Support Malad Valley’s New Community Stage

<div>My sister-in-law, Amber, who is currently pregnant, will shortly begin chemotherapy for Immature Germ Cell Teratoma - Stage III. It is an extremely rare form of ovarian cancer that will require ongoing treatment for several months. Amber is also the devoted mother to a bright two-and-a-half-year-old toddler, her angel baby, and her baby boy who is due in January. Her diagnosis comes just two years after her husband’s cancer diagnosis of Stage IV Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, which he bravely overcame. Now the roles are reversed as he stands by her side, full-time caregiver and emotional support.

Strength for Two: Amber’s Fight Against Cancer in Pregnancy

<div>I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and compassion that has been extended to our Brazilian family during this profoundly challenging time. The recent floods in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, have left many families, including my own, without homes or their livelihoods. My entire hometown is now submerged under water, in a true apocalyptic scenario, marking the biggest flood in 80 years.

<div>My family members, ranging from 2 to 80 years old, are among those devastated and in shock. They, along with my dad, brother, nephews, niece, and countless other relatives, as well as hundreds of friends and neighbors, have all been profoundly impacted by this disaster. The floods mercilessly took their homes, cars, and belongings, leaving them with only the clothes on their backs. While we are grateful they were able to evacuate and find safety, their fight to rebuild is just beginning. The floodwaters not only submerged our city but also swept away everything in its path, a nightmare none of us were prepared for.

<div>Hi, my name is Molly.  Our family had just left on a family vacation.  We had left him in the care of a dog sitter.  He is a large and very strong puppy and he escaped their care and was hit by a car. A  very kind-hearted, good Samaritan took him to the hospital and contacted us. Our family has been touched by all the goodness people have shown towards our beloved dog and their help searching for him.  He has a severely  fractured pelvis ,and his leg will need to be amputated. This surgery is very expensive. Without this surgery he will need to be euthanized. Barry is only a puppy, he’s so much fun and has a great personality.we love him so much! He has helped our family so much and now it’s time for us to help him. Thank you for everyone who has supported us and our dog. Please help us save our Barry!

For my birthday this weekend, I'm raising funds to develop <a href="https://www.sacredinnocenceinternational.org/">Sacred Innocence</a>'s self-guided, 14-step sexual abuse recovery program (<a href="https://www.sacredinnocenceinternational.org/order-program-heal.html">Heal</a>) into an online, interactive program that will guide hundreds of thousands of victims through the recovery process.  The interactive program will be the first of its kind, and will allow hundreds of thousands of survivors to access research-based healing resources, track personal progress, hear from world-renowned experts within the field of sexual abuse recovery, and have personal access to the 300-page, 14-session healing curriculum. <br /><br />I've been involved with this charity for the last year and really believe in its purpose and importance.  I've donated $15,000 of my personal funds ($12,500 via this campaign) and am willing to match donations until we reach our $25,000 goal.  Sexual and physical abuse leaves hundreds of thousands of victims in its wake, and this program helps those victims recover and move forward with their lives.  I want to make a difference in the small way that I can and I know getting this program online will.  So, please be generous in the ways and within the means that you can.  Aside from taking care of loved ones, you won't make a better use of your funds.

A cause I care about needs help

After having a terrible headache for weeks, on Saturday September 15th, the eve of his 60th birthday,  Craig  went to urgent care to seek relief.  He had been in the day before as well but even with the treatment they had given him then ,  he was confused,  vomiting and in excruciating pain.  A CT scan was done and showed nodules on the lungs and a hematoma on the brain.  Craig was taken by ambulance to the University of Utah Neurology Critical Care Unit.  <br /><br />Meanwhile, Craig’s wife, Jen,  returned home for the first time in 3 Days after caring for their 15 year old daughter who had been treated at Primary Children’s Hospital for a skull fracture after fainting at school.  Her heart is not functioning properly and they are doing further testing.  After getting Her daughter settled,  Jen made it in time to the ED to follow the ambulance to the U of U hospital.  <br /><br />Surgery was scheduled for Wednesday to remove the hematoma.  Around 3:30am on Monday morning,  Jen received the news that the hematoma was hemorrhaging and emergency surgery needed to be performed.  The team came out and told the family waiting there for Craig that the tumor was removed,  it was malignant and that Craig was in critical condition.   These are hard words to hear and even harder words to process.    Family makes it more bearable,  and there was plenty there in that waiting room.    At this point it was a waiting game.  Waiting for pathology and for Craig’s recovery.  <br /><br />Craig is still in NCCU.  While the entire tumor was removed,  there is still blood in the brain cavity close to the brain stem which causes concern but the Dr feels the body can absorb.  An MRI revealed that there is trauma caused to the cerebellum which controls motor skills.  The extent of the damage is not known.  The family is still waiting on answers as to what to expect as far as recovery.  Much rehab will be needed.  <br /><br />The immediate worry  is the swelling on the brain.  He is being watched closely by the neurologists in case they need to go back in to surgery to relieve the pressure.  <br /><br />Family is still waiting to talk to Oncology for more info,  however  a neurologist did tell Jen that it is Metastatic Melanoma.   There are also lesions on Craig’s lungs and it is believed to have started in his GI tract.  No plans or discussion as to what this means for Craig have been made yet.  <br /><br />As the family takes each moment at a time and absorbs this information I am hoping we can rally around them in support of prayers and possibly donations no matter how small.  With a combined effort perhaps we can take away some of the huge financial burden that will be put on the family.  They have so many other uncontrollable stressors right now,  please help lessen this one that we can do something about.  <br /><br />Craig is the father of 7 wonderful children and has 6 grandchildren that enjoy his sense of humor,  going to U of U games with him.

Brent Taylor, Mayor of North Ogden, was killed in Afghanistan today. Mayor Taylor was a hero in every sense of the word.  He believed in his community, his country and in selfless service to his fellowman. He truly belonged to all of us in the community, but he ultimately belongs to Jennie and his seven amazing children.  At this time we cannot take away the loss for Jennie and his children but we can ease some of her financial burdens which will be with her for the rest of her life.  Please help us thank Mayor Taylor for giving the ultimate sacrifice to his country.
