<div>On May 31st, I shut my refrigerator and accidentally smashed the upper half of the kitten in the fridge. The baby kitten hasn't given up; it's learned how to walk on its elbows, but it needs to be looked at because I'm not sure if it hurt its ribs, shoulders, organs, or anything!

<div>Stephen's first visited the ER on October 7, 2021, with pain in his right shoulder, only to be told repeatedly that it was muscle soreness from work. After many more visits, he was finally diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma in his right scapula in February 2022. He began an aggressive chemotherapy regimen, spending at least 18 days a month in the hospital. In October 2022, he rang the bell, and we thought we could finally breathe. But a little over a year later, he was diagnosed with metastatic Ewing’s sarcoma.

<div>Since December 2023, Stephen has developed tumors in his spine, lungs, ribs, femurs, shoulders, and pelvis. He has undergone numerous rounds of chemo, radiation, and another spinal surgery. On October 8, 2024, I asked the question no mother ever wants to ask. The doctors told us he has only months left. Stephen is 23 and will turn 24 on January 7.

<div>Stephen has fought bravely, but it’s painful to see him confined to a walker with limited function in his right arm. He once loved to bowl and ride motorcycles with his dad and friends—simple joys that this disease has taken from him. He won’t get to experience having a family of his own, yet we want to fulfill his dreams and make the time he has left as meaningful as possible.
