Thieves targeted my parents and broke into the apartment (walking distance from Burger Basket) they have been living in for almost 30 years when they left for work. These thieves manhandled the family dogs, stole about $20K in valuables and roughly $140K in life savings, and traumatized our family (my dad was admitted to the hospital from a stress-induced illness shortly after these events and is still there). </strong>

<div>My name is Jesse, the only son of Phiyapan and Vorawat, who own and run Burger Basket on Mayflower Avenue and Duarte Road in Monrovia, California, and I am helping them write this letter on their behalf. <strong>On March 26th, 2026, my parents’ apartment in Monrovia was burglarized by approximately 3–4 perpetrators</strong>, along with a getaway driver driving a light gray <strong>Nissan Rogue SUV</strong> with stolen license plates 9FIDO94 (see picture on website). An <strong>older middle-aged man in a white hat</strong> (see picture on website), who appears to be in his 40s, was the initial scout and violently knocked on our windows to check if no one was in my parents’ apartment. After that, <strong>two perpetrators, who were young men</strong> in their 20s to early 30s (see picture on website), took about 7 minutes to break into my parents’ bathroom top window. They then went into their bedroom, manhandled the three family dogs (we are so grateful the dogs were not seriously hurt), and stole all of my parents’ valuables and keepsakes from three generations of family (maybe around $20,000). But most unfortunately, <strong>they stole her lock box that had all of my parents’ life savings</strong> from working at Burger Basket and years of dedication working in the restaurant industry (probably at least around $140,000). I agree and understand that they should not have kept their life-savings like that, but they are old-fashioned, and it was a mistake in hindsight for them—and the worst-case scenario happened.

<div>Despite everything, there has been a bright light. For the one week after the robbery, the Monrovia community and surrounding areas have shown overwhelming kindness and support. We’ve seen first-time customers, familiar faces, and people traveling from far away just to support my parents. Your patronage, kind words, and generosity have truly meant the world to them. In fact, they’ve been more moved to tears by your support than by the loss itself. My parents love serving this community and are incredibly grateful to the whole community.

<div>Now, at this time, I am <strong>asking </strong>the community for <strong>help in these 4 ways</strong>:

<div>If you <strong>see anything suspicious or recognize these individuals</strong>, please contact the Monrovia Police Department immediately. I still pray and hope the investigators can find these people and hopefully recover most of the stolen items and money.

<div>I will be setting up a <strong>GoFundMe page for my parents for donations</strong>. I do not expect to reach anywhere near the amount of their personal savings lost, but every bit can help them. Please only donate if you have the means to. They have to start from zero again, but that’s okay because I know that while it is going to be difficult, money can always be made, and I am just grateful that no one got hurt. Also, friends, family, and especially I, their son, will do everything in our power to support them during these tough times.

<div>We have decided as a family that we will <strong>close Burger Basket for a couple of days</strong> to help my parents relax after these stressful events. From these events, <strong>my dad has suffered and is now hospitalized with a form of post-traumatic stress condition</strong> (it is probably PTSD, so we are getting professional help for him now), and my mom has also been very stressed and sad too, so they need time to recuperate. However, when it does reopen, I hope you can pay them a <strong>visit and give them your patronage and love.</strong>

I still remember that since I was a very young boy, my parents worked minimum-wage jobs most of their lives as a restaurant server and cook, and worked really hard for every penny they earned. My aunt and uncle had to take care of me 4 out of 7 days a week, and I will always remember my parents coming home so late and tired to pick me up after working long shifts at the restaurant. It was only when I reached college that they were able to save enough money to buy and take over Burger Basket—a truly dream come true for them. It has been a magical last 5+ years for them, and it all seemed to come crumbling down in one day. I just want to say that I forgive you and ask that you do not do this again to any other family. Seeing my mother cry like that and my father suffer from this trauma is something I would not wish on my worst enemy. <strong>Also, it is not too late to return what you stole to the Monrovia Police Department, even anonymously. Please do the right thing.</strong>

<div>1. I am not surprised the family dogs are so nice (Lucky, Happy, Winchester). Because they have been through copious amount of training with a private trainer (her name is Shy and she is the best btw) and regularly go on walks to the public parks meeting and greeting everyone they see. But Winchester did react defensively and try to bark but at the same time was scared and confused. So they manhandled him and Lucky and locked them in the other room so they would stop bothering them. Happy the German Shepherd literally has an unofficial job at a local retirement home, showering and comforting elderly residents with love. If you met them you would know what I’m talking about.

<div>2. I installed the cameras there for my parents to yes help protect their home and also their business at Burger Basket. But most importantly I installed them to spy on the dogs

<div>3. They have never let anyone inside their home except for themselves and me. But I do suspect someone must have scouted the window, area, and the pattern of how my parents go to work. Remember Burger Basket is literally walking distance to their home which was a blessing but now a curse.

<div>4. Yes I totally agree. They should have kept their 30 years+ of life savings in the bank. We’ve actually had many arguments over that. But they are of Asian culture and old-fashioned and the very worst scenario happened. It’s a generational and cultural difference. Trust me, I wish they had never done that too.

<div>5. They did not just take lifesavings. They took cash, jewelry, and heirlooms passed down through three Thai family generations all in a similar spot and in one huge swoop. Obviously, my mom does wish she had stored things more securely and concealed—that’s something she regrets (or better yet the bank)—but no one expects this to happen in a place she rented with no problems for almost 30 years. So yes, I do believe and agree she was too complacent.

Help Burger Basket Owners Rebuild After Life Savings Stolen

<div>Our dear friend Colleen lost her mother, Son Ae Cho, after a long battle with chronic illness and countless hospital stays. Born just South of the North Korean Border, she was born in cold, destitute Paju, South Korea, and was the fifth of eight children. The necessity to migrate and make a living in the cities separated Son Ae from her family, and after having her first child, Jason, she settled in the US and had two other children, including Colleen.

<div>Son Ae’s life was a difficult one. Her son Jason was diagnosed early with an incurable psychiatric disorder, and she ultimately sacrificed her beloved restaurant in Koreatown to become the primary caretaker for Jason. Despite his intense episodes, Son Ae only saw the best in Jason, using her love to reframe his symptoms into strengths. In her final years, Son Ae endured immense suffering due to her own battles with chronic physical and mental illness.

<div>As many Korean mothers do, Son Ae sacrificed her body, mind, and spirit to give to her family, putting them first at the final cost of her life. Witnessing this, Colleen took over as her mother’s caregiver, navigating a broken healthcare system and making heartbreaking decisions about her mother’s final steps of care. Due to the advanced state of Son Ae’s conditions, Colleen ultimately chose comfort care for her mother, and she passed on peacefully in her sleep on August 31, 2025. Son Ae was clean, safe, and pain free, which is all Colleen and her family wished at the end.

<div>One of the deepest sorrows of Son Ae’s life was losing contact with her family in South Korea. Old letters with return addresses were lost, and decades passed without correspondence or reunion. In her final week of life, Son Ae called out to her family, stating her love, apologies, and wishes to reunite with them again. Now, Colleen strives to locate and reconnect with her maternal family to notify them of her mom’s passing, as well as rebuild family ties that her mother always longed for.

<div>Additionally, Colleen is searching for her brother, Jason, who was taken in June 2025 due to having a mental health episode while Son Ae was in the hospital, and is now missing within the psychiatric placement complex–authorities are unwilling to disclose Jason’s location and he is not aware his mother has passed away. Son Ae asked Colleen to find Jason, and, “Take him shopping, and to eat something good.” These were Son Ae’s favorite things to do with Jason when she was able bodied, and Colleen is determined to fulfill her mother’s last wish.

When I created Salbador's gofundme, it was urgent in that, my father had to drastically change his life after his bike accident. My father initially took a leave of absence and started going to many doctor's visits. Today, he is currently no longer employed and is still recovering from his hand injury (as well as previous injuries).

<div>Myself and my immediate family have been helping my father financially since December. This means we have helped him with his rent, food, and transportation to doctor's visits. It's come to my attention that there is still an initial doctor's bill of 5,000 dollars we still have to pay off. My father was not was not covered by medical or any insurance at the time of his accident, generating a bill of 5,000 dollar doctor's bill from urgent care. Although he is now insured, his insurance was not able to cover the doctor's bill.

<div>I have made this GoFundMe because on 11/17/2025, my father, <strong>Salbador’s</strong>, was struck by a car on his bike at the intersection of McLaughlin Ave and Venice Blvd. He was doing laundry and had stepped away to grab a bite to eat at the local Campos Tacos on Venice Blvd. This accident happened very unexpectedly. Unfortunately, <strong>he has sustained injuries since the accident and for the past month has not been able to work</strong>. My father needs assistance with his rent on top of medical fees at the moment.

<div>It has been a journey in helping my dad after his accident. My sister took him to urgent care to be seen shortly after the accident. The doctors took X-rays of him and discovered he had fractured his left middle finger and left ring finger. Right now, he is unable to use his left hand completely. Additionally, the accident affected his back discs and has caused him issues related to walking. He was already experiencing problems related to walking. Prior to the accident, he had developed a limp from previous injuries. At the beginning of all this, our father was experiencing a lot of physical pain. He was having a hard time walking normally. Today, he can walk, but he is currently using a cane to support himself while experiencing some physical pain. All in all, he is still in no condition to return to work right now.

<div>My sister and I had to rework our schedules to take our dad to medical visits for the past month. We have also had to navigate the healthcare system (Medi-Cal) and get our father re-insured. Right before he was injured, he had lost his health insurance. My sister had to pay out of pocket to have him seen by a doctor, which was expensive considering the procedures and tests they ran on my dad. We have had to reorganize our schedules and financially aid our father during his medical transition. In the end, it has been an incredibly stressful and costly month. Despite the timely situation, it’s been worth it all to get my dad the medical help he needs.

<div><strong>Today, he has been out of work for roughly a month. Recently, he told me that he is concerned about how he will be able to pay for his rent this upcoming month and future months since he is still injured.</strong> Our dad has never been involved in any kind of accidents until recently. His work does not offer any paid time off or pay related to being injured outside of work. For more context, he works as a prep cook/dishwasher for a local restaurant in West LA. He is in his 60s and working in the kitchen. He did not expect being immobile or being in need of financial help. I can tell he is concerned.

Support Salbador’s Recovery After Bike Accident

<div>On November 1, 2025, my daughter, my grandson, and a family friend were on their way home to grab luggage before heading out of town to celebrate my birthday week. As they were approaching an intersection - with my daughter having the right of way - another driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic and crashed into her car. The impact caused her to lose control, hitting a wall, a fence, and then a palm tree.
</div>
<div>Both my daughter and grandson were rushed to the trauma center. My daughter went in and out of consciousness, suffering severe injuries including head trauma, six fractured ribs, a punctured lung, and blunt-force injuries to her abdomen. She underwent emergency surgery due to internal lacerations and had a portion of her liver, kidney, and stomach removed.
</div>

<div>Since then, she has remained in the hospital, enduring multiple painful procedures — draining abscesses from her liver, removing fluid from her lungs, and constant X-rays and evaluations. She cries from the pain daily. She cannot bathe herself, use the restroom on her own, cook, or take care of her little boy. Her recovery will be long and emotionally, physically, and financially overwhelming.
</div>
<div>As a single mother and a college student, she cannot return to work any time soon. She has already missed school, and her life moving forward will be forever changed. The doctors have told us she will likely face long-term complications with her lungs and daily functioning.
</div>
<div>On top of that, her car was completely totaled, leaving us without transportation as we travel back and forth from the hospital and care for my grandson. I (her mom) have also missed work to support her and manage everything at home.
</div>

<div>Medical bills are piling up - ambulance transportation, surgeries, therapy, medications, follow-up treatments, and lost wages. We are asking for help during this unimaginable time. Any amount, large or small, will truly make a difference for her healing and for our family's stability.

<p> My life changed on Good Friday of 2023. A workplace accident took a quarter of my left foot, and with it, the version of life I thought I’d be living. For the past three years, I’ve been fighting through workers’ comp and waiting—just waiting—for disability to finally review my case. That waiting has taken a real toll, physically, mentally, and financially
</p><br />
<p> But the hardest parts didn’t stop there. Since that accident, I’ve had six long hospital stays, each scarier than the last. The worst came after a surgery on Thanksgiving of 2024. A surgeon made mistakes that lacerated three areas inside my stomach without realizing it. I woke up knowing something was terribly wrong. I was silently bleeding to death and ended up needing 13 blood transfusions to keep me alive. That experience changed me in ways I still don’t fully know how to put into words
</p><br />
<p> Most recently, on November 10th, a benign abscess behind my right Achilles grew to 9 cm. I ended up back in the hospital, back in surgery, and once again back in a wheelchair as I recover. Each time I think I’m on the mend, another setback knocks the wind out of me
</p><br />
<p> But the person who has carried me through all of this—every fear, every surgery, every sleepless night—is my wife, Becca. She has been my strength, my anchor, my safe place when everything else feels like it’s falling apart. It hurts more than anything that I can’t provide for us the way I want to. We’re still waiting on workers’ comp, disability decisions, and legal settlements, and in the meantime, Becca and my mom have been keeping us going

My name is Edmund, and I am reaching out because I am facing one of the most difficult times in my life. I have been diagnosed with lung cancer, and the pain has become overwhelming, especially when it spreads to my ribs and back. The treatments are intense, and I have to travel back and forth to the City of Hope for chemotherapy and other therapies. Their turn around time was a lot quicker than the Regional Center. Our insurance does not cover some of our son's needed medical treatments, for his Autism nor his speech Ipad for his daily needs. If needed long term medical treatment for Autism our insurance will not cover his medical needs or treatments.

I will be applying for IHSS to see If I meet their criteria, in order to be our son's caregiver given our son's SSI benefits were denied.

He had a girlfriend, and he was saving up money to not only take care of his parents but to get married and start a family with his girlfriend. He had a very humble American dream but was taken away from his family and loved ones through the very violence that he was trying to avoid.

Asian Driver Patrick Fung killed in East Oakland

<p>For those who don’t know him, Mike Edward Tims has been a Respiratory Therapist at Jackson-Madison General Hospital for over 26 years. During that time, he’s provided care to many, many patients suffering from respiratory distress and illnesses. Unfortunately, on July 29, 2021, Mike tested positive for the coronavirus and on August 8, 2021 he was admitted into the same hospital where he has spent his career working. Mike is diabetic and since contracting this unforgiving virus his health has been like a roller coaster. Currently in the ICU, Mike’s medical team is working to keep him breathing via a ventilator, they’re fighting a blood clot that has formed in his leg, they’re treating his pneumonia, and they are performing dialysis as his kidneys are starting to show signs of failure as well.<br /><br /><br />Mike’s salary as a Respiratory Therapist is the primary income for his family. Medical bills are arriving and the cost for his care continues to accumulate. This is why we are starting this GoFundMe page for Mike Tims and his family. We want his family to be able to be with him in steadfast prayer and not be worried about money. Many friends and family have asked how they can help. If you would like to assist with their financial burden, any donation is greatly appreciated. Mike Tim's COVID19 Recovery at JMCGH

<p class="p1" style="line-height:normal;"><span class="s1">On September 13, my cousin Kyle Park was rushed to the emergency room in Tyler, Texas for Covid-19 symptoms. His condition started worsening, and they had to put him on a ventilator due to extensive Covid pneumonia affecting his lungs. After struggling with the ventilator, he had to be airlifted to Shreveport, Louisiana by helicopter to start him on ECMO to buy his lungs some time. Kyle is in critical condition, his lungs are badly damaged, and his last hope is to get a double lung transplant. Thankfully, he has been transferred to the UC San Diego hospital where they perform Covid lung transplants. He has been working hard to become a candidate and is awaiting the call for the surgery any day now.<br /></span>

<div>Uncle Dave Wikoli went in for cancer surgery this morning. This fantastic human being hasn't had a "home" in years. In fact, he hasn't even had his basic needs met, yet he has always been too proud, (and ashamed), to ask for help. To hear this man's appreciation, (in our home), for laying in a bed, or sitting at a table to eat, or having a coffee maker to have coffee when he wakes up, puts life into perspective, and we want for him to have those very simple comforts at 59 years of age.  No one should have to live out of their vehicle, especially while trying to beat cancer.

<div>He was recently diagnosed with cancer, and not once has he felt sorry for himself. He always expresses extreme appreciation and gratitude for the smallest things. It seems to always be that those who serve others have the most trouble accepting help. With Dave's recent cancer diagnoses, he has graciously allowed us to try to help make some positive changes, but we can't do it alone. He has been a friend and uncle to many and served the Maui community as a police officer for 28 years before retiring in 2017. He continues to serve our community by working as a security officer for Kamehameha schools.  A man who never calls in sick, doesn't even drink a sip of alcohol, and has worked his entire life, he still doesn't have a home due to unfortunate circumstances.

<div>As his neighbors and friends, we can't close our eyes to his living situation as he undergoes surgery and treatment for cancer, and we hope that you can't either.  He will stay with us as he recovers from surgery, for as long as he needs, but we look to our friends and the community to help Dave have a tiny home of his own in the future where he and his cat, Samantha, can live and have their basic needs met, (as they haven't had that in a very long time!). We can have this tiny home up and running for Uncle Dave in just three months, if we can raise the money for it.

<p>Since Aug 9th Teresa has been fighthing COVID. She has been in Sarasota Memorial Hospital since Aug 12. She has had a very long stay and medical bills will be piling up. Rehab is most likely in the plan in the near future as well as any other unknown medical costs for Teresa's recovery. Opportunity of a LIFE TIME

<div>Hi, my name is Ember. My brother Justin and I are fundraising for our brother Josh and his family.

<div>Josh was diagnosed with COVID back on August 20th.
</div>

<div>On August 26th, the intense coughing from covid (along with his asthma) caused him to cough so violently that he fractured his spine. A few days later, he went to the hospital but was sent home with muscle relaxers (they didn't even X-Ray his back at this time!).
</div>

</div>

<div>After a few days at home of not being able to move, his condition worsened, his heart rate was dangerously high, his fever was above 105 and his oxygen was dipping below 90. So, they called an ambulance to the house to take him to the hospital (because he couldn't walk to the car).
</div>

</div>

<div>On August 30th he was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with Covid-Pneumonia.
</div>

<div>He was put on oxygen and pain medicine (for his back). They finally did a MRI about 5 days later, showing the fracture in his spine. This injury has made his recovery very difficult and ongoing.
</div>

</div>

<div>After 12 days in the hospital, he was sent home with a back brace and oxygen. We thought he was on the mend.
</div>

</div>

<div>He seemed ok, but after 5 days, he started going downhill again. Every time he tried to stand up, his oxygen would drop (dangerously low). One day he said "Oh man, I can't breathe again, but I could breath yesterday?!" He reached out to his doctor, and with Josh's oxygen dropping so low (with the maximum amount of oxygen they could give at him at home), he was told he needed to go back to the hospital. That was Friday, September 17.
</div>

<div>He is currently in the hospital. His pneumonia is still there, and they are looking into doing a Kyphoplasty procedure (for his spine). If they do this procedure, it could relieve his back pain enough to give him the best change of recovery from his covid pneumonia.

<div>In August 2021, it started very simply when Jenny developed a minor lump on the right side of her neck. Over a few weeks, the mass grew from a lump into something alarmingly large (like the size of your fist). She tried to get an appointment with her doctor, but the doctor wasn't available for a month. After much persistence and coaxing, she was finally able to see her doctor within a few weeks. The doctor ordered a biopsy and the result came back showing that it was only necrotic tissue. Although the mass was large at times, she only had minor headaches.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Because the symptoms were tame, the doctor prescribed antibiotics and steroids. But the mass did not go away and continued to vary in size - sometimes small, but then at times significant swelling occurred. Since the mass did not reduce in size after the antibiotics, the doctor then ordered a CAT scan which revealed she had swelling of the lymph node, and also had a smaller growth on the other side of her neck as well. But even at this time, there were no other major symptoms other than the headaches.
</div>

</div>
<div>Over the past few weeks, the severity of her condition went from headaches to something significant. On Sunday, September 5, Jenny had a very hard time breathing and had severe pain &amp; swelling in her abdomen. Because of this, she was rushed to St. Joseph’s hospital and was immediately admitted. After running a number of tests, including a full body scan, she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of <em>Lymphoma</em> (type to be determined) which also caused significant swelling inside her abdomen area also.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Jenny is still at St Joseph’s and is experiencing a lot of pain, nausea, swelling, elevated heart rate and shortness of breath. She is currently awaiting results of more tests before beginning the appropriate treatment for Lymphoma, which is likely going to consist of chemotherapy.
</div>

</div>
<div>Jenny's trust and faith in God is unwavering. She is the world's best wife to Octaviano and world's best mother to her three children - Priscilla, Isaiah and Ana. They all desperately want her to be home quickly. And it's even Ana's birthday this weekend.

Help Jenny Rojo in her battle with lymphoma

<p>Back in March 2021, our dearest friend, Nga, unfortunately contracted COVID-19. At eight months pregnant, she continued to work despite of the pandemic in order to help provide for her growing family.
</p>

<p>Upon experiencing symptoms, Nga was admitted to Temple Hospital where she was tested positive for COVID-19. She was induced and had the baby the next day. The following day, both Nga and her newborn son were discharged. Approximately 2 days later, Nga was experiencing some difficulty breathing and other symptoms. Nga was admitted to Jefferson hospital. However, Jefferson Torresdale did not have the resources to manage her worsening condition. Nga was immediately transferred to Jefferson main hospital in center city Philadelphia for increasing oxygen requirements.
</p>

<p>Her respiratory status eventually worsened and she required intubation and ventilatory support. Nga continued to deteriorate to the point of requiring Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO). ECMO essentially is a machine that works similar to a heart-lung bypass machine. It takes the place of the lungs while the body attempts to heal itself. However, as of today, Nga has been on ECMO for over 90 days and her prognosis is grim.
</p>

<p>Since March, Nga’s husband, Nick, has been the sole provider for their 18 month old son and their newborn while simultaneously caring for Nga in the hospital. He travels back and forth to the hospital, twice a day, everyday, without fail to see his wife.
</p>

<p>The combination of daycare cost for their little ones, transportation cost, and a lost in one major household income is a huge financial burden for the family. This financial burden is on top of the extreme emotional toll being suffered as well.
</p>

<p>It is our hope that we can come together as a community to support their amazing and beautiful family in this time of need.
</p>

<p>Vào tháng 3-2021, bạn của chúng mình không may đã bị nhiễm covid trong lúc mang thai được 8 tháng. Nga là 1 người năng động, siêng năng, tốt bụng. Nên ở giữa mùa dịch Nga vẫn ráng đi làm để lo cho cuộc sống của gia đình nhỏ của mình .
</p>

<p>Khi có dấu hiệu của bệnh covid Nga đã vào cấp cứu tại bệnh viện Temple để kiểm tra và kết quả dương tính. Bác sĩ quyết định cho Nga sinh sớm để bệnh không lây qua con. Sau khi sinh được 2 ngày, theo bệnh viện theo dõi thì hai mẹ con được cho về ( bác sĩ cho tự cách ly chứ không giữ lại điều trị).
</p>

<p>Nhưng sau hai ngày về nhà, vì sau sinh sức khỏe yếu nên Nga có triệu chứng khó thở phải đưa đi cấp cứu vào chi nhánh của bệnh viện Jefferson. Vì covid đã tấn công làm phổi bị tổn thương nặng mà bệnh viện này thiết bị máy móc không đầy đủ nên họ đã chuyển Nga lên bệnh viện chính của Jefferson.
</p>

<p>Ở đây Nga đã được hỗ trợ máy hô hấp nhưng không có tác dụng, nên bác sĩ quyết định đặt óng thở dưới cổ họng để truyền oxy trực tiếp vào cơ thể. Sau một thời gian tình hình không khả quan nên Nga phải cần sự trợ giúp của máy ECMO( máy dùng hút máu từ trong cơ thể ra để bơm oxy vô máu và sau đó truyền ngược lại cơ thể) để hổ trợ oxy vì Nga không còn tự thở được. Tới thời điểm này Nga sử dụng Ecmo được ba tháng nhưng tình hình ngày càng xấu đi. Hiện tại sức khoẻ của Nga rất là nguy kịch vì hoàn toàn phụ thuộc vào máy ECMO để duy trì sự sống.
</p>

<p>Từ lúc Nga nhập viện đến nay Nick là chồng của Nga trở thành gà trống nuôi con. Một bé 18 tháng và một bé vừa chào đời. Vừa chăm con nhỏ, vừa tranh thủ ngày 2 lần vào bệnh viện thăm động viên vợ. Cố gắng chiến đấu với bệnh mau khỏe về với 3 cha con. Vì phải chăm con và vợ, Nick phải nghỉ làm dài hạn nên kinh tế có phần khó khăn dần. Mặc dù vậy khi bạn bè hỏi thăm có cần giúp gì không thì Nick lúc nào cũng nói “ Em còn lo được “. Mình biết em nó ngại làm phiền mọi người nhưng tụi mình vẫn quyết định lập ra quỹ này hy vọng bạn bè, những ai quen biết đồng cảm muốn chung tay giúp đỡ gia đình và thêm lời cầu nguyện cho Nga vượt qua cơn nguy kịch này để về với gia đình và 2 con nhỏ. Thay mặt gia đình chúng em xin CHÂN THÀNH cảm ơn sự chia sẻ và đóng góp của mọi người rất rất nhiều.

Fight for Nga Bui

The first two weeks at St John’s hospital, Manny was completely sedated and receiving oxygen from a ventilator. Not knowing the outcome of his health, there were good, scary and bad days through out it all. Manny also developed stomach paralysis do to all the medication he received. Manny had to be transferred via ambulance from St John’s in Oxnard to St John’s in Santa Monica to receive higher care. Now, he is currently on a ventilator and a ECMO machine to supply his body oxygen. Thankfully, after being put on both machines, Manny was able to come out of the sedation. Manny has a higher chance of fighting for his life do to the treatments he is receiving. Even though he is currently still on a ventilator and a ECMO machine, he is slowly recovering and getting stronger each day. In this time in need we ask for prayers, any donations that will support Manny and help pay his medical bills. Anything helps and will truly be appreciated .

<div>Our dear friend Jason Garcia was admitted to the hospital on August 15th and diagnosed with a severe case of Covid-19.  Upon entering the hospital, Jason was isolated like most patients and placed on a series of medications. Covid quickly turned into Jason fighting to stay alive. He was intubated and placed in a medically induced coma. <span>Jason, who turned 45 while in the hospital and in a coma, was a dedicated husband, proud father of three and a true friend to many. He was self-employed and has worked diligently to provide for his family, but the financial burden to cover the costs of his medical care have created undue stress/anxiety for his wife and children.</span>

It was determined there after a few days of tests that he should be transferred to NYU Hospital in NYC.  After a battery of tests it was discovered that the seizure was the result of a brain tumor. The hope and prayer was that it would be diagnosed as benign. Sadly it was not the case.  Not only was it not benign but it was diagnosed as a grade 4 Astrocytoma glioblastoma.  A very rare occurrence in a child so young with a diagnosis and prognosis that no parent or child should ever have to hear.  Click here to read about the disease. </a><a href="https://www.stjude.org/disease/astrocytoma-glioma.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><a href="https://www.stjude.org/disease/astrocytoma-glioma.html" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.stjude.org/disease/astrocytoma-glioma.html</a></a><a href="https://www.stjude.org/disease/astrocytoma-glioma.html"> <br /><br />Since that  diagnosis Jonathan has undergone 25 treatments of radiation  and a variety of tests.  Upon the completion of the radiation regimen Jonathan had a pet scan and and MRI with dye.  The results of the pet scan and MRI were not the ones that we had all hoped for. Johnathan's tumors not only did not shrink but they defiantly expanded!<br />Johnathan's plan of treatment is now  IV based  with a powerful dose of Bevacizumab under the name brand of Avastin. Once a week every two weeks for three treatments covering the next 5 weeks.  Upon completion of the Avastin IV treatment Johnathan will then have another MRI to guage the effectiveness of the drug.<br /><br /><br /><br />Like all fundraisers our hope is to raise as much money as we possibly can!  Much of the treatment up to now has fortunately been covered by insurance. Going forward the expectation is that it may not be the case as the family and doctors  look to explore all forms of  experimental and trial options.<br /> What will the money be used for?  Anything medical related that is not covered by insurance, household  expenses, food, rent.    Johnathan's father, Zenghua Lin, took off from work for a month with some loss of pay.   His mom,Qing Zhao,  has opted not to return to work after a pregnancy leave to care for the baby brother, Ethan and Jonathan's illness.  This has lead to them currently falling 2 months behind in rent. In addition, the dad's work has him leaving out of state one week on and one week off.  As a one car family. Uber has been the means of transport to and from NYU Hospital when the dad is at work.  The hope is that some of the money raised through this fundraiser will also  allow the family to buy a second hand car to allow mom the freedom and independence to shop and drive the children to their doctor appointments. <br /><br /><br /><br /><br /></a>

Someone who was there at your local grocery store to always greet you with her warmest and heartfelt welcome. Ellen is a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who we cherish with all our hearts. Ellen is someone I can personally say will and has gone out of her way to help, give great advice and words of wisdom to her peers. Ellen is someone who I’ve know to go above and beyond for her friends and especially her family. Unfortunately this past year Ellen was diagnosed with cancer. This is something no one could have imagined but she took her diagnosis with strength and courage. Now, Ellen needs our help! Upon her diagnosis Ellen stopped working immediately, due to COVID and now has endured some financial hardships and we are here to try to lessen the burden for her and her family. As a community I know we can come together and lessen this burden for her as I know she would do for us. <div>Our son is 29 with no illnesses and a very vibrant and jovial man. Killian is a chef and creates the most amazing meals, along with his humor and personality, family, friends, customers and people that he passes on the street, just love him to death. Killian has unfortunately contracted the Covid-19 Delta variant and is in critical condition. He kept putting off getting vaccinated, he is the king of procrastination unfortunately. According to the doctor he is in very good health..aside from covid. The ICU is currently full of covid patients, all unvaccinated, including our son. He has been on a ventilator since the 3rd of September with no improvement.

<div>He needs to be transported to Washington State so that they can put him on an ECMO machine (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation). This is his best hope for recovery and survival. His recovery will be long and strenuous along with heavy medical bills. He is struggling to survive and the family can only offer prayers. Our son, just a positive and bright light deserves the opportunity to survive and live a long life. This is the best way we can think of to help him battle this deadly disease. Currently, the only way we can communicate with him is through facetime, courtesy of the amazing staff at Matsu Regional, in Alaska. No one should have to only be able to see their child through facetime. His father is retired military and his mother is a frontline Covid nurse, they just do not have the income or savings to handle all the financial pressures that have now engulfed the family. Any and all help to support our son will be greatly appreciated.

<div>On July 28, 2021, Ben Viray suffered a thalamic hemorrhagic stroke which is a rupture of the blood vessel in the thalamus part of the brain that controls memory, sleep-wake cycle, sensory input and sensory motor control.

<div>The rupture occurred on the left side of his brain, therefore affecting the right side of his body. He has numbness on the right side of his face, entire arm and leg.

<div>He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit for a week and afterwards remained at an inpatient rehabilitation hospital to receive intensive Physical, Occupational and Speech therapy for a period of two weeks.
</div>

<div>Before the stroke Ben was the sole provider for his wife and two sons who are currently attending UNLV. He was previously a chef at Stations Casino for 16 years, and currently works at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
</div>

<div>His career in the hospitality industry started as a bellhop, then as a room service attendant and lastly mentored by a French trained chef. This led to his future career as a chef working in a variety of restaurants on the East and West coast and eventually settling in Las Vegas in 2004. It’s imperative Ben regains his sensory and motor control skills to continue doing what he loves most, aside from his family, which is cooking and working with his colleagues.

<div>The one silver lining through all this, his wife Elsie was able to land a temporary contract job. Her job is providing some assistance but a Go Fund Me would help cover the cost of the medical bills, medical equipment and continued rehabilitation services. Additionally, he requires constant supervision while at home and fortunately his sons are able to provide the care while currently attending hybrid classes. Ben’s extended family members will also help in his road to recovery.

<div>He’s made some progress while at the rehabilitation hospital but his journey to recovery has only begun. Currently while supervised, Ben is able to stand and walk with the aid of a walker and a wheelchair for a limited period of time. Additionally, the sensation and slight mobility on the right side of his body is slowly returning, but the numbness is still present. Ben’s ultimate goal is to regain the strength and fluid mobility to the right side of his body.

<div>At this time we are uncertain how long Ben will need Physical, Occupational and Speech therapy. According to his initial assessment at the outpatient rehabilitation center, they estimate a minimum of six months of therapy.

Ben Viray's Medical Recovery and Support

<div>Jason Jewell, 33 and a young husband and father, was diagnosed with Covid in August. The journey from there has been brutal. Unable to be admitted to the hospital in the beginning, he battled Covid at home. Once finally in the hospital, Jason was fighting to overcome Covid, pneumonia, sepsis, low oxygen and platelets, and a blood clot on his left optical nerve. He showed improvement and was released to go home to recover on September 4. Sadly, he lost eyesight in his left eye. Shortly after being released to go home, he suffered a stroke and returned to the hospital the following day. On Sept. 8 he was once again released to go home for recovery. He was readmitted to the hospital last night, September 10. Several blood clots have been found in is lungs, and he is currently sedated, paralyzed, and on a ventilator while doctors are desperately working to save his life. We only pray that this will be successful.

<div>Jason’s wife, Kasey Jewell, has been in my life since she was a baby. Her life has never been without its struggles. Jason is the love of her life, and they have 4 young children. As you can imagine, the struggle for Kasey to manage family and household matters while simultaneously being there to support Jason has been incredibly difficult. Jason is the financial supporter of the family. As you can imagine, the bills, medical expenses, and struggle to support this young family throughout this horrible event is extensive. <div>Thursday September 2nd, Sarah was enjoying a late lunch and started to feel odd. Her vision blurred she had a headache and basically felt “off.” She called Jeff to come get her as she knew she could not drive. Dan Sayer, a family friend was nearby and able to pick up Sarah and get her to Kaiser where Jeff met them.

<div>Sarah had a CAT scan and MRI where they found bleeding in (3) different areas of her brain. Later noted that she had (3) aneurysms that burst.
</div>

<div>Sarah was Air Vacated from Santa Rosa to Redwood City. Once the swelling was controlled Sarah had brain surgery using an angiogram. Sarah has been in ICU since.
</div>

<div>Sadly, with all the COVID-19 restrictions, Jeff and Mira have not been able to be with Sarah.
</div>

<div>With prayer and collective positive vibes Sarah has been in stable condition.
</div>

<div>Those who know Sarah know that she is a giving, kind and loyal person that would never ask for anything. We need to help her.
</div>

<div>First let’s get Sarah healed and home. Second, let’s help the family out. Sarah is a Master hair stylist by trade and Jeff is a Welder and Cabinet Maker. Times have already been financially hard on the family.
