Lisa is a talented and hardworking single mom who has always put her children and her work first. Recently divorced, she’s faced even more challenges as she continues to provide for her family. As a shipwright, she’s spent countless hours building and repairing boats, often with her kids in tow. She’s never been one to ask for help, always finding a way to make things work, no matter how tough things got. Recently, Lisa was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor on her adrenal gland. This diagnosis has turned her world upside down. She now has to travel an hour away for treatments, which means missing work and turning down jobs. As the sole provider for her two children—one of whom has special needs—this has created a tremendous financial strain. The costs of medical care, travel, and lost income have quickly added up, making an already difficult situation even harder. Lisa would never ask for help herself, but as her friend, I know how much even a small gesture of support would mean to her. Every donation will go directly toward her treatments, travel expenses, and helping her keep things afloat while she focuses on her health and her children. After this was written Lisa is now facing another hardship with her son Maven needing extra help with behavioral issues stemming from his Autism. He will need to be seen out of town for more diagnosis to further find the help he needs which in turn adds more financial and emotional burden to Lisa and Her family.
