For years, I’ve watched operating systems become increasingly bloated, rigid, and locked behind "black box" binaries. I believe it’s time for a change. I am building Aetheris, a next-generation, open-source operating system designed with a "no-build" philosophy. My goal is to create a system that is modular, instantly deployable, and accessible to everyone, from veteran architects to students picking up a computer for the first time. Why I’m Committed to "No-Build" I’m tired of the "compile-wait-repeat" cycle that slows down innovation. By focusing on a no-build architecture using interpreted bytecode and JIT execution, I am designing Aetheris to prioritize: Instant Iteration: I want you to see your changes the moment you hit "Save." No more waiting for hours for a kernel to compile or restarting your life for a system update. Extreme Portability: I’m building Aetheris to be truly hardware-agnostic. My aim is to let the same system files boot seamlessly on a Raspberry Pi 5, a RISC-V board, or your standard x86 laptop. True Accessibility: I believe that if you can edit a text file, you should be able to help shape your OS. I’m removing the requirement for expensive developer rigs so that anyone, anywhere, can contribute. How I Will Use the Funds Developing an OS is a massive undertaking, and I can't do it alone. I’ll be coding the core engine that allows Aetheris to run system-level tasks without traditional binary compilation. The Hardware Lab: To fulfill the "No-Build" promise, I need to test on real silicon. I'll be acquiring diverse hardware, including Orange Pi, Framework modules, and Loongson boards, to ensure day-one compatibility. Security Sandboxing: I’m implementing a robust permission system from the ground up, ensuring that "No-Build" modules remain isolated and your privacy stays protected.
