CA 92551 This is a very special and unique store. We keep our prices low for the Community and those that help run the store are special needs.  Both stores need a paid employee to run the register and the store. We also have an office located at  23945 Sunnymead Blvd., Moreno Valley, CA 92553 Which we need a staff of two people there.  We do not do many grants as we’re on the floor working so it’s very rare that we do Grants. We would like to be able to get someone in the office that can help us succeed at applying for grants and answering the phones. We get 150 calls a day. Many are suicidal, homeless, broken people that need more than an answer machine. Sunnymead location we also feed the community every Sunday 1:30-3:30.  We have food coming in seven times a week at different locations.  We are currently all Volunteers and that’s a struggle and some days we have to close because we don’t have a volunteer to open the door. The Dig Bin is not opened yet. We are still waiting on some things to be finished and finding the Volunteers that will work in the building.
